Belgium becomes the second European Country to add gaming to the education curriculum

0

Brussels, 20 November 2020 – The Flemish Department of Education and Training has become the second European government ministry (after Poland) to recognize the value of integrating video games into the classroom, by commissioning the Game.Learn.Grow toolbox, developed by Arteveldehogeschool and Mediawijs.

The toolbox serves as a practical guide for both elementary and high school teachers with over 30 ready-to-use activities for different age groups, including exploring ancient Greece in “Assassin’s Creed”, rebuilding their school in “Minecraft”, lesson sheets and tools for teachers to create their own video-game-based activities.

A spokesman for the Flemish/Belgian video game sector David Verbruggen said: “We’re delighted with the Game.Learn.Grow toolbox and want to thank the Flemish Department of Education and Training, Arteveldehogeschool, and Mediawijs for making this possible. Here’s hoping the tools lead to an ever-expanding database of quality, game-driven content that proves that games in the classroom are here to stay.”

ISFE CEO Simon Little said: “It is extremely exciting to see another European government recognize the value of video games to education in this way. We know from our Games in Schools project that video games have an exciting role to play in the classroom, inspiring an interest in STEM, equipping students with digital skills, increasing student engagement, and learning outcomes, developing team-building, problem-solving and mental agility.”

ISFE’s Games in Schools teachers’ handbook has now been added to Klascement, the official teachers’ platform in Flanders. If the same happens in the UK, given the current covid-19 climate, this means that every house will need a stable internet connection. Broadband Genie’s fibre optic deals are ideal for studying video games at home.

The Flemish Government has also just announced a €100,000 fund to support the Flemish video games sector during the pandemic. Whilst the sales of video games already on the market skyrocketed during lockdown – used by players for education, fitness, entertainment and to stay connected with friends and family – companies with games still in development have been impacted by remote working, employee sickness, and much-delayed launches.

Flemish Media Minister Benjamin Dalle referred to the thriving and innovative games sector in Flanders and the importance of investing in its video games companies.

PUBG Mobile pre-register taken down from TapTap

0

The PUBG Mobile India section from TapTap Store has been taken down. The game is no longer available for pre-registration in this third-party application store and can potentially come back when the game is fully launched in India.

PUBG Mobile India is the localized version of famous the battle-royale game which is yet to be launched for the region. PUBG Mobile was banned in India due to privacy concerns and after a long wait, the developers have announced that a special version tailored for the Indian audience will be launched very soon.

This announcement evoked a sense of relief for the Indian fanbase and soon, the question and speculation about its launch date started making headlines. Amidst all of this, TapTap; a third-party application store for android users; listed PUBG Mobile India as one of the apps available on their store.

After visiting the tab, it was observed that the game was not available and only a pre-register section was added. This was probably done to give access to its users as soon as the game was officially launched but it was recently taken down. The pre-register button now highlights the message ‘unavailable’. The reason for this tab shutting down is not specified but presumably, the listing might have been confusing for most of the users and hence was taken down.

PUBG Mobile India is not officially released not even on TapTap, and while there have been rows of speculation about its launch, it is better to wait for the official announcement made by PUBG Corporation.

CSGO Pro Flusha Convicted Of Tax Fraud in Sweden

Fnatic star Robin “flusha” Rönnquist has been penalized financially along 120 hours of community service for tax evasion by Attunda district court.

flusha is no stranger to cheating allegations in-game; a career built around cheating allegations throughout his glory days and backed with a shady past makes any allegations all the more convincing for a non-insider. flusha’s winnings over course of 2015 are reported as salary to save on taxation by design. In Sweden any tournament winnings are taxed at a higher scale than employees.

According to reports flusha skipped on SEK 1,041,536 in his tax report for 2015. He said he was careless with the tax reporting for which the afformentioned sum went under the radar for the authorities. flusha will be handed a tax surcharge of 40% of the money that went without taxation which amounts to SEK 200,000.

The Swede also faced a possibility of four months of jail time but the courts has ordered him to complete 120 hours of community service and donate SEK 860 to the Swedish Crime Victim Fund.

PUBG Mobile star RonaK joins Oxygen Esports

0

Harpreet Singh “Ronak” Janjuha today announced on Instagram that he would be joining American organisation Oxygen Esports.

With PUBG Mobile at the cusp of coming back from being banned by the Indian government for more than 3 months, it seems like organisations are scrambling to make lineups for one of the most popular Esport titles in India. New England based Oxygen Esports is one of them, having signed ex Fnatic and Soul player RonaK.

Known for its Rainbow 6 Seige lineup, Oxygen Esports is the biggest Esports organisation in New England. Their R6 lineup has had a fair bit of success with 3rd-4th place standings at multiple Tier A tournaments. They also have lineups in Rocket League and Hearthstone. However, debuting in PUBG Mobile and that too in India seems a pretty strange move, specially considering that they are not one of the heavyweights of the NA region.

From the perspective of RonaK, this is great news having finally secured a permanent spot. With his career at Fnatic not reaching the highs of his Soul days, he was often left disappointed with a spot at the bench among inconsistent performances and off the game controversies. After a brief stint with GodL as a stand in, Ronak was ultimately left without a lineup before the big hammer on the ban came about.

It will be interesting to see which other players are picked up in the lineup and what the role of Ronak will be within it. As PUBG Mobile is getting closer to a return to India, we can expect to see more such moves happening in the region.

0

As the game is about to be re-launched in India, though insignificant, the developers of PUBG Mobile are going through the minute details as you read. At the moment, PUBG Corporation is working on their website in India.

Earlier this week, several users reported that the global version of the game was running successfully sans VPN. The developers were also transferring data from PUBG Mobile to PUBG Mobile India servers as the users were greeted with “account data migration” message.

On opening the news section on the website, users can see an option at the bottom to directly download the APK file or to download the file through the Google Play Store. However, the former leads to a predated announcement while the latter shall redirect the user to PUBG Mobile India’s Facebook page.

This apparently doesn’t mean that the game is available for download but the developers are giving final touch-ups to their website. The page also hints about a new logo for PUBG Mobile India with slight modifications over the global version.

While the homepage asserts that the game will be “coming soon”, we are not far from the day when PUBG Mobile enthusiasts will rejoice. The Indian version of the game will have green bloodstains, fully clothed characters and time restrictions among others.

PUBG Mobile in India now working without VPNs

PUBG Mobile global version has somehow resurfaced in India and is now fully functional. The game is yet to be officially launch in India with a new localized version but PUBG Mobile global version which was rendered inoperative in India since the Tencent shut down for the region is now fully working for some users.

XDA Developers’ senior writer Tushar Mehta was the first one to spot this mysterious thing. In his tweet, he posted a video in which he launched the game and even confirmed the date and time and PUBG Mobile global version was completely working for him.

He even played a match of deathmatch to prove the authenticity of his video. Several users posted affirmative comments on the thread to validate the fact that the game is actually working for some people. Others suggested that using a VPN would be a solution to this situation.

PUBG Mobile India is getting launched very soon and this version of the game is going to be different than the global version. If the game is still working in India, it raises the question about the claimed data transfer from the global to the Indian version. The game is officially coming back in India and these temporary fixes may cater to the needs but cannot be a permanent solution.

New James Bond game ‘Project 007’ announced by Hitman developers IO Interactive.

With the last James Bond movie with Daniel Craig arriving in 2021, it is prime time for the Danish developer to announce the game. The name ‘Project 007’ is still very much a work in progress like the game itself with no hints about a release date what so ever.

It can be assumed that the game drops along with the movie in 2021. The game will work with an original storyline with as few strings as possible attached to the movie or the novel.

IO Interactive is the perfect developer to work on the James Bond game, given their decade-long experience with spy and espionage games, notably Hitman, arguably the most successful series ever developed on that genre.

The James Bond movie studios MGM and Eon Productions are working with the developers for the new game. The game will be developed around IO’s proprietary game-engine called Glacier, dropping for both consoles and PCs.

“It’s true that once in a while, the stars do align in our industry; Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON and MGM, can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities. Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio,” said IO CEO Hakan Abrak.

As explained by Abrak, developing such a game is a monumental task thus IO is recruiting talents from around the world to join the development team of the Bond game.
