nitr0 returns to Team Liquid CS:GO

After floppy who joined Extra Salt from competing at Valorant, the 26 year-old veteran comes out of retirement to compete in Counter Strike. 

Team Liquid have signed Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella from 100 Thieves Valorant, back to their active CS:GO division, the North American organization announced on their Twitter handle. This marks the return of the nitr0 to Team Liquid after stepping down from Counter Strike:Global Offensive in August 2020 to pursue a career in Riot’s first person tactical shooter, Valorant.

After having decided to overhaul their roster for the 2022 pro season after their unsuccessful major run, Team Liquid were poised to transition a plethora of changes within their CS:GO roster which saw them move Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Jake “Stewie2K” Yip and Michael “Grim” Wince to the bench. This indeed made the way for Josh “oSee” Ohm from Extra Salt who is to replace FalleN on the team’s sniper duties while a surprising move featured Richard “shox” Papillon joining Liquid from Team Vitality who recently signed the ex-Astralis trio. 

nitr0 had reportedly been linked to Team Liquid as their final piece to the puzzle under whom the previous iterations of Team Liquid secured championships at the ESL One Cologne 2019, Intel Grand Slam Season 2,  BLAST Pro Series : Los Angeles 2019 and most notably the $1,000,000 Intel Grand Slam season 2 after scaling the 4-tournament threshold over Vitality at Cologne’19. 

Team Liquid’s plans to restructure comes after the failure to bag events across the past two years having won their last event at the Intel Extreme Masters XIV – Chicago back in 2019.

Valkyrae Announces Break From Streaming After Two-Year Anniversary of YouTube Move

In a Tweet posted in December 2021, popular streamer Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter revealed that her contract with YouTube would expire on 15th January, 2022. In a recent announcement, the star has confirmed that she’ll be stepping away from the platform for a while after her two-year anniversary of her move to YouTube.

“Tomorrow is going to be my last stream for a while,” the 30-year-old said during a livestream on January 14. “It is my two-year anniversary of streaming on YouTube. I’ve been streaming on YouTube for two years.”

While she didn’t reveal if she would be staying on YouTube or switching to a different streaming platform entirely, Valkyrae emphasized that she’d be gone “for a while,” while claiming that her announcement video wasn’t ready.

“I’m gonna be gone for a while because the announcement video isn’t ready,” Valkyrae said. “I can’t really stream on said platform until the announcement video is posted and I don’t know when it’s going to be ready.”

A lot of Valkyrae fans on social media platforms have started speculating that she might be switching to Twitch or Facebook Gaming after the expiration of her YouTube contract.

NRG Esports streamer Lindsey aka “Lulu” has been banned on Twitter for standing up to bullies, with fans claiming she was unjustly banned.

Several female streamers are exposed to misogyny and hate speech online with rarely any action taken against such bullies. Big names like Pokimane are also subjected to the same. Being a successful woman streamer is getting harder and harder with constant hate from users who want to see them as anything but successful.

Lulu called out her haters which Twitter deemed as something that goes against their guidelines and she ended up getting banned. This sparked a debate on several social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit.

Several community members and fans were quick to jump in her support as Twitter was filled with “#freelulu” posts that saw her propel up the trending section. Twitter, as a company was also bashed for stopping Lulu from defending herself as banning her, took away her freedom of speech in a way.

Fans call for better screens that filter out misogynistic remarks on social media so that it becomes a safer place for women, but as long as unjustly bans are getting handed, it is difficult for social medias to be one.

Fortnite Is Coming Back To iOS, Thanks To GeForce Now

After the legal dispute between Apple and Epic was settled last year in September where the federal court gave its final verdict in favor of Apple on all accounts, the chances of Fortnite ever coming back on iOS basically went to zero. 

But fret not as Nvidia’s GeForce Now service is making its way to iOS officially next week. For those unaware, GeForce Now is a revolutionary way of cloud computing by Nvidia where you can log on to a personal cloud instance and play games online. While the service is free for an hour daily, the paid model isn’t that expensive and only costs around 9$ for an RTX 3080 level performance instance with priority access. 

With the official support for Apple devices coming next week, users on iOS can now access GeForce Now services via Safari browser on their device. Epic is also launching a special reworked mobile version of Fortnite that will be touch-friendly and only available via GeForce Now. The beta will n\be public and anyone interested can join the version, but remember that only a limited number of players will be admitted. Also, the beta version will be available for both paid and free users of GeForce Now. 

In a blog post talking about the launch next week, Nvidia said:

“While PC games in the GeForce Now library are best experienced on mobile with a gamepad, the introduction of touch controls built by the GeForce Now team offers more options for players, starting with Fortnite. And we’re just getting started. Cloud-to-mobile gaming is a great opportunity for publishers to get their games into more gamers’ hands with touch-friendly versions of their games. PC games or game engines, like Unreal Engine 4, which support Windows touch events can easily enable mobile touch support on GeForce Now.” – Nvidia Corporation

While Fortnite isn’t officially coming to iOS as a Game App on App Store, the possibility of Apple blocking Nvidia’s GeForce Now service on iOS is close to none. It looks like Epic has found a loophole in Apple’s Ban policy, as it will be extremely difficult for Apple to block access to GeForce Now via Safari without any negative press and major criticism from iOS users and Nvidia.

In the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, 11-year-old Suryansh hanged himself in the house on Wednesday afternoon. It is being told that he was used to playing games on his mobile. So far the police have not found any suicide note.

Suryansh, 11, living in Shankaracharya Nagar in the capital, hanged himself in the house on Wednesday afternoon. It is being told that he had a habit of playing games on his grandfather’s mobile. Suryansh was a student of class V in a private school. So far the police have not found any suicide note. The investigation revealed Suryansh’s habit of playing free fire game. It is being told that due to this he was often scolded in the house. The police are investigating the case.

On the matter, SI Kamlesh Raikwar of Bajaria police station told that Yogesh Ojha lives in Shankaracharya Nagar. He has an eyeglasses shop in Bagsevaniya. They have two children Suryansh and a three-year-old daughter. On Wednesday afternoon, Suryansh was watching TV with his cousin in a room on the second floor of the house.

After some time his brother left from there, after which Suryansh’s grandmother reached the room at around three o’clock in the afternoon, where she saw Suryansh hanging. The family members took him out of the noose and took him to the hospital. After doing the checkup, the doctor declared Suryansh dead.

According to the information received, no suicide note has been found from the spot. In preliminary interrogation with the family members, it has been found that Suryansh was used to playing the Free Fire game on his grandfather’s mobile. He was often reprimanded for this. Suryansh used to download the free fire games on mobile as soon as he got a chance and whenever a family member saw him, he used to delete the game. The police are guessing that due to the addiction to the game, he has taken such a big step.

Pokimane accused of doing drugs

The biggest female streamer on Twitch, Pokimane has been accused of using drugs and controlled substances on live stream after old clips go viral on Twitter and other social media platforms.

Pokimane was once again thrown into the spotlight after freshly minted Twitch partner Jidion hate raided her, where his fans spammed “L+Ratio” in her chat, followed by messaging her audience to create discord.

Just when this incident blew up, a Twitter user accused Pokimane of using drugs and controlled substances on a live stream which she strictly denied. Later she took to Twitter to address the rumors. Soon after she made her profile private, in light of the several users attacking her on the platform.

“I truly cannot believe I have to say this. But no, I don’t do coke or any drugs for that matter. I’ve never even done a drinking stream, y’all.

“The Olympic level reach could get cold metals tbh.” she said.

 Pokimane once opened Japanese-based loot boxes in one of her streams, where there was sugar that was put in lines, similar to how addicts arrange coke. This clip from ages ago was misinterpreted by many and she was subjected to unnecessary hate.

Pokimane getting banned for a day while other creators getting monthlong bans may be one reason behind why she has been getting so much hate in light of the recent DMCA takedowns.

Twitch is yet to post a statement addressing the situation but when do they ever!
