8Bit is stepping away from the competitive PUBG Mobile after a long run since the start of PUBGM esports in the country. The announcement was made by the team owner and co-founder of the organisation, 8bit_thug. 8bit is one of the oldest PUBG Mobile organizations in India and this revelation comes as a shocker for its fans.

8bit made its debut in the competitive PUBG Mobile circuit from the very start. The roster represented India in the first ever PUBG Mobile tournament named PUBG Mobile Star Challenge and has maintained the status of being a prominent top tier team in the country since then.

In their two year journey, many players represented 8bit and moved on to become the veterans in the scene and the roster in itself has seen many remakes and additions till date. The 8bit flag was hoisted by Revenge Esports for a short while and the main roster saw some altercations with old players like Beg4Mercy stepping down and new stars like Akshat and Akshu leading the way for this roster.

The team was in the limelight recently for being one of the most dominating teams in PMCO Wildcard Fall and ended up in third spot to qualify for the PMGC Wildcard qualifiers. The team fell short of some points and could not qualify further but their performance in this tournament was commendable.

From being one of the first teams to represent India on international stage to getting inches close to getting the same opportunity, this long run of 8bit has been a tricky one with many ups and downs and finally, the step down marks the end of an era.

PUBG Mobile lightweight installation function basically reduces the download size of the game by a huge margin and now, the game can be downloaded at an expense of 610MB only. This reduction is very significant as the updates usually hit the 1GB mark, making the game bulkier and bulkier.

MPL incubates $5mn fund for global game developers

Bangalore-based mobile gaming startup Mobile Premier League (MPL) has announced the creation of an incubation fund for game developers globally. The company, which has over 60 million registered gamers has set aside INR 37 crores for the project.

South Asia is a growing market for internet based companies, specifically for gaming & fantasy startups. Mobile Premier League, which was founded in the year 2018 has surged its userbase to an exponential levels. The platform allows game-developers to register and integrate their games and earn a share of profit to the MPL’s monetization program.

MPL has over 60 million registered users.

In a recent Series C funding, the company raised $80mn to facilitate further development of their application and expansion globally. The company had raised $35mn last year.

This year the Indian gaming spectrum has recorded significant growth contributed by the unprecedented global pandemic.

Just last week, Indian gaming startup WinZOO had raised an undisclosed sum from Steve Pagliuca. They also set aside a similar fund to promote the gaming culture in India through game developers. WinZO had a game developer fund of $5 million (approx. ₹37.3 crore) to boost game development in India.

“We are privileged to have partnered with talented game developers from all over the country and are glad that our platform helped them monetize their games. We at MPL recognize the tremendous potential that the Indian game developer ecosystem has and thus, have announced a ₹37-crore fund,” Shubh Malhotra, co-founder, Mobile Premier League, said in a statement, according to Mint.

Setting up a family/sub account on PS5

Before you add a family account to your PS5, make sure you have a main account registered in it.

Once you log in to the primary account on your PS5, go to Settings > Family and Parental Controls.

From there, you can go to Family Management and click on ‘Add Family Member’.

Once done, you’ll be prompted to scan a QR Code on your phone to set up the family account on your PlayStation 5.

After you sign in to your account on your phone, you’ll be given the option to add a child account. Enter the child’s date of birth and then you can proceed to verify your identity as an adult. You will then be charged 50 cents which get added to your digital wallet.

Family Account features

As an adult creating the child account, you get access to the following features:

PUBG Mobile India will be altered such that the game will fits perfectly in the set of regulations and provides everything that is needed for the Indian audience.

These changes are potentially introduced to make the game slightly different than the global version and overcome the roadblocks that PUBG Mobile has been facing in the past.

After landing the shots on enemies, the colour of blood will no longer be reddish and it will be replaced with a green tint. Fully clothed characters

When the players start their journey in the global version, they have an option to keep their character half naked but this option is entirely removed from the game for India. Players will no longer be able to undress their character and the game will start with fully clothed models. Users can jump between the available costumes but cannot fully remove their garments.

Time restriction for underage

To curb the problem of video game addiction and promote healthy gaming habits, PUBG Corp. is adding a time restriction on the underage users. This will be different than the normal time-cap because earlier, the prompt used to tell the players to take a break but this time, the game access will be plausibly denied after a certain time limit is reached.

Other

PUBG Corp. has stated that the background will be changed to a virtual simulation ground and since no further details are available, a solid use of this feature is not known. It could be speculated that this change will modify the in-game atmosphere and convert PUBG Mobile in some kind of “simulation game” for the Indian region.

There are some interesting changes that can be employed with this game client. Since the game development will be completely focused for a single region, the in-game outfits, skins and events can get a touch of Indian culture and ethnicity.
