KRAFTON Chairman Byung Gyu Chang met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on September 4, reaffirming the company’s long-term commitment to India’s gaming, technology, and digital entertainment ecosystem. The meeting also comes with a major announcement, as KRAFTON plans to invest an additional $250 million in India over the next three to four years.
The discussion highlighted the growing partnership between India and South Korea, with both countries looking to strengthen innovation, gaming, and emerging technologies. KRAFTON said its vision aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s “Create in India, Create for India, Create for the World” initiative by helping Indian developers build games for a global audience. Krafton PM Modi Meeting: KRAFTON’s total planned investment reaches $500 million
KRAFTON has already invested $250 million in India since entering the market. With the newly announced investment, the company’s total planned investment in the country will reach approximately $500 million.
Alongside gaming, KRAFTON also plans to expand its focus into:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Robotics
- Deep-tech startups
- Homegrown gaming IP
- Indian gaming startups
The company has also established a $670 million venture growth fund to support future investments across India.
Focus on Indian talent and game development
Speaking after the meeting, Byung Gyu Chang said India has exceptional talent in gaming and technology, and KRAFTON remains confident in the country’s digital future. He added that the company wants to work closely with Indian creators, developers, and entrepreneurs to build globally relevant products and experiences.
Talent development has become a major part of KRAFTON’s India strategy. The company recently launched KIGI Academy, an industry-academia initiative designed to train students in game development and digital creation.
KRAFTON has also strengthened its presence by acquiring Nautilus Mobile, the Pune-based studio behind the popular Real Cricket franchise. The acquisition supports the company’s goal of creating more Indian-made intellectual property while helping local studios grow.
With fresh investments, education initiatives, and support for startups, KRAFTON says it wants to play a long-term role in making India one of the world’s leading hubs for gaming and digital innovation.
