Clash of Clans developer Supercell asked to pay $92.2 million to Gree By Texas Court

0

Finnish mobile game developer Supercell famous for popular mobile games — Clash Of Clan, HayDay, and Clash Royale, was ordered by a federal jury held in Marshall, Texas last Friday to pay $92.2 million in damages to Japanese company Gree.

The federal jury noted Supercell had infringed on multiple patents owned by Gree. They found Supercell had infringed 6 patents and earned $3 billion using those patented features from Gree in their mobile games.

Gree accused that freemium Supercell titles such as Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Hay Day have all incorporated technology protected by the patents. Gree is the founder of “gacha” type games that employ a freemium model with an emphasis on having a lot of “pay to win” features embedded into the game.

While Supercell denied using any of the technology protected by Gree in their games and called the patents invalid. The jury rejected Supercell’s claims and declared the infringement was willful and ordered Supercell to pay three times the amount set out by the verdict.

In a statement released by the company, Supercell said:

Supercell respects the jury system but is of course disappointed in the verdict. Supercell plans to appeal.

This is the second such trial that took place between Supercell and Gree. Last year in September, Gree was awarded $8.5 million for a similar infringement against Supercell for infringing on 5 patents. Similarly, Supercell had denied using the patented technology in any of their games last year.

A third trial is also set between the two firms and is scheduled to take place later this year.

GTA V Exact Locations in Real Life

0

Rockstar Games have always paid immaculate attention to detail in their games in an effort to make their world look as realistic and alive as possible. Divided into multiple areas (Blaine County, Downtown, Vespucci Beach, etc.), Grand Theft Auto V’s Los Santos is almost a faithful recreation of Los Angeles and keen-eyed players have encountered many familiar landmarks in the game as Rockstar’s art team has painstakingly recreated various famous tourist attractions and well-known places for Los Santos in a bid to make the world look believable.

Here’s a look at some other places in GTA V that are influenced by real places:

Vinewood Sign

This giant sign is hard to notice. Located in Vinewood Hills, this location is obviously based on the famous Hollywood Sign.

In both the game and real life, this place is a spot for tourists that can be seen wandering around it, and perhaps it is the most famous landmark in the world.

Los Santos Observatory

Located in Verdant Bluffs. This location is based on Griffith Observatory on the slopes of Mt. Hollywood in L.A. and is next to identical to the real thing with its spacious area, the giant dome, and the overall architectural design. The observatory also overlooks Los Santos’ skyline which is a sight to see.

The Oriental Theatre

Based on the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the place holds a historical significance. Rockstar has managed to replicate the entire theatre in Downtown, Los Santos and both locations have the same Forecourt entrance and color scheme.

The theatre is also featured in one of the missions later in the game and players can revisit the theatre during freeroam to watch a select number of movies.

Del Pierro Pier

Located in Del Pierro, Los Santos, this place shines vividly at night and is perhaps one of the most beautiful locations to visit in the game. The Pier also has its own amusement park called Pleasure Pier, equipped with a Ferris Wheel and a roller coaster, both of which are interactive.

This location is a replica of Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California and looks just as vivid and beautiful as its real life counterpart.

Trevor’s Lab (Liquor Ace)

Players have also managed to find a location that resembles Trevor’s lab in the game. Located in Sandy Shores, Trevor uses a run-down liquor store as his base of operations. The place is featured in multiple story missions as well as in GTA Online.

Its real-life influence is located in the Salton Sea region in Mecca, California, and is an abandoned liquor store called Carniceria Toro Loco. Both places have a giant yellow sign and are equally worn down.

Maze Bank West, Del Pierro Heights & Eclipse Towers

All three of these buildings are prominently featured in GTA Online as two of these (Maze Bank West & Del Pierro Heights) are utilized as Executive Offices for the player’s organization while an apartment in Eclipse Towers can be purchased by players to use as a Safe House.

Maze Bank West was inspired by 401 Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica, California, while Del Pierro Heights was inspired by the Searise Office Tower, also in Santa Monica.

The Eclipse Towers building was inspired by a 31-story residential building called Sierra Towers in Hollywood, California.

These places are almost completely indistinguishable from their real-life counterparts. However, this isn’t the first time a video game has included real-world places, as Marvel’s Spider-Man is well known for recreating an almost true to life New York City and Rockstar’s approach to the same formula isn’t short of impressive either, or is it a new concept for them, since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto 3 & IV were based on Miami and NYC respectively.

Apex Legends Season 10 new Legend Pariah
Pariah – according to leaks from data miners

Apex Legends New Legend – Pariah

Valk’s abilities made her one of the more offensive Legends, hence Respawn might choose to balance things out with a Legend more suitable for support. Leaks had given us a brief idea about Pariah, as it is known to wield scouting abilities. Her abilities include a passive that lets her see opponent’s health, sonar grenades that let them scout areas for enemies, and an ultimate that makes them immune to stuns.

Arenas has been an interesting update from Season 9 that has improvements due and scheduled to come as part of Season 10. A plethora of minor map changes are imminent and a new map might be introduced.

However, the most interesting prospect of Season 10 will be a ranked mode, though exact details aren’t here but the next season will be an ideal time to drop it.

Valkyrae merch launch date

0

Valkyrae has had one hell of a year, an incredibly successful one that any top content creator would be envious of, and finally, the much awaited time has arrived when she launches her merchandise.

Rae had a difficult time transitioning into YouTube as she was unable to hit the ground running but her hard work and dedication made up for it, to the point where she is now called the “Queen of YouTube” by her stans.

The past year was huge, both for her as well as the organization who decided to appreciate everything she has done by offering her a seat at the table.

During a live stream she speculated fresh Valkyrae merchandise to hit the stores by mid August. She will take a page from Corpse Husband’s book and use the same production house to push her merch, which is understandable given how the quality of Corpse’s merch was appreciated by everyone.

Valkyrae Merch Cost:

Dexerto speculated the price as follows:

“Again there’s nothing set in stone regarding the cost of Rae’s merch, but judging by the cost of Corpse’s drop we can speculate that:

  • Hoodies – $60
  • Beanie – $25
  • Face mask – $10

As both streamers are using the same merch carrier, this may imply that Rae’s new drop may mirror Corpse’s prices.”

Rae was super excited to tease her merch which gives us a rough estimate about how she worked on it, hoping it to be a major success, and given her fanbase, there is no doubt that all of it will be sold out in no time.

How to solo boost on ‘Long-door’ boxes in Dust2?

The Dust2 has been one of the most prestigious maps in the history of Counter Strike and can be dated back to some iconic moments from the Majors, leagues, and maybe dozens of tournaments. The map has its own fan base and since its re-work in October 2017, the community were yet again back with more tips and tricks to counter their opponents on the map.

Not so long ago, a Reddit user and CSGO player who goes by u/Sidekrown came up with a spectacular self boost on Dust2, possibly on the boxes inside the A-Long doors.

This boost until now just required maximum 2 players to climb up the boxes. But with this research now public, it’s now possible for a single person to do it all by him/herself.

In the clip, it’s shown that the player uses a line-up by facing to a specific point on the ground and aims to align towards an edge of the other box. Once he makes the first jump, he gets up on the box which is revealed to be some sort of pixel on which he holds, and later on, successfully climbs upon the long-door box in Dust2.

This self boost on Dust2 can help one manipulate a plethora of strategies and fool their opposition in pushing the avenue only to fall into this “set-up” trap. As mentioned above, till now, it was a two-man job but now that it can be done by a single person, this trick can be a game-changer but. We still speculate this pixel as whether it’s a glitch that has been unnoticed by the Game developers or has intentionally been placed and craved attention over all these years.

Now that it has surfaced over the social media, we still wait for the CSGO players from across the community to test it out.

CSGO Servers Are Down Right Now 10 May 2021

On May 10th, CSGO players across the Globe reported outages of the game servers. It’s still unclear what caused the outage, but it could be due to a number of reasons.

The first and common cause of server outages is a new update. When a new update is shipped to the game, the servers can go down for a short while. However, in case of an update, the servers can be up quite quickly.

Another reason behind server outages may be a technical fault in Valve’s servers. This is very unlikely to happen but has happened on more than one occasion in the past.

In case you’re finding yourself unable to launch CSGO or join a game, you can check for yourself if CSGO servers are down.

Shroud wants Riot to delete the Judge in Valorant

Celebrity Twitch streamer Shroud found himself in a heated moment involving the controversial Valorant shotgun “Judge”; asking Riot to “delete” it upon getting killed from a single hit.

Arguably the most annoying lethal weapon in the game, the Judge is one shot one kill gun up close and for good reason. The gun fires 12 bullets in a single shot which is enough to take down a player in close proximity no matter what their health and armor conditions are.

Like any shotgun, it suffers at long ranges, often dealing little to no damage making it one of the major drawbacks of the Judge in particular. Besides its range, the fire rate is slow which often makes it a “one and done” gun in several instances.

All these drawbacks aren’t enough to convince the community that still has mixed feelings about it. While some despise it, there are many who can make it work, especially on a tight budget.

“F**king judges! Delete them from the game!” raged Shroud. “Literally, Riot, click the button. Delete. That’s it. Just get rid of them. Just get rid of them. It’s that simple!” he yelled and for good reason. After carefully establishing a post-plant situation, Shroud was hit by a jumping Reyna with a Judge, and his 100HP along with 50 Armor went in vain.

Accuracy of other guns that can “one shot” at any range suffers from standard movement let alone jumping and that is where mechanical skills like jiggle bursts, counter strafing comes into play but apparently the Judge doesn’t care about them, thanks to its ability to fire 12 rounds at a time.

Krafton asks YouTubers to stop referring Battlegrounds Mobile as PUBG Mobile in fear of getting banned

Krafton has reportedly asked the content creators to stop calling their latest title by the name of PUBG Mobile in fears of getting blocked by the Indian government once again. According to a report by IGN India, a Whatsapp message was allegedly sent by Krafton to content creators which asked them to stop referring to their new game Battlegrounds Mobile India as PUBG Mobile.

PUBG Mobile has faced lots of blockages by the IT Ministry of India in the past. This game was banned in the country on the concerns over user privacy and data security. Krafton, the PUBG creators, tried their best to evade this situation but the ban was never lifted.

Krafton made a comeback in India by the announcement of PUBG Mobile India around the auspicious festival of Diwali but the hype created by this announcement did not last very long as a release date or timeline for this new game was never revealed. They promised to develop a completely new version of PUBG Mobile but could never deliver it.

The developers are back in the market after announcing a new game called Battlegrounds Mobile India. This game is just a rebranded version of PUBG Mobile yet it looks like the developers are trying to avoid refer it to PUBG Mobile in any way.

As per the reports, a Whatsapp message asked the content creators to stop using PUBG Mobile as an alternative name for ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India’. A part of this message reads as follows:

“We would also suggest to not use PUBGM in your content anymore as it was banned and we don’t want to be banned again. We would recommend using worlds like Battlegrounds Mobile India, Korean game, Indian version in your content.”

The authenticity of this message is unverified as the officials have not explicitly shared this information. If it turns out to be true, Krafton might be trying to evade yet another roadblock in the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India.
