In the European Contingent, fellow Danes Astralis and North have booked the top slots, while the remaining two spots were filled by Mousesports and NiP, in a dramatic finale that saw the German Org, who were tied on points with FaZe before the match, win both the best of 1 matches to secure 3rd place, and also help NiP who won 1 and lost the other against Fnatic which was ultimately enough for them to secure a spot.

Stewie2K named in Forbes 30 under 30 for Gaming

1

The 20-year-old prodigy is the only player from CSGO to be included in the list, alongside big names like Team Liquidโ€™s Yiliang โ€œDoubleliftโ€ Peng (League of Legends) and Lauren โ€œGoddessโ€ Williams (Rainbow Six: Siege).

The 30 under 30 list is a recognition by Forbes for the biggest and most influential personalities in their respective fields who are under 30.

https://twitter.com/mibr/status/1062448828949815296

Stewie is widely regarded as one of the best players in North America, despite having only played CS:GO since the summer of 2014.

On January 11th, 2016, Stewie joined C9 amidst much criticism from fans and analysts alike, for being an unproven and inexperienced talent, but quickly became one of the best players of C9 and then NA. 2 years later in January 2018, he helped his team win the first ever Major for a North American team.

His move to MIBR in June 2018 saw a slow start with mixed results, with ZOTAC Cup Masters being the only tournament win, but things have gradually improved as the team looks more consistent.

Incidentally, his teammate Gabriel โ€œFalleNโ€ Toledo was the recipient of the award last year, for his massive contribution in the advancement of the Brazilian CSGO scene, apart from his own individual success.

CSGO Battle Royale mode may arrive soon

2

According to rumours being floated on Twitter, it is possible that the widely popular format of Battle Royale may soon make its way to the popular FPS game.

A twitter user @Nors3, who tweets regularly about counter strike updates, shared a screenshot of the developers playing on a map called โ€˜mg_xl_enclaveโ€™ which, according to a Reddit user is: โ€œin the official survival map pool, according to the cvar โ€˜ui_playsettings_maps_official_survivalโ€™.โ€

It is possible that a survival mode could be added in the next operation, which is long overdue since the last Operation, Hydra, was over last year itself. Many games are jumping on the bandwagon of the success of Battle Royale, with Call of Duty Black Ops 4 being the latest game to feature it.

It is very unclear at this stage what the game mode could really be because according to @Nors3, he โ€œdoubts Source can handle a proper +30 BR mode,โ€ although other users argue that it can handle upwards of 60 people easily.

This is not the first time that a survival or BR mode has ever been mentioned with regards to CSGO, however, as the rumours have been flying around ever since ConVars with “survival” prefix in the name was added to the game files in the May 31, 2016 update, while in an October update, the map named Island was added to the game files with a survival prefix.

While all these could mean nothing as has been in the past 2 years and Valve could either dismiss this idea or go in a completely different direction, nonetheless it is fun to speculate and discuss the direction which Valve chooses to take.
