Team Apex Gaming Produces Incredible Final-Match Comeback

Team Apex Gaming’s qualification looked highly unlikely before the final match.

After 17 matches, Apex was sitting in 11th place with 91 points. The team needed a huge final game to jump into the top eight.

Jonathan had struggled to find his best form throughout the stage, while Harsh had also been relatively quiet. IGL Jelly was visibly under pressure during the matches. Hydro, however, continued to produce important individual plays for the team.

Heading into Match 18, Apex needed a near-perfect game.

And that is exactly what happened.

The team secured a WWCD with 10 finishes, adding the 20 points required to reach 111 and take eighth place.

One fewer point would have sent them to the Lower Bracket.

Hydro Steps Up When Apex Needs Him Most

Hydro played a major role in keeping Apex’s qualification hopes alive.

During a crucial fight against Version 1 x Blue Army, Hydro pulled off a 1v3 clutch, allowing Apex to survive and continue its run. The team later pushed MadKings as it continued searching for the finishes required to move into the top eight.

Another important moment came against The Knightmobs, who were themselves fighting around the qualification line.

Two Knightmobs players were trying to enter the zone. Hydro took down one, while NinjaBoi eliminated the other with a grenade from distance.

Apex was getting closer, but its job was still not finished.

MadKings’ Simp then eliminated NinjaBoi, making the situation even more difficult. Harsh immediately responded by taking Simp down.

Eventually, the match came down to three Apex players against Team Outrage’s Slug.

Hydro moved outside the zone looking for him but was knocked. Slug then jumped down towards Jonathan.

Jonathan had lost several important 1v1 fights during the tournament, but this time he delivered when Apex needed him the most. He eliminated Slug to complete the 10-finish WWCD.

That final elimination secured Apex’s place in the Semi Finals.

Nebula and Team Outrage Dominate Upper Bracket

While Apex’s last-match comeback grabbed attention, Nebula Esports was the strongest team across the entire stage.

Nebula finished first with 178 points, including an impressive 119 finish points and five WWCDs.

Team Outrage was equally dangerous when it came to eliminations. The team collected a stage-high 123 finishes and ended second with 165 points.

Version 1 x Blue Army completed the top three with 136 points, while Orangutan finished fourth with 127.

Learn From Past qualified without securing a single WWCD, while GodLike Esports improved its performance towards the end of the stage to finish sixth with 115 points.

4TR Official and Apex Gaming completed the eight qualified teams.

The Lower Bracket Survival begins on October 4 and will feature 16 teams.

The pressure will be much higher this time. Only the top four teams will qualify for the Semi Finals, while the remaining 12 teams will be eliminated from BMSD 2026.

BMSD 2026 Gets Serious From Here

The Upper Bracket has already produced several comeback stories. Nebula Esports and Team Outrage returned strongly, Version 1 x Blue Army secured its Semi Finals ticket, and Orangutan once again showed why the team cannot be written off.

GodLike also improved towards the end to secure a top-eight finish, although the team will look for an even stronger performance in the Semi Finals.

For Apex Gaming, the job is done for now. Their overall Upper Bracket performance was far from comfortable, but when everything came down to one final match, the team delivered.

The Semi Finals begin on October 8, and the stakes will only get higher from here with the BMSD title, Grand Finals spots and the road towards international competition on the line.
