Gillette’s Clean Entry Into Pro Valorant in India through VCC

Indian Esports market is growing and its exposure has led to multiple mainstream brands venturing in this new industry. One of the leading grooming brand, Gillette, made its clean entry into Indian esports by partnering with Nodwin to host Valorant Conquerors Championship (VCC).

Valorant has emerged as a new favourite in FPS genre in India, overtaking CS:GO in the competitive scene. Owing to the immense popularity of this title, Riot Games hosted its first ever official tournament for the South Asian region with winner securing a final spot in APAC LCQ on the road to VCT.

Nodwin Gaming hosted VCC for the South Asian region and this tournament was heavily dominated by Indian teams from the playoff stages itself. Multiple big brands collaborated with Nodwin to host this tournament and Gillette was one of them.

Gillette is a decade-old American brand of safety razors and other personal care products. This entry by Gillette is a huge step in Indian esports to bring it to the mainstream audience by sponsoring huge events like VCC.

Gillette is actively participating in the gaming industry as a whole by sponsoring multiple esports personalities and content creators like Ghatak and Scout. The brand has also sponsored ‘Charcha with Thugwa‘, a famous interview series by S8UL co-owner 8Bit Thug.

Valorant Conquerors Championship has been a huge success in the region with Indian teams rising on the top. The grand finals was an interesting best-of-five series between Velocity Gaming and Global Esports.

Global Esports emerged victorious in this clash of Titans and has claimed a spot in APAC Last Chance Qualifiers. They will represent India on the global stage for the first time and stand a chance to qualify for Valorant Champions Tour 2021.

Fortnite “Operation: Sky Fire” event announced, Check complete details

Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 7 is into its final phase. To keep the players excited into the end of the season, Fortnite has announced a final event called “Operation: Sky Fire”. The event will take place at 4 PM ET on 12th September. The players need to join a strike team and sneak aboard the Mothership to deliver IO’s final message to the invading Aliens.

The Operation: Sky Fire event playlist will be available 30 minutes prior to start for players to jump in, which will reserve their spot in the mission. The players need to log in early and standby for go time. You can join the event with a full lobby of 16 friends. Thus, bringing more friends will help you tackle Slone’s secret mission.

The game will not provide replays for the event for content creators and players looking to relive the moments of Operation: Sky Fire. So it’s up to them on how to record and archive your experience to share with everyone.

MISSION READY CHECKLIST

Fortnite also gives the players an option to earn rewards from the battle pass. Just complete any remaining Epic Quests and exchange your Battle Stars for the rewards you desire before Operation: Sky Fire begins. Any remaining Alien Artifacts should similarly be collected and exchanged for your favorite Kymera styles and options.

Besides this, any unclaimed Battle Stars or Alien Artifacts by the players will be automatically redeemed for rewards at the end of Chapter 2 Season 7 along with styles starting with the earliest available unlocks.

Superman’s Quests will also need to be completed before September 12 at 4 PM ET if the players want to unlock Superman’s special Glider, Pickaxe, and Shadow style. Quests outside of the Battle Pass like those for LeBron James or Vox Hunter will carry over into the next season.

Mohit “mw1” Wakle has been in limelight since the moment he joined Velocity Gaming. At that moment, he was signed only for the Valorant Conquerors Championship but his performance has left the fans and the team in awe of the youngster.

In an exclusive interview, VLT CEO Manoj “Sentinel” Kashyap expressed how he believes that the addition of Agneya “Marzil” Koushik and Mohit “mw1” Wakle to their Valorant roster has propelled the expectations of the team and delivered the desired results.

After the loss of Velocity Gaming in the Grand Finals, mw1 will be going back to the completion of his college degree and won’t likely be seen playing with the team in the coming months. 

Although, Sentinel recently announced in a live stream that mw1 has requested to register him in all the upcoming tournaments as a 6th player. This means that we might be seeing some aggressive Jett plays in the coming months.

On the other hand, rumors are still going on the arrival of DeathMaker to Velocity Gaming. It will be quite interesting to see the changes in the roster of Velocity Gaming in the coming months.

ESL Pro League playoff matchups decided

The group stage for the 14th Season of ESL Pro League concluded, with Ninjas in Pyjamas grabbing the last possible spot from Group D after their win versus Gambit. ESL also announced the matchups for the first round of playoffs, which would include the 2nd and 3rd placed teams from each group.

In the new format that ESL introduced for this season, the group winners automatically secure a quarterfinals spot. Therefore, Heroic, OG esports, Natus Vincere, and Gambit have already booked themselves in the round of 8 and wait as their adversaries battle it out in the round of 16.

Ninjas In Pyjamas were almost down and out after the loss versus FURIA but came back fighting as they defeated Gambit in the final game, a feat that no one thought they could pull off. Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz brought his A-game to send his team through to the playoffs ahead of FURIA to set up a date with Mouseports, the winner goes on to play OG in the next round.

Playing with a stand-in after ‘k0nfig’s injury, Complexity Gaming too shocked viewers as they made playoffs ahead of G2, and will face Team Vitality in the round of 16. Substitutes forZe, who were brought in for Renegades will play ENCE and the winners go on to face NAVI in the quarters.

Team Liquid are the only team keeping the NA hopes alive and will look to make this run a deep one as they face a reinvigorated Fnatic, to meet Heroic. Heroic have had a flawless run in Pro League till now but their problems are mostly out of the server than in it, with TeSeS being accused of helping HUNDEN cheat. The woes for OG are similar as niko claimed to know about the bug too, but didn’t come forward to clarify anything.

This season of Pro League has been filled with upsets and redemption arcs and promises to be even spicier as we reach the business end of the event. Playoffs start from Tuesday, 7th September at 19:30 IST when NiP faces Mouseports.

TeSeS and niko in hot water as HUNDEN releases new evidence in Coach bug scandal

The website at the helm of all the investigation and new evidence regarding HUNDEN and his coach bug abuse, TV2.dk, have released another report, this time implicating the involvement of the two Danish players, who were a part of the Heroic roster in 2020.

Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen, who has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately, has added another twist to the whole coaching bug scandal which shook the CSGO scene in 2020. This time, the Danish coach released excerpts from server logs that show a conversation between HUNDEN and Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen, where niko claims to be aware of the bug and that HUNDEN was indeed using it.

Niko said “Everyone on our team knew it. Maybe not the first time.But after. Everyone knew that.” This completely contradicts the statement made by the coach when he was first held liable for his actions in 2020, where he claimed that only he knew about the bug and the players were unaware of his wrongdoing.

The next part of the evidence is where it gets more interesting. Evidence shows that Rene “TeSeS” Madsen INTENTIONALLY disconnected and connected multiple times to help HUNDEN get into a bugged position so that he could cheat.

This new evidence was investigated by a Professional CSGO referee, who also stated that HUNDEN was right about his claims. Furthermore, Michal “michau” Slowinski, who reviewed most of the demos when the community was first made aware of the bug, tweeted asking Tournament Organisers to save server logs along with the demos, which only cements these claims by HUNDEN.

As of now, everyone is waiting on the official stand of the ESIC regarding these new claims. While niko and TeSeS both look to be in hot water, TeSeS more than niko, because he deliberately helped HUNDEN cheat. The Heroic organization too is under a lot of scrutinies because of their unsportsmanlike behavior regarding this whole ordeal. Time will tell what punishment will be agreed upon, if any, for the players and the org.

REZ Extends contract with NIP for another 4 years

Fredrik “REZ” Sterner, who has been with the Ninjas for more than 4 years now, has extended his contract with the Swedish org again. The extension would see him as a part of the organization until 2025, and at just 23 years old, the world is the canvas for the aim star.

Joining NiP when he was just 17 years old, REZ has shown immense improvement over the years and has only gone from strength to strength. He debuted when CSGO and CS 1.6 Legends Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund were still part of the team, and REZ credits them too for the turn his career has taken.

With this new deal, REZ will be part of NiP till 2025. Currently, he’s the oldest standing member of the roster, spending 4 years with them and counting while the second oldest member of the squad is Nicolas ‘Plopski’ Gonzalez Zamora, who has spent 2 years on the roster.

With the signing of the Tom Cruise of CSGO, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, NiP have found their own dynamic duo to take over the reins from “f0rest” and “GeT_RiGhT”, and that has reflected in their performances on the server. Both of them have been beacons of hope for them as the roster undergoes transition with the addition of a new fifth.

In the announcement of the contract extension, REZ said “Now I’m the one bringing wisdom, while I click heads better than ever before. Damn it feels good to be a Ninja.” when asked about how things are different now, compared to when he joined. The COO of NiP too shed light on this, “Fredrik is about to enter the prime time of his career, and I’m thrilled that he’s trusted us with another four years,” he said in a statement.

NiP will continue with the following roster for the time being, lest they miss out on any RMR points:

Juventus star helps O PLANO find new home

The Brazilians that have been without an org since the start of the year have finally found someone to support them.

O PLANO, a Brazilian mix team of sorts was tried by legendary org MIBR for a month before they decided to not continue with them and signed the roster of BOOM esports, with Ricardo “boltz” Prass being the most famed individual after his stint with Luminosity and SK Gaming.

O PLANO was the name the players had given themselves after announcing in May 2021 that they were looking for an org. Currently, at #43 in the world, they have been competing in tier 2 tournaments since then with decent results.

They have been signed by 00Nation, an org that is brand new to CSGO and has merged with Nordavind, a household name in tier 2 CS. It also includes Arthur Melo, Juventus, and Brazil footballer as an investor and Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens as investors. This isn’t the first instance of footballers taking an interest in CSGO, with Real Madrid player Casemiro already owning his own CSGO team, Case esports and PSG record-breaker Neymar Jr. playing with his friends from FURIA and even knifing world #1 ZywOo in the process.

The Head of Esports for ZeroZero nation, Bruno Santos stated “We look forward to continue building on the foundation established by the players and to be a part their journey towards the top, and in doing so develop a winning sports culture that allows them to reach their full potential while simultaneously allowing them to express themselves as entertainers and to keep telling their story.”

This also opens more avenues for Vinicius “vsm” Moreira, who couldn’t participate in majors, before Valve’s new ruling in April 2021, which stated that players with VAC Bans that were older than 5 years would be eligible to play in Valve sponsored Majors.

O PLANO will be looking to make their mark as 00Nation as soon as possible. And with Nordic Masters Fall coming up, this could be their shot at playing in BLAST Premier Fall Showdown and compete with the big leagues for the first time in a while.

Alan Wake Remastered might be coming this October

It seems Remedy’s 2010 horror-thriller, Alan Wake might be getting a remaster real soon as pre-order listings for PS4, PS5, and Xbox (Series & One) versions of the game were spotted on Rakuten Taiwan, an online retailer. 

The remaster was previously leaked when listings for Alan Wake Remastered and Final Fantasy VII Remake were found in the Epic Games Store backend, heavily hinting towards a PC version for both these titles.

Remedy acquired Alan Wake’s publishing rights from Microsoft in 2019, and it’s clear that the studio is preparing for the titular protagonist’s return as Control’s second expansion, AWE featured Alan Wake himself, clearly setting up a sequel that recently entered full production not too long ago.  

It would be interesting to see what changes Remedy brings to the table as the remaster could greatly benefit from modern technology, i.e – raytraced lighting, reflections, and shadows as Alan Wake’s atmosphere and lore depended on light and dark quite literally.

SkRossi’s Stellar Performance In Valorant Conquerors Championship

Unsurprisingly enough, Global Esports star Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar has righteously earned the title of MVP in the recently concluded Valorant Conquerors Championship 2021.

Following a series of stellar performances in both the group stages and the playoffs from SkRossi, many had expected the 22-year-old to be named as the MVP of the tournament, and they weren’t disappointed. 

The former CSGO pro repeatedly led his team to victories in VCC 2021 while showcasing some incredible performances coming from his Jett. Across the tournament, SkRossi managed to score nearly 200 kills on his Jett and rarely left any room for mistakes.

Having faced a defeat at the hands of Velocity Gaming in the earlier stages of the playoffs, Global Esports had dropped to the lower bracket. However, they retaliated, and they retaliated hard as they went undefeated across three series and attained victory over Velocity Gaming at the Grand Finals in a BO5 with a scoreline of 3-2 in favor of Global Esports. 

Global Esports’ incredible victory at the VCC will enable them to battle it out against other teams across Asia in the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers for a slot at the prestigious Valorant Champions 2021.
