Global Esports sign Amaterasu, Ace

Global Esports has unveiled its roster for the upcoming season of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in subcontinent or South-East Asia at large. TalkEsport had, a month ago, reported that the organisation could sign Anuj “Amaterasu” Sharma and bench Sabyasachi “Antidote” Bose. Global Esports has signed Anuj “Amaterasu” Sharma and Tejas “Ace” Sawant after their departure from Entity Gaming in February earlier this year after disbandment of its CS:GO squad.

The reason over Sabyasachi “Antidote” Bose’s departure is not yet revealed. 23-year-old joined Global Esports in late November 2019 along with Sunny “DeathMakeR” Das. During his stint with Global Esports, the lineup secured 3rd-4th position at ESL India Premiership Winter LAN Finale 2019 and 2nd position at Indian LAN Gaming (ILG) Season 3.

The joining duo of Anuj “Amaterasu” Sharma and Tejas “Ace” Sawant have been together for not so long. The duo alongside the rest of Entity Gaming’s roster triumphed at ESL India Premiership Winter LAN Finale 2019. The latter had represented India at ESL One: Cologne 2014 major and has vast experience being a professional for more than half a decade.

With signing of a couple of former Entity players, Global Esports’ Counter-Strike roster will have two tactical minds (HellRangeR & Amaterasu) to lead the lineup. The organisation has not addressed how they intend to play with a squad comprising of six members and two in-game-leaders.

Global Esports six-men Counter-Strike roster is:

  • Bhavin “HellrangeR” Kotwani
  • Norbu “Karam1L” Tsering
  • Sagnik “HellfightRtR” Roy
  • Sunny “DeathMakeR” Das
  • Anuj “Amaterasu” Sharma
  • Tejas “Ace” Sawant

Should Valve Do a Covid-19 Relief Compendium For Dota 2 This Year?

Dota 2 is renowned for its humongous prize pool and rocked an annual prize pool of about 47 million dollars in 2019. The majority of this prize pool comes from The International. The International, often abbreviated as TI is an annual Dota 2 tournament organized by Valve which accounted for a whopping 34 million dollars prize pool last year. Needless to say, it is the biggest esports tournament in the world in terms of the prize pool.

A huge part of this prize pool comes from the players of the game since the tournament is primarily crowdfunded. TI9 started with a base prize pool of 1.6 million dollars by Valve and the rest was made up of 25 percent of all Battle Pass sales, which was nearly 33 million dollars.

Due to the enormous hype around this tournament, Dota fans from across the world wait eagerly for an entire year for TI to happen. However, due to the unfortunate pandemic that is currently wreaking havoc worldwide, it isn’t very likely that we’re gonna see TI10 happening this year. Some Redditors anticipated this, and instead of getting upset over it they want to do something for the betterment of the world.

One such Redditor is u/Ipug21, who came up with the idea of a “Covid-19-Relief-Compendium”. As he mentions in his Reddit thread, usually 25% of all battle pass sales directly go to the International prize pool, but he believes an additional 25% of this share could be given to a Covid-19 relief effort. Since the tournament would be held online, it’d also spare Valve the expenses of venue, lighting and many other stuff making the additional 25% donation seem much more reasonable.

If Valve decides to go through with this idea, it will potentially be a historic event. During the economic crisis the countries are going through, a share of this enormous prize pool would certainly go a long way.

u/Ipug21 in his post also predicts the headlines they’d make, “Nerds raise $30 Million for COVID-19 relief, Dota-2 proclaimed the national eSports for 30 countries“.

Some people are claiming in the comments that this idea is absurd since the International will likely be delayed instead of being cancelled. While we do wish for the International to happen as soon as possible, a charity event on a grand scale like this sounds truly historic.

Riot’s Legends of Runeterra set to release on April 30 for both PC & mobile

We can clearly see that Riot Games is not only focusing on their PC games such as League of Legends or Valorant but also on their game titles for the mobile platform as well. Last month we saw the launch of Riot’s auto battler “Team Fight Tactics”, now they have decided to launch yet another game titled “Legends of Runeterra”, and their MOBA game titled “Wild Rift” is also in works.

Riot’s digital card game will be launched on 30th of April and it will be available in the Play Store and Apple Store and even on PC platform across all the regions, Riot announced lately. This game will support cross-platform play (PC players can play against mobile players) just like Team Fight Tactics. Since the beta season for Runeterra is about to end, we feel like, with the global release, the new ranked season will start. The players will be able to keep all the content with themselves that they had purchased so far.

However, a Riot account is not needed to play LOR on mobile, but it is necessary for sharing progress across platforms and for cross-platform play. Unfortunately, LOR will not get released in regions like China and Vietnam. Mobile players will get the chance to play the next set of cards coming with the new season (Patch 1.0).

Here’s How You Can Get Custom Chat Wheel Sounds Back in Dota 2

Starting from The International 2017, custom chat wheel sounds are something that Dota 2 players have gotten used to. From celebrating extraordinary plays to tilting your opponents, they are used by casual players and professionals alike.

Chat wheel for World of Warcraft?

Till now, the chat wheel sounds were exclusive to battle pass owners and they could only be used for a couple months per year along the duration of the battle pass. Thankfully, some Dota 2 enthusiasts came up with a brilliant solution to this.

As claimed in this Reddit post, Hamul is a software made by “a group of 3 friends who love Dota 2 and, in particular, the chat wheel.”

As mentioned by u/joshli – one of the creators – Hamul is an in-game sound wheel for Dota and other voice chat platforms like Discord or Teamspeak. It has a plethora of popular sounds from various famous Dota 2 personalities and casters which can be used at will to communicate with your team or just to keep the mood light.

But wait, there’s more! The software also has included voices from many streamers and other content creators across Dota 2 in it.

The creators of the software claim that Hamul will encourage many gamers who feel uncomfortable using their voice chat to communicate with their team, resulting in a much better gameplay experience overall for the players. It can also potentially make communication more effective by shortening the duration it takes to give complex callouts in the heat of battle.

The makers also promise in their website that they’ll soon be making the software compatible with other esports titles such as CS:GO and League of Legends.

And it’s not only fun and games, as pointed out by u/heroh341 in his comment, “a system like this is a complete game changer for mute people”. It can provide room for much better gameplay experience for mute people who can now communicate just by the push of a button.

You can also check out this YouTube video made by them demonstrating how the software works and what kind of sound packs are included within it.

Coronavirus: Social distancing measures push gaming into the mainstream

0

As the World fights against COVID-19 trying to contain the spread by nationwide lockdowns and social distancing measures, more people have moved towards gaming as their main source of entertainment. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) themselves recommended people to stay home and game.

Since the spread of the virus, the number of gamers worldwide has risen exponentially. World’s biggest gaming storefront — Steam just breached 24 million concurrent users mark this week and may soon set another high of 25 million concurrent users within this month.

When compared to other sources of entertainment like TV series, movies, books, etc., games can be more entertaining for many. Games share some similar characteristics of every other form of entertainment; from great stories to breathtaking visuals, games are designed as an experience that connects with the user directly and lets the user enjoy the experience at his/her own pace.

Another outstanding aspect of gaming is socializing. Since we humans love to socialize and strive for social aspects, being cooped up in homes away from everyone has made many of us anxious and gaming will help in tackling that social itch by connecting us with others. Most games today have community hubs where people can come together and chat with each other about the game or form teams to play together.

Gaming isn’t only limited to personal experiences. With the help of several widely available tools and platforms, people have the ability to stream their games online which anyone in the world with internet can tune-in to watch anytime. The ability to stream is such a powerful tool that even several real-life events like the NBA, NFL, F1 League, La Liga, etc. moved some of their leagues online or made entirely new online-only leagues.

Since so many pre-planned events happen to cancel at the same time, these organizers were left stranded thinking about the future schedule of leagues and most importantly the fear of losing their audience. But, with the help of online-only events and streaming, the organizers were able to ensure that their fans are still entertained and remain interested in the future real-life events whenever they can be resumed, which for the time being looks impossible until a vaccine or miracle medicine is discovered.

EG Cr1t Demonstrates How to Abuse the Fog of War in DOTA 2

Andreas Franck “Cr1t-” Nielsen is undoubtedly one of the greatest support players to ever lay hands on DOTA 2, and he keeps on proving why. The position 4 support from Evil Geniuses was streaming a game of Dota on Twitch when he demonstrated a beautiful play coming from his Rhasta, the shadow shaman.

© Steffie Wunderl, ESL

Dota 2 is a game that’s renowned for its complex mechanics and an unbelievably high skill ceiling, and by seeing this 23 year old Danish pro in action we can certainly get an idea of exactly how high the ceiling can be.

Seven minutes into the game, Cr1t was trying to help out his Dragon Knight in middle by placing a ward at the top radiant jungle. The newly placed ward immediately detected an enemy Rubick walking towards middle but Cr1t, instead of running away calmly hid beside a tree, abusing the fog of war to escape the enemy’s vision. Simultaneously, he spotted the enemy midlaner, an Ember Spirit trying to take a stack of jungle creeps downhill. He still didn’t lose his calm and waited patiently just above the stairs so the Ember Spirit wouldn’t see him. Upon seeing the right opportunity, Cr1t proceeded slowly and hexed his foe, catching him completely off guard and finishing him in a single hit.

Solo killing the enemy midlaner as a support is no small task, but Cr1t made it seem easy as he walked away without a scratch after securing his team a huge networth advantage.

Cr1t is currently sitting just above 10k solo MMR and is ranked at immortal #1. The Twitch clip is currently rocking with almost ten thousand views as we can’t get enough of the brilliance of this man and his firm grasp on the mechanics of this beautiful game.

CSGO developers eyeing to resolve legacy intel hardware issues

We can witness a part of community who are still using their old setups bearing the Intel HD Integrated Graphics to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Most of them might be having a Quad-core Pentium processor, though we aren’t sure about the same. Since past few months, the community has been facing several bugs including the server lag which does make the game unplayable at some points where you might experience some micro stutters as addressed by the former a month back.

These issues not only make the conditions go haywire for those with high end setups but also for the ones who are still resorting to some Old Intel Hardware powered by it’s Integrated Graphics aka Intel HD graphics. CS: GO devs have now addressed for the betterment of these players as they did launch an update amidst of these bugs on 4th of April 2020. This update focuses on refining the frame rate for very old Intel HD players where they can set a launch option –noubershader. In addition to this, this option is not recommended for the players with high end setups who might suffer from heavy stutters if they enable this launch option. This new update also enables one to stand a chance for opting into the CS:GO beta depot which does follow the new build for the same known as “old_intel_perf_fix”.

If you’re willing to opt in to this initiative, you might want to follow this link which would redirect and guide you on the procedures.

ImAPet departs Evil Geniuses over conflict with tarik and stanislaw

Chet “ImAPet” Singh has stepped down from the coaching gig at Evil Geniuses which does confirm the previous report given by DBLTAP.

After an alleged conflict with Tarik “tarik” Celik and team’s In-game leader Peter “Stanislaw” Jarguz, the 23yo coach did decide to step away from EG’s CS:GO Operations.

In a TwitLonger post, the latter described his mental state where he believed to be in an “Extreme Depression” after losing some of his close friends which include Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov, Ethan “Ethan” Arnold and Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and it would be tough for him to forget the glory which he did achieve with them. He too did state about his relationships with Tarik and Stanislaw to be “Absolutely Horrendous” after they failed to work out on some new strategies for the team and did suffer hiccups when it came to maintaining the team chemistry. In addition to all of this, he mentioned about some more plot points believed to be a part of this matter which he would be keeping “behind closed doors” for now.

Under ImAPet, the most spectacular achievements under the team’s belt were when they overcame the Swedish powerhouse Fnatic at the StarSeries i-League CS:GO Season 8 Finals as NRG Esports followed by the ESL One New York 2019 triumph over the Danes led by Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander after they were signed by Evil Geniuses. After a plethora of victories, Chet did help EG to achieve the #1 ranking on HLTV org’s global rankings. He too did mention about how much he did miss Damian “Daps” Steele and Jacob “FugLy” Medina after he did spend time with the latter duo in past lineups.

For now, ImAPet seeks for a new home and is ready to accept offers from “any region”.

Valorant Rankings and Badges explained

2

Riot’s upcoming Project A aka Valorant is the most awaited tactical FPS game of 2020. The closed beta for Valorant is set to release on 7th of April and the fans and players worldwide are eagerly waiting to try their hands on the game.

valorant system requirements

Before the closed beta comes out, famous streamers and influencers from platforms like YouTube and Twitch were given the chance to showcase the gameplay for Valorant on 3rd of April, thereby revealing a lot of information about the game before its release

Earlier this week, the badges and rank names for different stages in the ranking mode of Valorant were revealed by Riot Games. At first glance, Valorant’s ranked mode looked a bit similar to that of Overwatch. Valorant will come with a total of 7 different ranks, starting from the lowest at the start of the season players will have to work their way up to higher rankings and to get better titles. The ranks are named as follows (from lowest to highest):

• Mercenary
• Soldier
• Veteran
• Hero
• Legend
• Mythic
• Immortal

Somewhat similar to Riot’s League of Legends, each rank has three different divisions that you need to progress through so as to move to the next rank. Unlike League, the top ranks in Valorant will still have different divisions for players to grind through. It makes total sense that the ranking system of Valorant is similar to that of League of Legends as both the games belong to the same company. Also, in the beginning of Valorant players will have to play a set amount of placement games which will determine the starting rank of that player.

MMR is also going to be crucial in Valorant, however, nothing has been revealed about it in detail so far. We are assuming that it will have to do something with the Win/Loss ratio of a player. We feel like Riot Games is trying to set up a foundation for the competitive scene for Valorant through this ranking system and other important aspects of a FPS tactical game (and if we take their game League of Legends as an example, we can clearly see that they are pretty good at it). You can check out this article so as to how you can play the game as soon as the closed beta comes out.
