Spirit Qualify for EWC 2026 Grand Finals

Spirit are through to the Grand Finals of the Esports World Cup, beating Legacy with a clean 2-0 scoreline. From a poor start to the event, Spirit put all the top dawgs to fall by the wayside to finally get a shot at the trophy and lion’s share of the 2 million.

  • Mirage was left over

Map 1: Dust2; Pick: Spirit; Winner: Spirit

Legacy’s strong start put Spirit on the back foot for most of the first half, but Spirit managed to turn the tide before the break. Having found momentum, Spirit put together a streak to level the scoreline before moving to their defence. Spirit hit double digits in the second half right away with a streak of their own that put them right on the line. After losing a single round, they won back-to-back to bag their own map pick with a 13-7 scoreline to start the series.

Map 2: Ancient; Pick: Spirit; Winner: Spirit

With streaks put up by both sides, the first half closed with a levelled scoreline as Spirit, despite having played better, struggled. Starting the second half on a poor note, the Spirit offence switched to a fast playstyle, letting donk play freely, which generated openings against a stubborn Legacy defence. With sh1ro and donk set free, the Spirit offence sailed through like a hot knife through butter, leading to a comfortable second half as the map closed 13-7.

Spirit will face an unlikely opponent in FUT in the Grand Finals, where they come in as heavy favourites, but given how the underdogs have performed, this match can go either way. It goes without saying this is Spirit’s game to lose, but given how FUT has defied the odds several times in this tournament alone, it will be one heck of a Grand Final.
