Following a weeklong intense Counter Strike 2 action, the group stage concludes, leaving 16 teams that will head to the single-elimination playoffs. One of the most heavily stacked brackets that we have seen in the second half of the year, promises us one of the most entertaining CS2 tournaments of 2026.
It goes without saying that having the likes of Falcons, Vitality and Spirit on the same side of the bracket has turned a lot of heads, given that they are top teams who generally meet only in the Grand Finals. Given that they are facing each other early on in the playoffs, we do not have to wait till Sunday to see them go head-to-head.

With all of the big names fighting for the lion’s share of the $2 million, no matter which side of the bracket they are on, it is obvious that no one will be keeping their playbook hidden. Given how the group stage played out, Falcons are the clear favorites coming into the tournament as Major champions, leaving the others a notch behind. Vitality, MOUZ, and Spirit are all aiming to take them down but their current form doesn’t spark confidence.
The Esports World Cup has been praised in general by the Counter Strike community and has delivered on the expectations set for it. Going toe to toe with all the top CS2 tournaments, EWC has become a big talking point of the competitive calendar and with the big names in the playoffs we are in for a treat for the rest of the week.
