ESL Pro League S15: Virtus.pro to play under the name “Outsiders”

Dzhami “Jame” Ali and men would play as “Outsiders” at the upcoming ESL Pro League S15 after being flagged by ESL to avoid using their original banners citing the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

In the past week, ESL through an official statement have announced that they have cut ties with the Russian government which include individuals or organizations under alleged or confirmed EU sanctions related to the ongoing political conflict between Russia and Ukraine which follows the word that no Russian based teams would be allowed to participate at the Pro League Season 15.

As reported by Dexerto, going into the EPL S15, Virtus.pro would play as Outsiders as said and would gel with the updated rules and regulations set by ESL. A similar situation was also countered at the recently concluded GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai 2022 where Team Spirit who did play under the Russian banner “Team Spirit” wore jerseys that said “PEACE”. Virtus.pro now Outsiders would go head to head with FURIA Esports in their Group B opener at the Pro League.

Gambit have too been mentioned among the two teams who won’t be able to participate at the EPL S15 under their original organization although they can compete under a different team name. Gambit are yet to release an official statement on the verdict passed by ESL.

Unlike BLAST and WePlay, ESL never held the players guilty for the current conflict and gave them a safe passage to compete. In addition, they would have to change their team merchandise which should not represent anything related to the Russian ethnicity.

Ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, massive business conglomerates have decided to either pull out of the CIS region or discontinue their services until there is clarity on the political tensions although there has been a massive support in the interest of Ukraine.

Snoop Dogg joins FaZe Clan

0

Renowned West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg has officially joined top American esports organization FaZe Clan. The chart-topping artist is the latest talent with little to no gaming background to join the organization.

A rapper joining the organization is of little surprise to the FaZe fans, given how their culture has been tied to this genre of music ever since they were founded back in 2010. From Logic to Lil Uzi, FaZe Clan was associated with several rappers who were a part of their content.

FaZe Clan announced that Snoop will become one of the company’s directors having become a publicly-traded company following their merger with BRPM. Snoop, himself, announced his membership with a clean and precise: “Joined FaZe Clan.” Tweet.

“The organic relationship between Faze and Snoop has been building for years now, so we are thrilled to officially welcome Faze Snoop to the family,” Faze Clan chief strategy officer Kai Henry said.

“As the original internet kid and first-generation gamer, Snoop has always understood the cultural connection between music, lifestyle and gaming. Today, Snoop is a prominent voice in the emerging Web3 community and we have exciting plans to create together in the metaverse, driving new engagement opportunities for both of our fanbases.”

Snopp Dogg joins the plethora of non-gaming talents that FaZe Clan boasts but he is certainly one of the most well-known faces in the world. With Snopp on board, FaZe Clan will be pushed to even a greater mainstream relevance that esports organizations are usually deprived of.

The BGMI roster of GodL has reportedly earnt over ₹1 crore by winning tournaments since the launch of this game.

Battlegrounds Mobile India was launched in the country as an alternative to PUBG Mobile and its fanbase quickly adapted. The first and only tournament that officials hosted was called as BGIS 2021 and its numbers depicted that the popularity of this battle royale is still evergreen in India.

As the game was introduced in India, the esports organizations were getting ready and GodLike Esports made probably their biggest move till date by acquiring the star-studded roster of Neyo, Jonathan, Clutchgod and ZGod with Ghatak as their mentor.

According to a report by Sportskeeda, this move has absolutely paid off as the roster has accumulated more than 1 Crore INR in earnings. Some of their major wins in various tournaments and its earnings is given below:

BGMI Ban in India: Why is NGO asking for a ban?

Battlegrounds Mobile India is a popular battle royale game in India and it has replaced PUBG Mobile to become the top grossing BR game in the country. This game is less than a year old and still has millions of active players due to multiple factors and Prahar, an NGO based in Assam has urged the Indian government to block BGMI. Here are some of the factors that can shed a light on this appeal.

As stated before, BGMI is in India to replace the need of PUBG Mobile. This is due to the fact that Indian govt. banned PUBG Mobile two years ago due to privacy and user data concerns. This translated into a huge player base left stranded and a blooming esports industry dying in the country.

As the dust was settling on this ban, the creators of BGMI, Krafton Inc, cut all their ties with Chinese gaming giant Tencent. After this move, they were constantly working with the Indian govt to unban this app and finally, a new game called BGMI was launched.

The NGO called Prahar is asking the government to put a ban on this application as well because it resembles PUBGM and is still a threat to large consumer data available in India. There were several demands in this letter presented by Prahar.

The main concern behind this is that BGMI is still run by Tencent and hence it should be banned. Several facts like how Tencent owns a large stake and Krafton Inc. and hence is involved in BGMI as well were implied.

Overall, this appeal is to remove BGMI as it replaced PUBGM in India and it will be interesting to see how Indian Govt. will react to it.

Valorant has been a title that has experienced immense popularity right from its closed beta testing. With the game picking up the pace, the game developers are also trying to fix as many issues as possible but still, there are some that may slip through them.

How to Identify Yoru’s Clone in Valorant

0

Valorant Episode 4 Act 2 update has brought with it the much-anticipated Yoru rework that has changed the core mechanics of the hero and made it somewhat viable in higher levels of competitive play.

One of the biggest changes to the Japanese Duelist is the new ‘Fakeout’, which sends a carbon-copy of Yoru in a specific direction. When shot at, the clone explodes and blinds all enemies in a cone-shaped area, which makes it a great tool for clearing choke points or taking important objectives across maps.

If you’re playing against a Yoru, this clone can be quite annoying at times. A good Yoru player will often catch you off-guard using his clone and more often than not you’ll find yourself shooting the clone and being immediately flashed by it. This is why you need to learn to identify the real Yoru while being able to differentiate it from the clone.

Here are some ways you can identify the Yoru clone after the Valorant 4.04 update:

  • Yoru’s clone isn’t affected by flashes or concusses, which means you can easily identify the real Yoru by throwing out a flash or concuss and checking whether he’s affected by it or not.
  • Abilities like Skye’s ultimate, Cypher’s ultimate and Sova’s recon will only reveal the real Yoru and won’t affect the clone whatsoever.
  • Reyna can easily identify the real Yoru when in her ult (the real Yoru glows brighter).
  • You can pass through Yoru’s clone, while the real Yoru blocks your player movement.

For a list of tips and tricks you can use to spot the Yoru clone, you can also check out this video.

Classic CS 1.6 maps that are missed in CSGO

Valve has refreshed the counter-strike franchise with new maps, but dedicated players still look back at CS 1.6 maps with nostalgia. Some of the classic locations are impossible to forget.

Shooter games come and go, but CSGO is evergreen. Valve’s first-person shooter is one of the oldest five-versus-five games with a dedicated player base that has seen it evolve.

In 22 years, Valve has rolled out over 100 official maps in the franchise, but not all are available in the latest version. Older players can’t stop reminiscing about the classic maps and wonder how they’d work in the modern counter-strike.

The best CS 1.6 maps that should return to CSGO

Players are still hoping for some legendary locations to make it to the CSGO map pool. Here are the top CS 1.6 maps that may sit well in the casual, competitive, and deathmatch modes of CSGO.

fy_pool_day

Back in the day, nothing was better than a pool day under clear sky. The stark tiles contrasting the brown hills still trigger a bittersweet nostalgia whenever Pool Day’s image pops up on the internet.

The assortment of weapons laid outside the toilet, swimming tech, and enclosed interiors ensured that Pool Day was the most entertaining map in CS 1.6.

While the map design surely doesn’t suit competitive play, Pool Day could be a fun addition to the wingman category.

Cs_estate

Counter-strike players love a scenic location set in the nighttime. Cs_estate had a haunting villa, dark alleys, and underground tunnel, all the right ingredients for a light-hearted hostage mode.

The quiet location had epic contrast of dark outsides and sleek villa interior. The fluorescent corridors were undoubtedly tricky to walk the hostages to the dark road safely.

Unlike Pool Day, Estate’s map design could actually work in competitive if it weren’t hostage mode. However, the dark light would be a massive nuisance to ensure fair competition. Still, it’s one of the legendary maps that may see success in CSGO’s casual mode.

Cs_havana

Set in Cuba, this homely location was a hit among the condition zero and 1.6 fans. The dim blue light of cs_havana sets it apart from other maps, but it’s also part of the reason why it didn’t make a suitable competitive map in CSGO.

Among CS 1.6 maps, Havana was the most complicated one to master due to its unique layout.

This hostage rescue map didn’t make it to the official map pool, but it remains an iconic location. CSGO’s map layout differs vastly from what Havana has to offer, so it makes sense why Valve would leave it in 1.6.

De_prodigy

The bomb defusal location was set in what seems to be a military base in the mountains. The dim light paired with the mountains added a dreamy feel to the deadly site. Tons of choke points and an open outside area made it an enjoyable defusal location.

While players loved locking horns on this mountainous location, its map design wasn’t suited for competitive play in CSGO. Cramped enclosed areas and confusing interiors would make it a less tactical map in polished counter-strike. But, players would still love to run it in casual game mode.

Cobblestone (de_cbble)

Cobblestone did funnel into CSGO, thanks to its popularity in the counter-strike franchise, but it didn’t last long. The rocky outlands were added into competitive, but Valve deemed it unfit for ranked mode.

New players preferred to queue in Mirage, Dust 2, and other locations, making Cobblestone less popular. Vertigo replaced it in 2019, but now players want it back.

The CSGO players are desperately waiting for Cobblestone to return to the competitive map pool. It is still available on official servers, but only in casual modes. Players want one more chance to take it on a spin in a more competitive setting.
