Fortnite Down: Epic shuts down servers for Xbox Series X and PS5 update

Epic games have taken down all of the Fortnite servers to get ready for the upcoming XBox Seris X and PS5 update. Developers have officially confirmed that the Fornite servers are closed for all the platforms including PC, PS4, XBox One and Nintendo Switch. The servers are fully taken down from 9AM GMT for at least three hours.

Fortnite announced their entry into newer generations of consoles as a next-gen game. They have promised to amplify the user experience for players on XBox Series X and PS5 with major changes to the current game.

To fully upgrade the game, Epic games has decided to temporarily take down Fortnite fully offline to work on it. In a statement, Epic Games says, “We’re beginning to disable services in preparation for v14.50. If you’re currently in a session, you can continue to play until downtime starts at approx. 4 AM ET (09:00 UTC).”

How long are Fortnite servers shutting down?

As stated above, Fortnite servers can be taken down for at least three hours but the time duration can vary according to the amount of changes. Fortnite is bringing major changes to their console IP and things like 60 FPS support for 4K resolution, Dynamic visuals, faster lobby timers and more are being introduced into the game. The game will also feature 60FPS support to XBox Series S. Looking at the amount of changes being made into the game, it is certain that this is one of the major updates and can take much longer than normal patches.

Fortnite will be back up in a couple of hours and even if it takes longer, remember that the update is only making game better hence be patient and get ready to dominate the servers when the game will be back up.
