The second CS2 Major of 2027 will be held in China, tournament operator Perfect World has confirmed. The news came through a post on the Perfect World Esports App, released as part of the company’s ninth anniversary celebration marking Counter-Strike 2’s launch in mainland China.
Perfect World has not revealed the host city yet. The organizer has instead launched a challenge inviting fans to guess the location. Industry reports point to Shanghai as the likely pick, since the city hosted the 2024 Major and has staged several Dota 2 events, including the most recent The International.
When Is the Second CS2 Major of 2027?
The event is scheduled to run from November 22 to December 12, 2027, based on the standard Valve Major calendar and reports from Liquipedia. The prize pool is set at $1.25 million, matching the pool from the 2024 Shanghai Major. Perfect World has not confirmed further details, including the exact venue or team format.
Why China Hosting Again Matters
This marks the second year in a row that Asia will host a CS2 Major, following the PGL Major Singapore 2026 earlier in the year. It also means that for the first time in Counter-Strike history, Europe will not host a Major in a calendar year.
The 2024 Shanghai Major drew a strong turnout from Chinese fans despite time zone challenges for Western viewers. We had previously reported on the Shanghai and Buenos Aires Major split back in January 2026.
First CS2 Major of 2027: Buenos Aires
The first Major of 2027 will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from May 31 to June 20. FiReSPORTS will organize the event, marking the tournament operator’s debut on the Major stage. This will be the first CS2 Major held in South America since the IEM Rio Major 2022. Teams will compete for a prize pool of $1.25 million, matching the second Major’s pool.
Both 2027 Majors combined confirm a full year without a European host city, a first for the Counter-Strike scene since Majors began in 2013.
