The Free Fire OB55 Update release date is getting closer, and players can expect one of the biggest updates of the year for Free Fire and Free Fire MAX. The upcoming version has already appeared through Advance Server testing, revealing several new gameplay features and changes. From new weapons and a Water Horse to Kenta changes, Spider Drone, Halloween content, and the expected return of Naruto, there is plenty coming with the next update. Here is everything we know about the OB55 Update, including its release date and major features.
Free Fire OB55 Update Release Date
The Free Fire OB55 Update will release on September 16, 2026. It will replace OB54, which arrived on June 24 as Free Fire’s 9th Anniversary update.
Players should be able to download the new version through Google Play and the Apple App Store once the rollout begins. Free Fire MAX players will also receive the new update.
Garena has not yet published the complete OB55 patch notes on its global news page, so several features currently known are based on Advance Server testing and early gameplay.
New Weapons Coming With Free Fire OB55
Weapons are expected to receive one of the biggest changes in the new update.
Advance Server information has shown several weapons, including Skorp, FO12, M200, M7, RPK, Harpia, and TEC-9. These weapons cover different categories, including SMGs, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, LMGs, and pistols.
For example, Skorp is designed as a short-range SMG with armor penetration, while RPK is an LMG whose spread can decrease during continuous firing. M200 and Harpia provide additional options for players who prefer long-range fights.
New Water Horse and Horse Changes
As covered in our previous OB55 feature report, the update is also expected to make horses more interesting.
A new Water Horse variant has appeared in early gameplay with a ghost-like water design. Horses are also expected to receive additional gameplay changes, including a speed boost.
These additions could make horses more useful for rotations instead of simply being another way to travel around the map.
Battle Royale: Havoc and New Gameplay Features
Another major addition is Battle Royale: Havoc.
This mode adds Skill Cards to the regular Battle Royale experience. Players can use cards that affect areas such as weapons, movement, defense, attributes, and abilities during a match. The complete card pool and progression system have not yet been revealed.
A separate Reign of Chaos experience has also appeared for the OB55 cycle. It introduces a King who can influence matches through mechanics involving buffs, lightning, transformations, voting, and hunts.
Kenta Rework, Spider Drone and New Grenades
Several other experimental gameplay features have appeared during testing.
As we covered earlier, Kenta is expected to receive major changes, with early gameplay showing whirlwind and teleport-style mechanics.
Other features shown during testing include a Spider Drone, which could offer a different way of tracking or interacting with enemies, alongside new throwable concepts such as sonar and lava-style grenades.
These features are based on Advance Server and early gameplay information, so their final versions may be different when OB55 reaches the main server.
Naruto Content Expected to Return
The Naruto collaboration is also expected to return during the OB55 update cycle.
Our previous coverage pointed to the return of Naruto Chapter 1 content, along with features such as Hidden Leaf Village, jutsu-themed gameplay, and Naruto-inspired rewards. A Sakura Bundle is also expected to be available as a free reward through the event.
The Mystery Shop is also expected to feature Kakashi and Sakura bundles, while a re-spin system could allow players to try for a better discount.
Halloween Content and More Coming in OB55
The September update will remain active during the Halloween period, and early gameplay has already shown Halloween-themed content.
Players can expect spooky visual changes and themed items during the update cycle. Other content previously shown for OB55 includes changes to airdrops and several limited-time events.
With the Free Fire OB55 Update release date set for September 16, players now only have a little over a week to wait. More details should become clear once Garena releases the final patch notes.
