Astralis beat Complexity in ESL One Rio opener

Astralis defeated Complexity to win their opening fixture in a 3 map affair, will play Fnatic on 25th April. (16-3 on Veritgo, 13-16 on Nuke, 16-11 on Train).

The match between Astralis and Complexity started on Veritgo with a decisive A site defense by the Danes, who took the lead from the gate. Starting out on the CT side, Astralis showed why they were the favorites from the start, not giving Complexity a chance since the first gun round from where they did take a marching lead of 7-0. For a large portion of the match, it did look like Astralis won’t be showing any mercy towards the struggling side of Benjamin ‘blameF’ Bremer and his men, but a combined effort from Owen ‘oBo’ Schlatter and William ‘RUSH’ Wierzba did make the Danes concede a round. Nicolai “Device” Reedtzput put in yet another vintage performance and Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander also at times proved to be a key contributor. On switch we saw the Danes securing yet another pistol round on their attack. With Complexity’s troops looking destitute, Astralis picked up the map win after Andreas “xpy9x” Højsleth clutching out the final round with a 3k post plant.

Despite a 4-0 start on the T side of Nuke thanks to device’s post-plant gambles, Astralis didn’t have a great first half in the series against Complexity. Benjamin ‘blameF’ Bremer’s triple in the rifle round set up his team for a strong CT side on their opponent’s map pick. Coming from the switch with a scoreline of 8-7 in the favor of Complexity, the Danish side continued their perfect pistol round record in the series by securing the one on their CT side but were yet cleaned by Complexity in a force buy attempt. Things began to entangle for the Danes as Kristian ‘k0nfig’ Wienecke and his heroics did put coL in the driver’s seat where the latter notched up a mammoth KD of 34K-16D. With both of the teams grappling for control, that’s when insanity began. Nerves took over Astralis’s players, who did let Complexity concede a plethora of rounds to enable them to reach map point. The honors were done by RUSH who wide opened the B site for business with a triple kill and thus helping coL to pick up the map win.

The series finale kicked off on Train, where coL got off to a slow T-side start. A plethora of gun rounds including a quad kill from oBo in the 6th round saw no follow-up, allowing the Danish squad to assume an early lead. While the initial stretch was difficult, domination in the latter stages made for a solid 11-4 lead for Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander and his men. Complexity recreated early dominance in the latter half of the map;  Astralis’s offensive strategies were stopped dead in its tracks by coL’s fired up CT side.  The duo of Benjamin ‘blameF’ Bremer and Kristian ‘k0nfig’ Wienecke did showcase a yet another stellar performance but only to go in vain after gla1ve pulled opened up the A site for business with a valiant 4K to his team back in the driver’s seat.  With Complexity’s back against the ropes and despite its men coming back from a 4-11 deficit, Astralis clinched the map win and won the series 2-1.

Free Fire India Solos 2020 tournament to begin next month

Free Fire India Solos (FFIS) 2020 tournament is set to begin early next month. Garena has partnered with Paytm First Games in order to host the game’s first-ever tournament. The upcoming Free Fire tournament will consist of two legs, Masters and Streamer Showdown. In both cases, the players will be playing in Free Fire’s Battle Cage mode where up to 12 players will battle for BOOYAH in a much smaller area than Classic mode. This will also ensure faster-paced gameplay.

As for the Streamer Showdown, Free Fire will invite 48 leading streamers from across India to compete against each other. In this, the players will need to follow the single-elimination format where the top three will qualify from four groups each, for the finale.

All of the tournament matches will be live-streamed on Garena Free Fire’s official YouTube and Facebook pages. Also, the fans can tune in to Paytm First Games App, Paytm App, and Paytm First Games Esports Youtube Channel to catch all the action

Dota 2 Fan Finds Out How the New Movement Speed Changes Affects Every Hero

Every major tournament in Dota 2 is generally followed by a big patch implementing several key changes to the game. ESL One LA Online too, wasn’t an exception: A new patch for Dota 2 was rolled out on Tuesday which included many hero changes and an XP bonus change. But the most notable change, however, was the adjustment of the movement speeds of items. Every single boot in the game now delivers a flat bonus movement speed instead of a percentage change in ms as earlier. Neutral items like the Spider legs and Woodland striders also deliver flat bonus ms now but items like Yasha and its upgrades now provide a percentage increase in movement speed instead.

All these changes are certainly very confusing at first glance and players might have a tough time deducting how much these changes will affect their favourite hero. Reddit user and Dota 2 fan u/Hoopapotomus has solved the community’s problems by creating a spreadsheet with detailed information on how the movement speed changes will affect each hero.

Studying the spreadsheet it’s apparent that while the comparatively slower heroes like Crystal Maiden will be moving faster with the new boots overall, the majority of heroes, however, will have a slight reduction in their movement speeds as a result of this patch.

What’s also interesting is that Yasha and its upgrades like the Manta style and Kaya/Sange and Yasha now appear to increase the movement speeds of all heroes even further. Patch 7.26a might see more and more move speed reliant cores pick up Yasha for that extra boost in ms. The detailed list of all the changes can be found in the spreadsheet here.

ENCE signs VAC Banned CSGO player to create six-man roster

Stuck through the slump, ENCE eSports is going the Astralis way. Finnish organisation has announced the arrival of Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen, therefore, officially establishing a six-man roster. 18-year-old is a rising star in the Finnish scene with flawless skills and 1.37 rating. Elias has signed a two-year contract with ENCE eSports though he is restricted to play at Valve sponsored majors.

During late 2019, Elias was close to signing with present-day OG, however, the organization went forward with Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski. It was alleged that the organization went on to sign with the latter due to Elias’ association with a VAC banned account which he claims to have sold to his friend. 18-year-old has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Valve over the concerned matter.

ENCE eSports will play all non-major events with Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen whereas Sami “xseveN” Laasanen will be the fifth player for the ESL One: Road to Rio. The organisation further revealed in the press release that Aleksi “allu” Jalli has handed over the reigns of in-game-leader (IGL) to Miikka “suNny” Kemppi.

I’m very happy to be joining ENCE today and can’t wait to get our games started. To be a part of a lineup with so many merited and accomplished players is an honour and I will surely keep on learning new things and improving as a player moving forward. This is a chance I’ve been waiting to get and I’m hoping we can make ENCE fans happy with great results in the future,

Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen

With his addition, the lineup intends to get back to eminence after kicking former IGL Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen in the aftermath of StarLadder Berlin major 2019.

It has been a rocky road in the past few months, which has caused issues with the players mentally and affected their performance. We as an organization have to make steps towards further professionalizing the environment in a multitude of ways. Our results have been very disappointing, so changes needed to happen. Signing Elias to the team was an opportunity we couldn’t pass on and he deserves the chance to showcase his talent to the world,

Niklas Ojalainen, General Manager of ENCE eSports

The revamped lineup of ENCE eSports is:

  • Aleksi “allu” Jalli
  • Jani “Aerial” Jussila
  • Jere “sergej” Salo
  • Miikka “suNny” Kemppi
  • Sami “xseveN” Laasanen (ESL One: Road to Rio)
  • Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen (Non-major events)
  • Slaava “Twista” Räsänen (Coach)

Dota 2 Patch 7.26a Released, Brings Several Key Changes to Gameplay

Majors in Dota 2 are generally followed by a patch fixing heroes and items alike, the ESL LA Online major wasn’t an exception. From the moment VP won the tournament after defeating OG 3-2, fans started demanding an update and especially an update which included the Battle Pass in it. Unfortunately, Icefrog didn’t give us the Battle Pass just yet but he did roll out some changes which tweaked several items, heroes and gameplay mechanics.

One of the biggest changes is probably the XP bonus change for kill streaks which was reduced from 30->100 * Level to 20->90 * Level. This, following the earlier changes in patch 7.26 was probably done to slow down the pace of the game to an extent. This can also potentially change snowballing strats and cores which are reliant on their snowballing potential like Meepo or Broodmother.

The item changes were also massive. Every single boot had their stats changed and in general, every single boot including Spider legs, Force boots and Woodland striders which used to previously provide a percentage increment to movement speed now gives a flat movement speed bonus instead. On the contrary, some items like the Manta style, Drums of endurance, yasha and similar items were changed to give a percentage increment in the movement speed of heroes.

Another notable change is to the Spirit vessel, which now provides AoE debuffs reducing regen, heals and lifesteal in a certain radius of the wielder.

The update also introduced several changes and minor tweaks to heroes. The detailed list of changes as mentioned in the blog post by Valve can be found here.

VALORANT Servers Down Globally for Scheduled Maintenance

0

Through a tweet on Tuesday, Riot announced that they’re planning to temporarily shut down VALORANT servers across Europe and North America.

This is in accordance with the latest patch notes for VALORANT released minutes earlier than this tweet. The patch 0.47+ saw some heavy nerfs to Raze and some minor ones to Sage. It also included several quality of life changes along with some minor map changes and bug fixes. The community welcomed the Raze nerfs as they had been asking for it for a while now.

The servers will be down for almost 6 hours across the EU and NA. For Europe, the servers will be down on April 22 from 3:30 AM CEST to 9 AM CEST. For America, the servers will be down from 4:30 AM PDT to 10 AM PDT. It was quite thoughtful of Riot to make the times of the server shutdowns ranging from midnight to early morning, since the player counts are generally low during those times. The servers are scheduled to be back up by the time people are awake and ready to game.

VALORANT Latest Patch Notes Released, Nerfs Raze and Sage

0

Through a blog post released by Riot earlier today, the devs mentioned how they had grown familiar with the community feedback on Raze ranging from “Raze is fine” to “pls delete now.” The abilities of Raze can be lethal to enemies, which is in contrast to what Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent had said in October 2019, “To be clear, in Project A, shooting matters. You don’t kill with abilities.”

After the closed beta of VALORANT was released on April 7th, the game gained a massive surge in popularity. At the same time, fans and streams started saying in unison about Raze being overpowered and against the game’s ideal of abilities creating “tactical opportunities to take the right shot.” Summit1g had also said earlier that the abilities in VALORANT would “make or break the game.”

Tuesday’s patch notes on VALORANT proved that they had indeed listened to the community. The patch heavily nerfed Raze, not by decreasing her kill potential but by providing her opponents with sufficient visual and audio cues of her abilities. Sage also received a minor nerf – players can now walk through her slow orb without making any noise.

The update also included map changes, QoL improvements and minor fixes. Here’s the detailed list of changes as mentioned in the blog post by Riot:

Gameplay and Balance

MELEE DAMAGE

  • Melee attacks now inflict double the damage per hit to destructibles, including

– Sage’s Barrier

– Haven’s metal double doors

-Why?

There weren’t enough options during low econ rounds—such as the first round and right after switching sides—to combat Sage’s Barrier Orb. Our intent is to add a high-risk, high-reward method for players to interact with her wall, while still being able to take it down, no matter their loadout.

Raze

  • Reduced Paint Shells from 2 to 1
  • Paint Shells now have a kill reset, requiring players to get 2 kills to refresh the cooldown
  • Tuned and adjusted audio for Paint Shells, Blast Pack, and Showstopper so that they’ll be easier to hear in hectic scenarios
  • Fixed an edge case where the secondary cluster of Paint Shells would explode quicker than intended. They now have a minimum duration before exploding.

What’s up with that?

Raze’s goal is to be a highly-threatening duelist that punishes enemies posted in predictable positions, but we felt like the cluster grenades and their number were creating overly oppressive scenarios. Also, players should be supplied proper gameplay information and the audio cues on all of Raze’s abilities didn’t match their threat, so we changed the audio of each. For example, when the Showstopper is equipped or fired from a distance, players should be able to clearly identify and interpret the threat.

SAGE

  • Slow Orb now also slows the airspeed of players in the zone
  • Players can now walk through the Slow Orb without making noise

Map Updates

  • Several exploits fixed on Bind, Haven, and Split
  • Split: Orb moved from B Mid to B Main

The intent is to alleviate some pressure from mid and provide more incentive for players to control B Main.

QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Reduced outbound network traffic from client for players running at high frames-per-second
  • Some ISPs and network setups were throttling game traffic, impacting gameplay by causing large spikes in network latency as FPS increased.

No impact to gameplay / responsiveness

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a rare server crash caused by packets occasionally being corrupted by some players’ networks
  • Cypher’s Spycam can no longer use weapons
  • Fixed a bug where footstep audible range would sometimes not appear on the minimap

After T1, C9 & NiP, TSM anticipates to sign Valorant lineup, content creators

0

Founded in 2009, Team SoloMid (TSM) is regarded as some of the foremost esport organization with rosters among numerous titles – League of Legends, PUBG PC, Fortnite, Apex Legends and Rainbox Six Seige among others. The organisation hasn’t shied away from trying out the latest titles, rather it approaches them despite umpteen uncertainties.

Yet again, US based organization has showcased its will to experiment with Riot Games’ first-person shooter (FPS) Valorant. In other news, TSM recently laid off its PUBG PC and Rocket League rosters.

Earlier today, TSM announced on social media that the organisation is looking forward to establish Valorant professional lineup and is hunting for Valorant content creators as well.

South Korea’ T1 was the foremost organisation to sign former CS:GO pro Braxton “Brax” Pierce and his former teammate Keven “AZK” Larivière to establish its Valorant squad. Soon after the launch of beta version, Ninjas in Pyjamas followed the suit and re-signed their former Paladins squad with minor adjustments to embark upon Valorant.

Last week, North-America’s Cloud9 revealed that former CS:GO player and content creater Tyson “TenZ” Ngo will be their first professional Valorant player. Several other organisations including 100 Thieves are hosting online Valorant showmatches as well.

Fnatic’s PUBG Mobile roster in turbulent airs after heated verbal exchange

0

Fnatic’s PUBG Mobile players have been indulging in public spats and seen taking a dig at each other over team’s performance in customs, tournaments and in scrims. Everything the players had to say can be heard on their public live streams respectively on YouTube.

Tanmay “Sc0utOP” Singh initiated by calling out his teammates, while targeting Mohammed “Owais” Lakhani as he was upset with Owais because Owais refused to play after midnight when majority of scrims and customs matches are played. Sc0ut also expressed his anger and frustration at the team’s coach, Pratik “Aurum” Mehra probable because of the playstyle Sc0utOp has to play for the team which isn’t his natural playstyle. Sc0ut also made remarks about Owais and Aurum’s family.

Owais later came on Livestream and stated that, “He cannot play with someone who verbally abuses his mother, father, or sister.” He also gave an explanation of why he cannot play after midnight. Owais said that he needs to wake up early for his morning prayers; he even mentioned that he had been suffering from stomach pain from several days. He said that he dedicates about 14 hours a day for PUBG which is more than enough for practice sessions. Owais also added that his family wants him to leave competitive gaming and go back to pursue his studies and focus on it.

Franky who signed just a month back with Fnatic, was also with Owais during his livestream and said that his family was urging him to leave Fnatic due to the toxicity in the team. Yesterday, Sc0utOP got into a discord with a random fan and talked to him regarding the situation. Sc0ut said that his teammates can complain to Fnatic management and get him removed from the roster.

Sc0utOp also tried to justify his comments by saying that getting offended by verbal abuses directed towards family shows your low level of maturity. He also added by saying that he used to get offended by such remarks during the times of high school, but at the age of 24 he doesn’t get offended by such abusive remarks at all. He also mentioned that he had personally apologized to all of his teammates.

Later Sc0ut received a call from Nimish “Nemo” Raut, Fnatic’s India lead on which Nemo urged Sc0ut not to discuss the issue in public anymore. The call could be heard on the stream because Sc0ut had put the call on speakerphone. Sc0ut’s behaviour isn’t uncommon as he was benched in the past after he made abusive remarks about a player from another org. who knocked him out in a match on Sanhok map. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Fnatic’s PUBG Mobile roster.
