In a blockbuster move, FaZe Clan has shaken the CS2 world by pulling Oleksandr ‘s1mple‘ Kostyliev out of his career break to replace Helvijs ‘broky’ Sauskants as the AWPer of the star-studded lineup.
While it was clear that FaZe would be looking towards a new AWPer to replace an out-of-form broky, no one could have predicted that it would be the GOAT of CS:GO that they would look towards in an attempt to get the roster back to its winning ways. This move comes right in time to give the roster enough room to integrate the star-man into their team ahead of the Austin Major.
Given broky’s freedom in the FaZe system, s1mple will have enough room to do his thing, making his integration process smoother on the off chance that they would have gotten a system AWPer over a star player. While his recent loan spells were nothing to write home about, he remains one of the greatest players to touch the game, which will put others on high alert when facing him on the server.
This move will see s1mple get reunited with EliGE, someone with whom he shared his formative years of CS:GO in Team Liquid. EliGE, rain, and frozeN will be the formidable supporting cast around s1mple, led by karrigan, arguably one of the best IGLs who is known to make rosters work with limited time.
FaZe Clan’s roster now looks like this:
- Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev (loan)
- Finn “karrigan” Andersen
- David “frozen” Čerňanský
- Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski
- Håvard “rain” Nygaard
- Filip “NEO” Kubski (coach)
- Helvijs “broky” Saukants (benched)
FaZe Clan’s decision to skip PGL Astana gives them enough time to get in some practice with the Ukrainian star man. The team is expected to debut in IEM Dallas later this month, but it goes without saying that this roster has got their eyes on the Austin Major.
