Grand Theft Auto VI is gearing up for launch in the coming months and we have one of the names from the highly anticipated cast. Veteran actor Stephen Root, known for his roles in hits like NewsRadio and Barry has confirmed his role in Rockstar’s game as per his latest interview, which put an end to months of speculation.
Root comes into GTA 6 with an Emmy nomination under his belt, having delivered stunning performances in the likes of Office Space, Barry, King of the Hill and The Man in the High Castle. He will be voicing Brian Heder, a mentor to the protagonist, Jason Duval, and likely a pivotal figure in the game.
With all the promotional materials coming out, Root defended his decision to reveal his role by stating that fans were able to connect the dots just by his voice alone. While Rockstar has kept the remaining cast away from the public, Root’s popularity seems to have outlived their NDAs, leading to the big revelation.
If Root’s involvement is anything to go by, it only goes to show that Rockstar takes these aspects of the game very seriously and given how the game has got other characters, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to assume they would be equally great actors who will bring some of that Hollywood pedigree to the game and a hint of realism with the characters.
It goes without saying that Rockstar will not reveal the other voice actors until we are close to the launch, but Root’s revelations speak highly of the lengths Rockstar has gone to in bringing each character to life. Only time can tell who the other actors will be, but as of now the future looks bright for the game as the launch date creeps closer, with two months to go.
