Only hours after the Team Spirit Dota 2 roster lifted the trophy for The International 2026, its CS2 roster reigned supreme at the Counter-Strike 2 Esports World Cup 2026 tournament, taking down FUT in the Grand Final to secure the trophy.
The EWC 2026 CS2 Grand Final ended with a score of 3-1 in favor of Team Spirit. Prior to this, Spirit had defeated Legacy 2-0 to land their spot at the finals. FUT, on the other hand, took down tournament favorites FURIA in the semis after a nail-biter BO3.
While FUT did put up a good fight and had some great moments, Team Spirit seemed to have the upper hand throughout the series.
FUT kicked off the best-of-five by grabbing their first map pick, Cache, by a score of 13-10. However, Spirit retaliated hard, taking both of their own map picks while also snatching FUT’s second map pick, Ancient, 16-14 in overtime to cement their victory.
FUT managed to force overtime as well on Anubis, one of Spirit’s map picks. But a flawless T-side OT from the Russian org denied FUT an early 2-0 lead, and potentially the entire series.
With three back-to-back wins on Anubis, Ancient, and Nuke, Team Spirit took home the prestigious CS2 EWC 2026 trophy and a $600,000 USD in prize money. FUT received $340,000 USD for finishing second place.
Once again, Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets was the star of the show with amazing performances across all four games. The 19-year-old prodigy ended the series with a whopping 88 kills while conceding only 70 deaths, averaging a 91.9 ADR.
