GTA 6 has not even launched yet, and it is already closing in on the opening-day haul of its predecessor. According to Sensor Tower’s latest estimates, Grand Theft Auto VI had sold about 7.71 million digital pre-orders on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S by November 3, generating roughly $751 million in revenue.
Those figures are net of returns, which means cancelled pre-orders and refunds have already been taken out. They also only cover digital console purchases, so physical copies reserved at retailers are not included at all. Neither Rockstar Games nor parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed the numbers, which come from Sensor Tower’s weekly GTA VI sales tracker.
PS5 owners account for three in every four GTA 6 pre-orders
PlayStation continues to dominate the platform split by a wide margin. Sensor Tower puts PS5 at about 5.74 million pre-orders and $559 million, while Xbox Series X|S accounts for roughly 1.97 million copies and $192 million, leaving the platform mix at 74% to 26%.
That gap has barely moved since the summer. Sensor Tower’s first public snapshot, which covered the opening weeks up to July 20, had PlayStation at about 3.15 million copies against roughly 0.93 million on Xbox, a similar ratio of roughly three to one.

The pace has picked up as launch gets closer, too. When we reported Sensor Tower’s previous update on October 20, the tracker stood at about $630 million and 6.45 million copies, which means roughly 1.26 million extra pre-orders and $121 million arrived in just two weeks.
Dividing the revenue by the number of copies also gives an average of around $97 per pre-order. That sits much closer to the $99.99 Ultimate Edition than to the $79.99 Standard Edition. A large share of early buyers appear to be paying for the premium version, although regional pricing also affects the average.

GTA 6 is already catching GTA 5’s record launch
For context, GTA 5 made around $800 million on its first day in September 2013 and passed $1 billion within three days. In unit terms, Sensor Tower says it sold 11 million copies on launch day and 16 million in its first week. That leaves GTA 6 only about $50 million short of that opening-day figure before a single copy has unlocked, although the comparison does not account for inflation or GTA 6’s higher price.
The unit count already beats the roughly 7 million pre-orders Sensor Tower attributes to GTA 5, and it is close to the 8 million that CD Projekt Red reported for Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020. It also comfortably clears the 6.5 million pre-orders that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 recorded in 2011. The long tail matters just as much, since GTA 5 has gone on to sell more than 230 million copies since 2013.
Pre-orders opened on June 25, and momentum has held up ever since, helped by Rockstar’s Extended Look in August, a heavy marketing push and the approach of the pre-load window.
Sensor Tower’s ad data also shows where Rockstar has put its money. In the US, TikTok accounted for about 45% of the publisher’s digital ad spend in the early weeks of the campaign, ahead of Instagram at 22% and Facebook at 20%. Since then, Rockstar has also moved into live sport with ads during El Clásico.
GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, with no PC version announced, and pre-loading opens on November 10. Sensor Tower will publish two more weekly updates before then, and every estimate so far is collected in our guide to how many GTA 6 pre-orders have been sold.
