Brazil to host IEM: Winter CSGO in 2023

ESL organized IEM : Winter is en route back to Brazil in 2023.

IEM Rio CSGO Major

ESL announced that they will organize another IEM event in Brazil in 2023 after Brazil vs. Sweden legends show-match. On the Intel Grand Slam season four calendar, IEM Spring is scheduled for late April 2023.

The tournament will feature 16 teams instead of the 24 that compete in a Major, with a prize pool of $250,000. However, of greater significance is the fact that the IEM Spring event that will be held in Brazil will be counted as an Intel Grand Slam season event.

The Intel Grand Slam champion is the team that wins four events at Intel Grand Slam competitions, as in previous seasons.

“It’s exciting to be looking forward to over 40+ tournaments around the globe, serving all tiers of the CS:GO competitive pyramid – from aspiring to professional. While we’ve planned out these tournaments, our work is not done, as we look to improve and continuously work on putting on amazing experiences for all of our global community.”

Shaun Clark, Senior Director of Game Ecosystems – CS:GO at ESL

After today’s IEM Rio Major, ESL announced that the Intel Extreme Masters Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament will return to Brazil in 2023.

IEM Brazil 2023 will be part of the 2023 ESL Pro Tour for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The tour is one of the top CS:GO circuits and includes prestigious competitions in well-known cities like Cologne, Germany, and Katowice, Poland.

There has been no announcement regarding the event’s location within Brazil, and the dates have yet to be set. The ESL Pro Tour schedule has just two spaces for an S-tier event: one in the spring from April 17–23 and one in the fall from October 16–22. Given the Brazilian Major’s timing, the fall slot seems more likely.

According to the Intel Grand Slam schedule, Brazil’s IEM Spring event begins on April 17.
