Riot Games’ highly popular tac-shooter Valorant surged to the next level of popularity in 2021. Valorant rewind 2021 shows that Riot Games has laid a durable base for the esports scene of its nascent FPS. 

Blockbuster release of Yoru 

Riot Games kicked off 2021 on a high note with a Japanese superhero who could meddle with realities. There was tons of hype around duelist number five, but the agent failed to live up to the expectations. Players counted on him as the master of deception who gathered intel while dealing damage. However, his pick rate never took off, even after newer agents showed up on the roster.

In 2021, Yoru barely sees any playtime. The developer’s promise of rework has players set their eyes on Yoru. 

Riot announced VCT Game Changers 

In February of 2021, Game Changers brought glad tidings for women in the first-person shooter community for the first time. The Riot-backed circuit was first launched for North America, which then boomed into a healthy scene that brought women and other marginalized genders within Valorant esports to the forefront. By the end of 2021, the game publisher cultivated an inclusive ecosystem with more female representation than ever seen before in the FPS scene. 

Controllers got an upgrade in Astra

The controller roster of Valorant saw a much-needed upgrade in Astra. The Ghanaian agent didn’t impact low ELO, but she was all the rage in high-ranked games. In professional Valorant games, her pick-rate skyrocketed, beating Omen in the controller category. Casual players still refrain from picking her due to a high learning curve, but she’s managed to find her footing. 

Sexual allegations against Sinatraa

March brought a whole new wave of drama to Valorant esports in 2021. The Overwatch legend turned Valorant pro Jay “Sinatraa” Won was “canceled” in the community following sexual assault allegations levied against him by ex-girlfriend Cleo “Cle0h” Hernandez. The allegation came ahead of North America: Masters One, which had put Sentinels into hot water as they had to bench their top gun. 

Riot also banned him from participating in official tournaments until the investigation has reached a verdict. The case was later wrapped up after Sinatraa served six months of punishment for lack of coordination, and Cleoh decided against pursuing the investigation. 

Sentinels power flex at NA Masters One

Sentinels dropping Sinatraa panned out just fine for the team. The North American organization pulled Cloud9’s AFK player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo from his competitive break to stand-in for the suspended Sinatraa. The superstar carried the whole team to the Valorant’s first Masters event, ultimately becoming the winners in the North American region. Rumors of TenZ permanently shifting to Sentinels started swirling, but his contract obligations with Cloud9 bore a huge question mark. 

Valorant’s first-ever million-dollar player transfer

The most significant transfer in Valorant history also took place in 2021. After various complications, TenZ was sold to Sentinels for a whopping $1.25M. The seven-figure buyout was confirmed by several sources, making it the biggest transfer in Valorant history so far. With TenZ on its roster, Sentinels would see a successful year as one of the best teams in the world. 

A year for women in Valorant 

Riot’s circuit for women and marginalized genders managed to be a game-changer. In 2021, tons of female Valorant teams were introduced. Major esports organization like G2 Esports, Complexity, TSM, and more dipped their toes in the female Valorant scene with rosters studded with renowned Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players. Cloud9 White remained dominant in North America, and even Asia saw an international representation in the Valorant scene, thanks to Alter Ego Celeste. Safe to say, 2021 was an excellent year for women in esports.

Breeze, Valorant’s largest map 

In April, Riot Games rolled out a vast location that split Valorant’s player base into two, just like Breeze’s middle area. The larger-than-life map wasn’t well-received by the community due to its expansive area that forced players to equip Vandal and switch agents. Close-range flashes became useless, and flank-watchers were also ruled out. For the first time, Viper-main players felt like they belonged in a Valorant map. Yoru players also had a ball as his teleport finally came into use on the vast location. 

Valorant’s first official LAN event was a success 

Masters Reyjavk was the defining moment of 2021 for Valorant, with some of the best teams in the world in attendance. The announcement that Masters two would be an offline event had fired the enthusiasm of dedicated Valorant players. The first LAN event peaked at 1,085,850 concurrent viewers, becoming Valorant’s most-watched event. The live crowd wasn’t present, but the LAN energy could be felt through the computer screens of the spectators. 

Thousands of people watched Sentinels lift the trophy after beating Fnatic in a nail-biting competition. This event also cemented Sentinels as the North American powerhouse that was impossible to beat. 

Kay/O changed the Valorant meta

Kay/O was everything competitive Valorant needed. His addition marked a drastic shift in the game’s meta, forcing players out of their comfort zones. The Radiant-killer brought a remedy for superpower-infested game meta where gunplay had slid into the background. Kay/O’s no-nonsense kit that shut down mystical abilities shone a light on Valorant’s gunplay, making it an actual FPS once again. Coupled with weapon price changes and nerfs to agent kits, this update changed how Valorant was played. 

CIS region shone at Masters 3 Berlin

Masters Berlin 3 was Valorant’s biggest LAN event. The final stage featured 15 teams that would lock horns offline. This would also decide the final teams progressing into Champions through Master stages. Gambit fought their way through the top and snatched the last win from Envy to become Masters 3 champions. The CIS team earned their stripes as one of the tough contenders of Sentinels. 

Riot added a unique twist to FPS maps 

Another location was added to the pool as 2021 wrapped up. Riot Games introduced a fresh layout to the FPS genre in an H-shaped Fracture. The double-attacker map is still struggling to find its footing, but it indeed brings overlooked agents to the front. Fracture isn’t just a cut-throat map, but it’s the first time Riot Games used a location to unfurl the mystery behind dual-earth and Valorant’s mirrorverse lore. 

Brazil VS Sentinels 

If 2021 wasn’t already packed with drama, the North America versus Brazil feud added more to it. A flaming tweet from Jared “zombs” Gitlin ruffled the entire Brazilian fanbase, stirring a Twitter beef. Notable personalities jumped in when zombs called the Brazilian region “shit” after the fanbase overreacted to Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan’s tweet. 

The FURIA and Vikings fans came to their region’s defense, prompting Riot to punish zombs. The publisher didn’t respond, but a reaction from CSGO and Valorant personalities turned this feud into a massive drama of 2021. 

VCT Champions skins raise big money 

Champions skin bundle was Valorant’s most expensive and extravagant bundle. The golden-red skin line was released to commemorate VCT Champions 2021, the end game of Valorant’s prestigious year-long circuit. The weapon duo cost 6,264 Valorant points, which is way above an average Valorant players’ range. Despite that, players hurriedly grabbed the gold skins, helping Riot Games raise $15M to split the half into participants of VCT Champions 2021. 

Controversial Cypher bug

Cypher was likely the most talked-about agent during VCT Champions 2021, thanks to an illegal bug. Riot Games had granted Acend a win over Vivo Keyd for using an exploit that provides a clear one-way on Breeze. Riot Games moved Vivo Keyd’s six rounds of exploit into Acend’s court, which changed the score line to 12-9. To account for the economic impact of the six forfeited rounds, Riot awarded Acend with one more game, ultimately taking the win away from Vivo Keyd. This decision was later overturned after community backlash, but it sure added some extra pinch of drama to controversial Champions 2021.

When a CSGO player looks for new keybinds, moaning would not be the first thing that comes to mind. CSGO’s developer console gives players a lot of flexibility to set up keybinds and these range from your usual grenade and weapon and bomb equip keybinds to jump throw keybinds and crosshair changers.

So how does one make their player agent moan in CSGO? Players have found ways to set up key binds that will make their player model MOAN at any moment in the game. It makes use of the radio command function, one that is used for communicating when players don’t have a mic. Radio commands are now the go to function for players to make use of the CSGO Moan keybind.

As the name suggests, upon using the CSGO moan keybind, the game will play an audio that is prebuilt in the game files. The moan audio file is used when a player dies and lets out a death cry, and the moan is heard only by the player who dies.

With the Moan keybind in CSGO, you can imitate the moaning sounds and make your teammates listen to the moan, right at the press of a button and have a good laugh or two. This isnt the first keybind that is in use to joke around with teammates or give them a scare as VAC Ban warnings, copypastas and other not so safe for work sounds have been introduced in the past as well.

CSGO MOAN BIND

The moan keybind is very simple to set up in CSGO. The player only has to write a single command in the developer console. The steps for CSGO Moan Bind:

  • Enable Developer console in settings
  • Open developer console (usually assigned to the tilde (~) key
  • Write the following command in the console
  • bind X “playerradio deathcry Moan”

The player can replace the ‘X’ with the key of their choice and assign it to any key. 


Once the keybind has been entered, pressing the key while in-game would trigger the radio command and the players would hear the moaning sound as many times as they press. 

WILL THE MOAN BIND GET BANNED IN CSGO?

We all know CSGO too isn’t too far behind in the number of toxic players. And the moan bind, albeit a joke can be overdone. If players keep spamming the keybind, it’ll create a very annoying cycle, rendering the players unable to hear any other audios.

Since this can hamper the playing experience, Valve may take note of it and find ways to curb it. The obvious one could be to ban the bind altogether, so players need to act quickly and try out the CSGO moan bind as soon as possible!

The second day of Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021 Grand finals round ended with Team XO finishing at the top of the overall leaderboard. The team scored a total of 139 points. TSM finished at the second spot with 127 points followed by Reckoning Esports with 122 points.

Godlike Esports, the leading team from day 1 slipped down to the fifth spot with 109 points. While Tactical Esports, The Supari Gang, and R Esports are at the bottom three spots after the completion of the second day.

A new post made by the official Latin America Valorant Social Media Handles is stirring up conversations in the Valorant community, as it might be potentially hinting at upcoming Agent skins in the tactical shooter.

In a series of posts that caught Valorant fans across the world off-guard, the Latin American Valorant social media handles posted videos of Reyna in a completely different look.

One of the posts was captioned, “I’ve barely arrived and I can already feel their fear, despicable humans!” while another one reads, “Come on, get closer. Tonight calm might be your last breath.”

However, the concept of Agent skins coming to the title hasn’t been confirmed by Riot Games as of yet, so these are all still speculations that should be taken with a grain of salt.

In a previous interview, the Valorant devs had commented on the possibility of Agent skins in the future. “We don’t ever want to put a blank no on it. We are talking about it, but as we always say, we have to do it in a smart and correct way that doesn’t compromise gameplay,” art lead Sean Marino said. 

Some avid fans are also suspecting that Agent skins might be added as a reward for a potential third tier of Agent contracts. Currently, Agent contracts are limited to two tiers per agent, with the final reward for the second tier being a weapon skin based on the specific Agent.

Riot Games has just rolled out a brand new agent that shoots laser blasts from fingers and can dive up to seven meters. Neon is stylish, electrifying, and fast. Her kit is pretty simple to understand, but her speed is tough to tackle. Here’s how players can squeeze full juice out of Neon’s kit.

How to play Neon in Valorant?

Neon is equipped with a Fast Lane, Relay Bolt, and High Gear. Her ultimate Overdrive is a combination of electricity and speed, setting her apart from any other Valorant agent. Here are a few tips for playing Neon and utilizing her kit efficiently. 

Fast Lane (C) 

Facts: Neon is supplied with dual oceanic curtains that block enemy vision and render damage. For 300 creds, Fast Lane generates a total of 170 damage to enemies who come in consistent contact with the electric lane. The 47-meter wall stays up for six seconds, enough to provide safe routes on most Valorant maps. 

How to use: Fast Lane mostly comes in handy on the attacker side. Use these barriers to create a safe path towards the bomb point. On maps like Split, Breeze, Ascent, players must pick Neon for her Fast Lane to increase their odds of winning. Neon players can create a safe route into the site to get the Spike plant on straight entryways. Attackers can also use it as bait by activating the walls and peeking from the starting point as enemies often start spamming into the Fast Lane. When they’re aiming at the barriers, peek at them to get bonus kills. 

On defense, Neon can pick first fights using her High Gear and then escape the duel with the help of her Fast Lane. The barriers allow her to divide multiple duels into sections to take down enemies one by one. 

Relay Bolt (Q)

Facts: Relay bolt is Valorant’s most powerful concuss so far as it splits into two areas upon bouncing. This crowd control power destabilizes enemies’ vision and delays their firing. For 200 creds, players get a concussion that winds up in 1.15 seconds and maims enemies for three seconds. 

How to use: Relay Bolt isn’t Neon’s most powerful ability, but it comes in handy during heavy duel situations. Using her concuss ball, the agent can draw opponents out of their hiding spots. It’s recommended to use it mid-fights so the dual crowd control can render maximum damage to enemies within its AoE. Make sure you’re throwing it in from safety. Pairing with another agents’ molotov will warrant an easy ability-kill. 

High Gear (E) 

Facts: High Gear provides Neon with supersonic powers, allowing her to run at the speed of light. The agent draws strength from her lightning tank and comes to a halt once the tank depletes. She can also slide up to seven meters, but she must bag two kills to dive more than once. During High Gear, Neon can’t equip a weapon and leaves faint footsteps behind.

How to use: This is one of her most viable powers, as she can outpace her speed contender Jett. Use this ability to escape risky situations or to break into sites. Paired with her light curtains, the agent becomes extremely powerful on the attacking side. It’s recommended to buy a Bucky or Judge to extract full use out of Neon. Press E and burst into enemies with powerful shotguns to bag bonus kills. This ability becomes ultra-OP when enemies are blind-sighted, and least expect an agent to be on them. 

How to use Neon’s ultimate? 

Facts: Neon’s Overdrive (X) is hands down one of the most overpowered ultimates in Valorant. On seven ult points, the agent runs fast and draws all her energy into the tip of her fingers. Laser blasts shoot from her tips, dealing a maximum of 22 damage per tick. She can also slide during her ult and equip weapons as well. However, her tank would continue to use the energy once she activates Overdrive. She’s provided with 40 ammo per magazine and an infinite reserve. When Neon depletes her tank, it reloads after a brief delay. 

How to use: Learning curve of Neon’s Overdrive isn’t as high. Jett players can easily control their movement and shoot lightning blasts at enemies. Use this ability when you spot multiple enemies in your sight with less cover. It’s not recommended to activate Overdrive for one enemy on larger locations. By the time you find the second opponent, her light tank would have been depleted.

CSGO Matchmaking may have its flaws but it is still the Go-to game mode for most players. If you are a casual player, it is likely that you prefer CSGO MM games, instead of third party matchmaking services like FACEIT, ESEA, GamersClub and 5E Arena. These services are good in a lot of ways, CSGO Matchmaking has its own charm, with the rank displaying right next to your avatar be it a Gold Nova or Global Elite.

Hackers are still at large in CSGO MM, and Valve has done little to curb this problem. But thanks to third-party services like csgostats.gg and Leetify, it is possible to at least check how many hackers you have played with or against in each game. 

But hackers aren’t the only issue in CSGO, there are other problems at hand in MM. Due to weird queue times and dwindling player base, players are matched up against players with completely different ranks and skill groups. A silver elite may be matched up with Master Guardians or even Global Elites in some cases, which ruins the player experience.

RANK DISPARITY IN DIFFERENT REGIONS, WHY YOU MATCH VS GLOBALS AND SMFCS?

Regions with a low player base have the worst rank distribution in CSGO, and North America and Oceania are the worst affected.

Leetify put together a detailed collection of Data, to find out why this disparity exists and why there is such weird matchmaking in your MM games. Since the most common rank is assumed to be Gold Nova, being in the middle of the pack, it is surprising to see that not being the case in some regions.

In North America, Majority of the players are in the Silver Ranks, making up for more than 50%. While in Europe, Asia and South America, silvers only make up 30% of the players.

AVERAGE CSGO RANK?

As expected the average rank in CSGO MM is Gold Nova. It may stretch up to Master Guardian in some regions but for the most part it is Gold Nova.

Some regions, due to a smaller player base have to accept their fate and be stuck in ELO hell of silver. This means that the average rank is Silver Elite in Oceania and Silver Elite Master in NA. 

HOW MANY GLOBAL ELITES ARE THERE IN CSGO?

According to the stats from Leetify, only 0.4-1.4% of players are Global Elites. Global Elite being the highest rank, is very difficult to conquer and with the ever present problem of Hackers in CSGO, it is even more commendable when a player reaches the Global Elite Rank.

Asia has the lowest share with 0..4% Global Elites whille Europe and Latin America Stand out with 1.4% Global elites each.

CSGO Pro FUSION Passes Away

Professional CSGO player Alex “FUSiON” Dincof has passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2022, at the young age of 23. The exact reason behind his death is still unclear.

The Italian CSGO pro started his career in competitive CSGO when he was 17-year-old. In 2016, he joined the esports organization DOGES before winning his first LAN tournament shortly after.   The team landed a second-place finish at ESL in 2017, a significant improvement over their 9th position finish in 2016.

After DOGES, Dincof had played for teams like Outplayed and MKers.

The CSGO community is left saddened by the news, and other CSGO pros across the world have expressed their condolences through social media.

“I just got to know that FUSiON passed away a couple of days ago,” Italian CSGO player Bibu said in a Tweet. “I can’t really believe this, and I don’t know how this happened but this feeling is horrible.”

Krafton is making an interesting addition to Battlegrounds Mobile India soon and its first look has been leaked by a YouTuber. A video was recently posted by Priyank1798GC and it leaked the upcoming voice packs of Jonathan, Snax and Kaztro in English and Hindi language.

BGMI is one of the most popular games in India right now and some names have been at the forefront of it. The esports scene allied to this game is thriving right now and the entire community knows players like Jonathan and Snax. As per the leak, the officials have created in-game voice packs with the help of these celebrities.

A voice pack is simply the in-game chat function that players can use to give several commands without using the microphone. These can be things like marking enemies, locations and even giving radio commands like “Get the car” or “Fall Back”.

The voice packs come in a variety of languages in the global version of PUBG Mobile and now, a Hindi voice pack will be seen in BGMI as well. These packs could be customized by players and it looks like there could be a purchase option for different kinds of voice packs.

In the video, two kinds of voice packs are seen. They are Basic and Mythic voice packs and come in the voice of Jonathan, Snax and Kaztro. A total of six options could be added to the game.

This leak is not officially confirmed by any sources yet so it is hard to determine if all of these voice packs are actually going to be added in the game and how their value will be determined.
