Why is Roblox Removing The ‘Oof’ Sound Effect?

Last year, VentureBeat had reported that the “Oof” sound effect, which is used as the death sound in Roblox was originally taken from the video game ‘Messiah’ which was developed by Shiny Entertainment and published by Interplay in the year 2000. 

According to the report, Intellivision CEO Tommy Tallarico sent an email to GamesBeat last year claiming the rights to the sound effect and looking for compensation for the last 14 years of Roblox using the sound for itself. A year later, it appears like the two parties have come to an agreement. 

A recent VentureBeat report dated November 10th says that the ‘Oof’ sound effect is set to be temporarily removed from Roblox at the end of November. However, fans won’t be missing the iconic sound for long, as it is expected to return in the Roblox store as a purchasable item for only 100 Robux, which is about $1 USD.

Furthermore, Tallarico has also created four exclusive sound design libraries for the Roblox which will cost developers $10-250, depending on how many sounds are purchased.

Alongside this, Tallarico will be able to sell exclusive “Oof” merchandise in Roblox’s official Amazon store.

“We worked together to find a fair resolution that allows Tommy to become part of the Roblox community,” a Roblox spokesperson said. “As part of our commitment towards UGC content, we will replace the platform’s default ‘game over’ sound effect with a new audio track later this month.”

How to register for the Free Fire Battle Arena Season 2

  • Tap on the tournament tab in the game lobby and click on FFBA S2 banner
  • A new tab will open where extra information regarding the tournament will be given. Click on Squad button to create your own team or join other teams.
  • Clicking on create will lead to a formation of new team.
  • Clicking the join button will send a prompt to your friends and if they accept it, you can join their team.
  • Fill up the required information and once your team is officially created or you join a team successfully, you will recieve eight tickets.

Valorant players are facing issues where the entire lobby is sent back to the lobby screen without any message suggesting an error. Players have encountered this error mid-games but several reports also indicate this occurring at the start.

The much anticipated Pokemon GO Beyond Update released this week came with a rebalanced leveling system from 1 – 40, a level cap increase to 50, Generation VI Pokemon, and brand new seasonal content- Legacy 40 Challenge.

The Legacy 40 challenge is the new seasonal activity that goes live from December 1 at 11:59 pm and will end on December 31st, just before the next year. The Legacy 40 Challenge is a Timed Research questline that is only available for players above level 40 and will allow players to collect the new Gyarados Hat, earn the Legacy 40 Trainer title, and an exclusive Legacy 40 medal.

However, Players below Level 40 would need to reach Level 40 before the end of 2020 in order to get the Legacy 40 Challenge research and compete for rewards.

Legacy 40 Challenge Timed Research Tasks and Rewards

The legacy 40 challenge is divided into 4 stages with each stage rewarding players after completing the respective stage tasks.

Legacy 40 Challenge (1 of 4) – Since this is the first stage the task and rewards are respectively easier to get.

Task- 1. Power up Pokémon 10 times for 1,000 Stardust.

          2. Catch 15 Pokémon for three Star Pieces.

          3. Make 5 Nice Throws for 1,000 XP.

Rewards- 1.  1000 Stardust

                 2.  1000 XP

                 3.  Rufflet encounter

Legacy 40 Challenge (2 of 4)- From this stage onwards the task will start getting somewhat difficult but will also offer very good rewards.

Task- 1. Catch 15 different Pokémon for 1,000 Stardust.

          2. Transfer 10 Pokémon for an Unova Stone.

          3. Use 15 Pinab Berries for 1,000 XP.

Rewards- 1.  1000 Stardust,

                 2.  3 Premium Battle Passes,

Legacy 40 Challenge (3 of 4)- With half of the challenge completed the remaining task from here on after gets harder to complete and will take time.

Task- 1. Make 3 Great Curveballs for 1,000 Stardust.

          3. Give 10 Treats to your Buddy for a Sinnoh Stone.
