ESL greeted with petition to reveal crosshairs of CSGO pros

With the recent CSGO update which was shipped on Friday, Valve has enabled players to check the crosshairs of other players in-game. The process of checking anyone’s crosshair is as simple as just clicking on their names on the scoreboard. This made room for players to experiment with others’ crosshairs and also to come up with new and innovative crosshairs themselves. The community also managed to find a loophole in this system to mask their actual crosshairs or to simply troll the spectators.

With this newly released mechanic, curious players could just boot up CSGO and spectate a professional game to see all the pro players’ crosshairs, but the people watching on Twitch weren’t so lucky.

During the current worldwide lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 situation, many gamers are deprived of PC access and aren’t able to use computers to spectate the pro matches of CSGO. This directly resulted in the Twitch viewerships for games skyrocketing during this period. CSGO enthusiasts could hop in on any ESL streams on Twitch to enjoy their favourite game.

Reddit user and CSGO fan u/whitestarbg has made a post requesting ESL to show pro players’ custom crosshairs on-stream. The post has gained huge positive feedback from the Global Offensive community and other Redditors have wholeheartedly supported the petition through the comments.

This subtle change will certainly make streams much more enjoyable for the thousands of viewers who prefer to watch the professional matches on Twitch. It will also enable viewers to recreate the crosshairs that they find useful.

Fnatic players “reminded of their obligations” following growing misconduct in PUBGM roster

Fnatic PUBG Mobile recently posted an official statement on their Instagram handle where they acknowledged that everything is not okay among the members of their PUBG Mobile roster. Here’s what all they had to say in their official statement:

To all who consider themselves Fnatics Our vision for India has always been to establish Fnatic as the most professional and well-respected brand in the market, and we continue to strive to get to that place by providing meaningful content and fan activities, and by levelling up the athletes and content creators we seek out and help towards national fame and eventually international glory. We all set out for this mission together and whereas we have passed many hurdles already and seen great success both in sports and content, we are not the lean and mean war machine we want to be. Over the last few weeks we have seen a decline in how we communicate within the team, both internally as well as externally, which has lead to things being said publicly that we do not support nor will allow. We have now reminded players of their obligations to our fans, to each other, and to Fnatic. We have also highlighted that we will take serious action against any player who does not align with Fnatic's values, and the expectations of our fantastic fans. We believe in this team, this community and all Indian gamers across the country. As much as winning is the absolute core of our mission and identity, so is the importance on how walk the path to get there. We will do everything necessary to create a healthy and competitive environment for the players of today as well as tomorrow.

First of all, Fnatic talked about their vision for India as a brand and how they want to establish themselves as a professional and well-respected brand in the Indian market not just for the present but for the future as well. They also hinted towards putting their focus on the content-creation part as well and their goal to attain national fame, and glory at an international level.

Fnatic PUBG Mobile accepted the fact that there had been a decline in the communication aspect of the team recently both internally and externally, which lead to things coming out and being discussed in public by the members of the team(most probably hinting towards recent livestreams of Sc0ut and Owais respectively).

Fnatic also highlighted that they are going to take strict actions if any player is found to not align with Fnatic’s values and the expectations of the fans that they have all around the world. They clearly mentioned that, “Winning is the absolute core of their mission and identity.” “We will do everything in our power to create a healthy and competitive environment for all the players”, they further added. It will be really interesting to see if Fnatic is able to figure it out something and resolve the issues within the team.

Sick retires from competitive CSGO to pursue Valorant

After being benched from Complexity Gaming to make way for the juggernaut, Hunter “SicK” Mims has taken a step back from competitive Counter-Strike. 21-year-old has taken a turn in his career comparatively early. Being played roughly about 800 official maps in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, he feels the game has become “stale and tedious” for him.

Hunter has been playing top tier Counter-Strike since he was 16-year-old and has represented prominent organizations like TSM, Misfits, Rogue and Complexity. He was then regarded as one of the finest revelations of North-America’s Counter-Strike scene. However, presently his career is in uncharted territory after being benched from Complexity Gaming and standing-in for several tier 2 teams.

He is not the first Counter-Strike professional to pursue a career in Valorant. Braxton “Brax” Pierce retired from Counter-Strike to chase Valorant as early as late February. He and his former Counter-Strike teammate Keven “AZK” Larivière are signed with prominent Dota 2 organisation T1.

Zeus & XANTARES banned on Twitch for racial slurring

According to StreamerBans, Ismailcan ‘XANTARES’ Dörtkardeş and Danylo ‘Zeus’ Teslenko have been banned on their respective Twitch accounts.

After XANTARES‘s Twitch account was banned, the community who was still seeking for the reason behind the same got to know about it from a Twitter user’s reply on StreamerBan’s tweet. According to him, XANTARES was attaching the cable of his new mouse and that’s when he was allegedly called a pig by someone on voice chat after the latter heard Ismailcan breathing into his mic. On hearing this, XANTARES did reply with a Turkish slur which is believed to be a direct threat to someone.

XANTARES currently plays under the banner of BIG Clan, a German Esports team.

Along with the above player, former Natus Vincere In-Game leader Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko’s Twitch account was also banned after the 32yo Ukrainian used a homophobic slur in Russian.

As we can witness here, Twitch has a zero tolerance policy regarding the above and it does breaks the code of conduct if someone uses racial slurs on their stream. These bans were inculcated in the last 24 hours and as of now, the players haven’t reacted to their bans.

This news isn’t shocking as Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev from Natus Vincere had been banned twice as his Twitch, the latest one being on 13th of August 2019 after he had called one of his teammates with a racial homophobic slur but in a jokingly manner.

In defense, s1mple did state about Twitch being a terrible platform after it’s strict user policy got into his nerves.

Triumph upset Cloud9 in ESL One: Road to Rio opening match

Bringing in two new players to their lineup, Triumph has stunned Cloud9 in their Road to Rio North America Opener by winning the three map series 2-1. (16-11 on Veritgo, 9-16 on Inferno [Lost] and 16-14 on Train).

Triumph opened Veritgo with a top-notch pistol round on the CT side, which saw Gabe “Spongey” Greiner pick up a swift quad kill, with the North American side led by Alan “Shakezullah” Hardeman squad wasting no time in taking an unassailable lead of 5-1. Cloud9 did respond by winning a plethora of rounds with Ian “motm” Hardy setting up a stellar performance helping them switch sides with the scoreline of 6-9 in favor of Triumph. But upon the switch, the South African-American side deflated moving forward on their defense as Triumph, led by an unstoppable Michael “Grim” Wince who came out to be the spearhead for Triumph with a KD of 25k-15D sealed the map win for his team combining his efforts along with Rahul “Curry” Nemani.

Cloud9 did regain their lost momentum as Inferno got underway , dominating for much of the first half as they won six of the first seven rounds. A late resurgence allowed Triumph to bring themselves within four rounds of their opposition at halftime with the score line of 4-11 favoring Cloud9. On switch, with a pistol round victory, Triumph’s troops got into a bid to reconstruct their dominance but suffered several hiccups. Cloud9 did not concede the lead though, quickly regaining their footing through relentless aggressive plays from Triumph and with Josh “oSee” Ohm Awping, it totally proved to be the cherry on top of the cake as Cloud clinched the map with the score of 16-9.

After squaring the series 1-1, with Cloud9 in a bid to seal the series in their favor, Johnny ‘JT’ Theodosiou and his troops went on to take an amusing 3-0 lead over their NA counterparts but were quickly halted by the combined forces of Curry and Paytyn “Junior” Johnson who secured a trio of rounds. With the rhythm still in the camp of Cloud9, they added more 3 rounds to the board couldn’t close the half on a good note as Shakezullah and his men closed their defense with a score of 9-6 in the first half. Though conceding the pistol round on their defense, Cloud9 seemed to have come back to life as they surprisingly took a 13-11 lead but it turned out to be one of their worst nightmares where Triumph penetrated through the defense of Cloud9 to win their eco round. Running low on cash, jT and his men were forced to observe a double eco round which saw them crash 14-16 to a 6-day old lineup.

CSGO devs respond to leak: Code’s dated back to 2017, No reason to worry

0

Amid the rumours, Valve has eventually stepped in to clear the air. Earlier today, Source code for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 were leaked and published on the internet. Several prominent Twitter handles claimed that the leak could well tamper with your PCs or Steam accounts. However, the developers have disregarded the claims and announced that the current build is absolutely secured.

A couple of hours ago, an ex-employee of Valve’s team got involved himself into a CSGO leak

Valve revealed that the code that was leaked is limited to a version shared with partners in 2017 and claimed that it was not leaked today, but in 2018. There are no reasons to disbelive in present build or remain cautioned until proven otherwise.

However, since the situation has blown out of proportion, the developer suggested to avoid community server and stick to official Valve servers for time being. The developer illustrated that they are further investigating the matter and advised users to report privately to Valve if they find reliable information.

Source Code Leak May Tamper Your Account, Stop Playing CSGO, TF2 Now

There was a major source code leak for CSGO and TF2 earlier tonight. The conversation between VNN Tyler and a Valve employee which was leaked may potentially end CSGO and TF2 as we know it.

However, there might be a much larger threat looming on the horizon.

The source code leak today caused a possibility of RCE exploits in TF2. To put things simply, hackers may gain access to data on your device by just being in the same server as you. Your system can also get vulnerable to malicious codes which may be run on your computer without you even knowing.

Source Code Leak

Popular CSGO personalities and YouTubers have addressed this issue, including WarOwl and Bananagaming. Maxim has also shut his servers down as a safety precaution.

https://twitter.com/BananaGamingCS/status/1253016915280265216?s=19

To be on the safe side, we’d advise our readers to stay away from any source games until Valve comes up and stays something. Source 2 games however, are free from any risks. Some examples of Source 2 games are DotA 2, Underlords, Half-Life:Alyx and Artifact. So you can continue playing Source 2 games without having a risk of malicious codes being injected to your PC.

The Team Fortress 2 subreddit has made an official announcement stating the issue. “It is definitely possible that someone could install a virus on your machine by just being in the same server. Your items and steam profile could also be targeted.”

They also listed precautions to take in the scenario which includes but is not limited to not playing on any server in any source game, even offline and not downloading any leaked files.

HenryG teases 128 tick servers in official CSGO Matchmaking

Valve certainly doesn’t want to lose to Riot in the race for the title of the greatest competitive shooter right now. Other than Riot’s brilliant marketing, VALORANT’s massive surge in popularity was primarily due to the features it brought to the table. From advanced anti-cheat to 128-tick servers, VALORANT promised almost everything CSGO lacked at, making a good number of players switch to Riot’s new title.

Valorant

Valve countered this strategy of Riot by shipping a large number of updates to the game, ranging from map and gun changes to quality of life changes to make the game better. The community seemed to love the constant flow of updates and reciprocated in kind. However, it wasn’t enough. VALORANT’S popularity appeared to know no bounds as the playerbase of the game which hasn’t even been fully released yet, kept on increasing.

HenryG in the official ESL stream today, just before the Vitality vs NiP match, hinted towards what might just be Valve’s ultimate response to Riot, other than Source 2 of course.

In the Twitch clip, HenryG is seen teasing about 128-tick servers across all matchmaking in the next few months. If this happens, it would be a welcome change across the entire community and might just give CSGO the boost it needs to edge past its primary competitor in the genre, VALORANT.

The greater tickrate would not only ensure consistency of the bullets hitting opponents (or teammates), but it’d also help in landing smokes, pulling off some difficult jumps and not to mention bunny-hopping.

3rd party services like ESEA and FaceIt are already having 128-tick servers as a feature. If Valve can provide that in their official matchmaking servers, it’d undoubtedly improve the overall gameplay experience of the playerbase.

Source Code for CSGO, TF2 leaked and published to Internet

Bad news for Counter-Strike and Team Fortress players, because the 2017/18 source codes for both the games have been leaked and published to the internet for anyone to see or download at will.

https://twitter.com/2Eggsss/status/1252943759022702594?s=20

What does this imply?

This can potentially imply the beginning of the end for CSGO as we know it, or at least before Valve releases Source 2 which might have released sometime later this year.

Why is it so bad?

The answer is simple, the source code leak will provide hackers and cheat developers much more information on the engine behind the game, making new cheat developments easier and much more cost effective.

Expect to see more and more cheaters in the upcoming weeks as the cheat devs are very likely to exploit this vulnerability into cheats that will be much harder to detect, and much easier to recreate.

The incident first surfaced on Twitter. Here’s the 3-part tweet posted by @2Eggsss about the situation:

https://twitter.com/2Eggsss/status/1252958342378590208?s=20
https://twitter.com/2Eggsss/status/1252958689914486784?s=20
https://twitter.com/2Eggsss/status/1252958855530717186?s=20

The tweets were soon updated by a reply from Tyler’s side

https://twitter.com/2Eggsss/status/1252966011554484224?s=20
https://twitter.com/2Eggsss/status/1252974384261849088?s=20

This is no small leak, it’s a leak that can potentially disrupt, if not ruin two of the greatest titles in the videogame industry. It’s only a matter of time before the culprit behind the leak comes to light, and chances are he’d be sued for millions.

The incident soon stormed across the internet. From 4chan to hltv to Reddit, posts were made about the code leak and how it might ruin their favourite games. The Reddit thread was soon transformed into a megathread based on the seriousness of the situation.

The only light at the end of the tunnel for CSGO fans right now is the possibility of an immediate Source 2 release, more as damage control rather than an upgrade, which can completely nullify this leak.
