Discord messages searchable on Google are coming to Discoverable Servers from mid-December 2026. Discord says useful answers shared in server chats are hard to find on the open web today. Server Web Pages go live for every Discoverable Server on November 16, 2026. Admins can choose which channels take part, and members can stop their own messages from showing. Private servers, DMs, and group DMs are not affected.
This article explains the dates and the opt-out controls.
Discord messages searchable on Google
Discord will let messages from public channels in Discoverable Servers appear on Server Web Pages and in web search. The first messages should show up from mid-December 2026. Discord says the rollout is gradual, so it may take a few weeks before any appear.
Every Discoverable Server will have a Server Web Page from November 16, 2026. Channel Summaries can start on the same day. Channel Messages begin rolling out in mid-December 2026.
Admins and members can already change their settings. Discord started rolling out the controls on October 27, 2026. If an admin changes nothing, public channels stay on.
Usernames and avatars will not be shown next to messages. Messages sent before mid-December 2026 will not appear.
What are Discoverable Servers?
Discoverable Servers are the most public spaces on Discord. Admins list them in Server Discovery, and anyone can join without an invite link. A server needs at least 1,000 members and must be at least 8 weeks old. It also has to meet activity and safety requirements.
Discord says there are more than 63,000 Discoverable Servers today. Most other servers are small and private. Community Servers are for bigger groups, but people still need an invite link to join. The new features only apply to Discoverable Servers.
Server Web Pages and Channel Summaries
A Server Web Page is a public page that describes a Discoverable Server. People use it to decide whether to join. Discord Server Web Pages have been available for some time, but setup takes a few steps. Many servers never made one.
Admins who do not set up a page by November 16, 2026, will get a default page. Discord builds it from the Server Profile, and admins can edit it later. Discord calls the page a core part of being a Discoverable Server. Admins who do not want one can switch back to a Community Server.
Channel Summaries are automated. They show a small slice of what people are discussing and focus on active conversations from November 16, 2026 onward. Admins can change which channels feed them, curate what appears, or turn them off. Summaries do not show usernames or avatars.
How Channel Messages work
From mid-December 2026, answers that members posted in public channels can appear in web search. They show in the members’ own words. Admins decide which channels take part. Members decide whether their own messages appear.
Searchers can click through from a result and open the conversation in Discord. Discord gives examples such as how to unlock an easter egg, new builds, or a boss guide.
Discord has tested Channel Messages with NBA 2K, Rust, and Dead by Daylight. During that pilot, all posts came from admins and moderators, not regular members.
How to opt out of Discord messages appearing on Google
Server admins can go to Server Settings > Web Presence. There they can pick which channels take part or turn all of them off. Admins can also adjust Channel Summaries and Channel Messages before those features roll out.
Members can open User Settings > Data and Privacy. The option is called “Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages.” One switch covers every Discoverable Server a member has joined.
Turning the setting off stops new messages from appearing. Messages sent while it was on stay up unless the member deletes them from Discord. Channels that may show content on the web will be labeled, so members can check before they post.
Channel Summaries work separately. They come from broader channel topics, so they can still appear unless admins turn them off, even when a member opts out.
Regional rules and teen accounts
The member setting for Channel Messages is off by default in the EU, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea. Discord cites legal restrictions. Messages from members there will not appear unless they turn the setting on.
Everywhere else, the setting is on unless members turn it off. Users in the teenage age group are excluded completely. They cannot enable Channel Messages until they are adults.
Why Discord is making this change
Discord says many message boards and forums have moved into Discord servers over the years. That has left useful information locked inside chats that the wider internet cannot reach.
Discord expects fandoms to build channels that answer common new player questions. It expects creators to promote events and content drops more easily. It also expects indie game developers to share updates and wiki-style information in public channels.
