While India has recorded 3,072 cases and 75 deaths. The pandemic might have forced half the world into lockdown, the gamers no matter what have a tendency to sit in front of their monitors.

New day new record at Steam, numbers now at 24 million

3

Yesterday evening, Steam brushed past 24 Million concurrent Steam users mark to settle at a new record high of 24,535,923 concurrent users. This new record is in tandem with people asked to self-quarantine themselves and work from home, due to which more and more people have turned towards gaming.

Steam has the biggest games library and offers hundreds if not thousands of free-2-play games. Steam is also home to various AAA games and leading developers. Currently, the game with most users on steam is CS:GO, which reached more than 1 Million concurrent players mark for the first time since its release in August 2012.

According to Steam Stats, more than 6.2 million players were in-game when steam breached 20 Million concurrent users mark. Although the record for the highest number of in-game players at a time still stands at more than 7 Million, a feat which was achieved in 2018 when PUBG was new to Steam. Going by the pattern we can expect this record to soon be broken and we might even see a new record of more than 8 Million players in-game.

Coronavirus is still at large and a worldwide emergency has been called upon by WHO. As more countries undergo lockdown and work from home becomes a norm, more people are expected to log-in into gaming to pass time and entertain themselves.

When Riot Games announced the arrival of their competitive shooter Valorant, every FPS fanatic was hyped, as for the first time in esports history, an FPS game was about to challenge CS:GO for its throne.

With leaks and teasers, Riot has been feeding us information about how this game will shape up once it is released. After announcing the launch of a closed beta which will be available on 7th April, Riot games hosted a Twitch Rivals match where esports professionals and personalities took their first look at the game along with us as viewers.

Riot Games are not afraid to show the fact that Valorant is heavily inspired from CS:GO. From their economic system, how rounds revolve around a C4 explosive, and basically an overall concept of the game is very much alike.

In a Tweet by 100 Thieves, they depicted how the recoil pattern of guns are extremely similar to that of CS: GO. Especially the Vandal and the Phantom, the two assault rifles might make you feel that they are the same AK-47 and M4A4 respectively that you’ve been spraying through the last decade.

Recoil has been an important aspect of CS: GO, going through the trouble to perfect your sprays makes the game all the more interesting. Every weapon posts its own unique recoil pattern, which was introduced as a mod in the 1999 edition of the game.

We have to wait until the game goes public before dropping a verdict over its similarities to CS: GO. The Twitch Rivals game generated an overall positive response and participants are excited for the game to go public for the competition to build on.

How To Reload Faster:

  1. Start to reloading your gun.
  2. Thow that weapon in close proximity from the inventory menu.
  3. Pick up the gun as swiftly as you can.
  4. The gun will be reloaded to the last bullet, thereby skipping every animation.

Although, the gun will lose all its attachment if tossed on the ground, however, if the player is fast enough to grab the gun mid-air after tossing it, the player can get back to the action with full ammunition.

Everything you need to know about VALORANT

1

Valorant is a brand new tactical “First Person Shooter” game developed by Riot Games that is set to compete with other FPS giants such as Overwatch and CS: GO. Valorant was first announced under the title “Project A” and after the overwhelming response it’s getting by the players globally, the game has certainly created a lot of buzz in the FPS gaming community.

In Valorant, there are characters/agents each having their own unique abilities to create a bigger impact on the battlefield. Recently Riot invited a handful of streamers and influencers to try out the game, and they totally loved it and gave the game a thumb up from their side! Now let’s talk a little bit about the draft and selection.

Once you start queue and get a match, you will be in a character selection screen where you will have to select your agent, only one agent can be chosen by each player and there won’t be two similar agents in a single team. It’s a best of 25 rounds and the first team to win 13 rounds wins. After 12 rounds the sides are switched. Each round consists of three phases: Preparation, Actual Fight, Pick-up (you get to pick up the weapon of your choice from the ground, timer of 6 seconds). Now let’s shed light on the economy in the game.

In Valorant, you basically have to buy the weapons with credits earned by you from last round. The weapons range from 200 to 4500 credits each, also you need to purchase agent abilities as well in order to use them (and you start with 800 credits). At the beginning of each round, the agent will have 1 signature ability unlocked (the ability which will be unlocked depends from agent to agent). In order to open an agents “Ultimate”, you need 6 ultimate points (can be gained by getting kills, by planting or defusing the spike and by collecting ult spheres; only 2 of these in the map). With all this information, you are ready to play your first Valorant game! Also, the game has several training modes to enhance your reacting time and skills.

Snapshot via HLTV

Kenny has recorded 33,558 official kills while veterans Patrik “f0rest” Lindbergand Jesper “JW” Wecksell are not far behind either. In the department of AWP frags, Kenny “kennyS” Schrub and Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs have no close competitor. Two of them were regarded as the finest snipers in the history of Counter-Strike until the arrival of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut.

Kenny has a total of 33,558 kills in 1,657 maps he has played. With an impressive 1.14 rating, Frenchman boasts of 0.77 kills per round. Mirage becomes the most played map till date in CS:GO history

For the players who have been playing Counter-Strike:Global Offensive since years, Mirage has been proven as a cult classic map for them. It’s one of the indispensable maps, and it’s been around for a long time, which has since then seen multiple versions across all of the Counter-Strike games.

While Mirage was added later to CS: GO, following on from the addition of Dust 2 and Train, it’s still one of the most played maps in the game. It’s been in the Active Duty map group for quite some time now and all indicators show that it’s going to stay that there for a long time. Players across the globe love this map as it’s layout does favor some tactical plays followed by a lot of different map points which could give players the edge.

Earlier In January, we saw multiple changes that were inculcated on this map among which was the addition of a bench in the Middle which is depicted by the image above. This map is considered to favor the Counter-Terrorist side but this doesn’t completely give up the chances for the Terrorists to win.

In addition, Dust2 has been the one among the map pool which has been carried over from CS 1.6 and been culminated in CS: GO’s map pool, it has failed to attract the player base with just 8,269 matches played till date. If we look into the records of the listed maps by HLTV.org we can witness Mirage take an unassailable lead of over 15,000+ games which has lead the dominance over other maps in the Active duty pool as recorded by HLTV. Alongside these statistics, we have seen Nuke (6,398), Inferno (12,842), and Dust 2 who have been in the heat but could never overshadow Mirage.

Mirage has been the only map to feature in every major map pool but still falls behind Inferno which does hold a record of 730 matches which were played in all big events like the Majors and other LAN tournaments making Mirage go shy by just 15 games.
