Fortnite Introduces Hanumankind’s Big Dawgs Emote

Indian hip-hop has reached a new milestone globally, with Hanumankind’s song “Big Dawgs” making waves in Fortnite. Its iconic dance is now being featured as an emote in Fortnite, which is a classic blend of Indian music and international gaming culture.

Hanumankind’s real name is Sooraj Cherukat, and he was born in Kerala and grew up in Houston, Texas. He infuses his music with a mix of Southern U.S. hip-hop and Indian musical traditions. Currently living in Bengaluru, he has played an important role in expanding the scope of Indian hip-hop. His single “Big Dawgs” by Kalmi, released under Universal Music India, reflects this blending, with raw beats matched with culturally enriching imagery.

The “Big Dawgs” music video, which was filmed in the “Well of Death” in Ponnani, Kerala—a classic Indian carnival spectacle in which stunt drivers defy gravity with their driving skills—was directed by Bijoy Shetty. This environment not only serves to create a striking visual setting but also to typify Hanumankind’s music as something adventurous and risk-taking.

The song has attracted a lot of global attention, with over 116 million views on YouTube and over 400 million streams on Spotify. It entered the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 57 and reached number 23, which is a huge feat for an Indian hip-hop artist.

The addition of the “Big Dawgs” emote in Fortnite signifies more than a new player feature; it denotes the expanding worldwide acceptance of Indian hip-hop. With Fortnite’s huge global player base, Hanumankind’s music and cultural form are becoming accessible to new crowds, further consolidating the role of Indian artists in worldwide entertainment circles.
