Esports World Cup 2027 and 2028 CS2 Dates Revealed

Esports World Cup 2027 will bring Counter-Strike 2 back to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 20 to August 1, organizers confirmed on September 14, 2026. The main event keeps this year’s expanded format, with 32 teams competing for a $2 million prize pool. A dedicated open qualifier at the Esports Boulevard in Riyadh runs from July 16 to 18 and hands out four spots at the main event. Organizers also confirmed a 2028 edition, tentatively scheduled for July 14 to 30.

Here is everything confirmed so far.

Esports World Cup 2027 CS2 Schedule and Format

The Esports World Cup organizers announced the CS2 details for the 2027 and 2028 editions of the Riyadh festival. The 2027 event runs from July 20 to August 1 and keeps this year’s 32-team, $2 million prize pool structure.

The open qualifier remains part of the calendar too. It takes place from July 16 to 18 at the Esports Boulevard in Riyadh and awards four spots at the main event.

This follows the two-week CS2 format the tournament adopted in 2026, when the competition ran across 12 days in Paris, France, before Team Spirit beat FUT Esports 3-1 in the grand final to win the title.

Slot Distribution for Esports World Cup 2027

Organizers also revealed how the 32 main-event slots will be filled for 2027. The breakdown is as follows:

  • 20 Global VRS invites
  • Two North American VRS invites
  • Two South American VRS invites
  • Two Asian VRS invites
  • Two Wildcard invites
  • Four teams from the Riyadh Open Qualifier

Most spots go to teams through the Valve Regional Standings, while the open qualifier keeps a path open for teams outside the regular invite pool.

Esports World Cup 2028 Details

The 2028 edition of the Esports World Cup is tentatively scheduled to run from July 14 to 30. Organizers have not yet announced further details, including the format, prize pool, or qualification structure for that year. We will update this article once more information becomes available.

Esports World Cup 2026 Recap

The most recent edition of the tournament took place in Paris, France, from August 12 to 23, 2026, with a $2 million CS2 prize pool on the line. Team Spirit won the title after defeating FUT Esports 3-1 in the grand final at the Accor Arena, taking home $600,000 and 1,000 Club Championship points. Danil “donk” Kryshkovets earned MVP honors for his performance across the event.

The win marked Team Spirit’s second trophy of 2026, following an earlier win at PGL Astana in May. FUT Esports, who entered the event as the 15th-ranked team in the world, left Paris with $340,000 after pushing the series to four maps.

With CS2 now locked in for both 2027 and 2028, the Esports World Cup continues to be one of the biggest fixtures on the Counter-Strike calendar heading into the next two seasons.
