xQc: Washed up CS:GO Pros might not like Valorant

0

Overwatch streamer Fรฉlix “xQc” Lengyel seems to be adamant upon the fact about the washed-up Pro Players from the CS:GO community might find it difficult to adapt while playing Valorant.

Earlier in this week, Riot games did honour itโ€™s Project A with the name โ€œValorantโ€ This upcoming title is a First Person Shooter which does share its weapon structure creativity with Valveโ€™s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. But this game not only focuses on just shooting with a weapon but also adapts some mechanics where the likes of the same can be found in some famous titles like Overwatch and Apex Legends.ย  Just like the mentioned games, Valorant would make us witness some extra gameplay mechanics where each and every player might have to cast itโ€™s ultimate ability to give his team an edge over the opposition.

Coming to the point where some CS:GO Pros have already taken up the initiative to go pro in Valorant, famous Overwatch streamerย Fรฉlix “xQc” Lengyel did share his opinion about the hardships that the CS:GO professionals would face. Counter-Strike: Global offensive till now has been a liner game where a team of 5 Terrorists would have to capture a site and plant their bomb against a team of five Counter-Terrorists who would be playing on their frontier to defend the bombsites. But with the Launch of Valorant on the horizon, this kind of gameplay will be getting spiced up much more than what we see in CS:GO as players will then have to use some of their extra abilities like the ones in Overwatch and Apex Legends do. This might also require an entirely new strategy built up for perfect team compositions where the communications between the players would play an integral role. But according to xQc, with these new competencies and specific changes, CS:GO pros might go through some afflictions on their way to transition into Valorantโ€™s Pro scene where they might not like the game or would have to climb up the ladder to successfully adapt. One of the notable examples would be the case of Braxton โ€œSwagโ€ Pierce who recently stepped down from the pro scene of CS:GO who is now looking forward to going pro in Valorant once it gets unleashed by Riot Games.

US Navy partners with Evil Geniuses to conduct tryouts for its CSGO team

Militaries across the world are heading towards esports for advertising and outreach. Its quite understandable considering the fact that esport attracts a large chunk of millennials and teenagers. And the same onlookers are the target audience for military organisations obviously for hiring resolve. In the recent past, US Navy have signed an Overwatch and a Call of Duty lineup as well to facilitate their outreach. They had also collaborated with American esport organisation compLexity earlier this year.

Evil Geniuses, another US-based esport organisation will host tryouts for Counter-Strike players to aboard the Navy roster. The detailed information regarding the format and schedule is yet to be unveiled. However, Navy’s CS: GO team will premier at TwitchCon later this year. Further, Navy will also sponsor BYOC at DreamHack Dallas in May 2020. US Navy’s another novel yet strategic partnership is with live streaming giant Twitch. The latter shall produce a mini web series highlighting resemblances between gamers and sailors.

In 2017, Danish organisation Astralis prompted Danish forces to target esport enthusiasts citing the similarities amongst gamers and armed officers. As the Danish military worked upon enhancing their footprints within the gaming industry, the organisation received twice the applications. US Navy also announced that it would move a larger chunk of its advertising budget from cable television towards streaming platforms like YouTube and Twitch. Other than millennial brands, even militaries consider gaming and esport as a model medium to advertise & promote.

Rainbow Six Siege is already facing Stream Snipping problems

0

Ubisoft’s tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege just hit 55 million players mark right before the launch of Operation Void Edge. Since its launch in 2015, the game has grown significantly and has shown a constant uptick in playersโ€™ numbers.

Last year was one of the best for Rainbow Six Siege. The game had regular content updates which also included various Quality of Life changes and fixed various long-standing friendly fire issues. The game developers also took significant measures to keep cheaters and toxicity at bay for better player experience.

While everybody appreciates the efforts of the developer, some argue the game still lacks some basic features that will help the game even more. One such feature is a โ€œStreamer Modeโ€.

Many streamers feel the heat of stream sniping, a method used by opponents to use the โ€œStreamersโ€ live stream to gather vital information and target their specific locations only. As the game lacks even a basic stream mode, anyone streaming the game will stream a real-time feed that the cheaters or harassers can access anytime and regularly ruin broadcasts.

Other Popular games like Apex Legends and Fortnite, already have a mode called Stream Mode where the names of players are hidden or anonymous. This makes it near impossible for cheaters to exploit and ensure nobody gets an unfair advantage.

Professional Rainbow Six Siege player of team G2 Esports, Niclas “Pengu” Mouritzen said:

“I am unable to enjoy the game in a fair 5v5 environment. Every time big streamers try out our game they get nothing but cheesed by snipers.”

Pengu currently has 630,000 followers on Twitch and regular streams competitive matchmaking games. Another streamer, Macie Jay with over 745,000 followers also said:

“This whole game revolves around information, stream sniping ruins the most core aspect of this game. Can’t overstate how bad it hurts streamers in Siege; it’s like playing poker and everyone seeing your hand.”

BikiniBodhi, a Rainbow Six Siege YouTuber with over 1.3 million subscribers said:

“This is so much bigger than people think, our community loses out on so much free promotion from big streamers that don’t want to touch Siege because of how easy it is to snipe.”

While the common player won’t feel the heat of stream sniping and would rather argue Ubisoft from investing time in such features and utilize the time to develop better content. But, as the game continues to grow, its presence on the streaming platform also increases. As such some “big” streamers might pick up the game to stream, but would leave soon because of harassment faced.

Neo, Pasha, Kioshima among others switching to Valorant

It has already been a couple of days since the announcement of Valorant and there seems to be lot of buzz around it already.

The system requirements, the free to play & micro-transactions economics, and the battle from the future is already eccentric. And mind you, this has not been limited to the casual crowd. Former CS:GO professionals, legends, have already made their announcements.

Europe’s CSGO pros have made their intentions clear on moving to the Riot Games’ new FPS project Valorant.

And this is before the game has officially been launched, which is insane!

Twitch streamer Carl Riemer, known for streaming Call Of Duty and player of team SoaR Gaming, has had his Twitch account suspended indefinitely after the incident of him firing a live handgun while on stream went viral.

While talking to his viewer, Carl was pretending to threaten someone with a gun saying โ€œ B***h say I ainโ€™t got moneyโ€ then pulling back the top slide of handgun once and said, โ€œsay got moneyโ€.

Beliving the gun was unloaded and empty he pulled the slide once more and fired on a cup on his desk. Although to his surprise the gun was loaded and the bullet ended up busting through the cup on his desk, ricocheting and breaking his monitor.

After the incident came to light, Twitch acted and suspended his account permanently. Later SoaR Gaming announced that Carl will be removed from the active roster immediately.

Carl after sometime uploaded an apology video on YouTube and saying that he is sorry and that he โ€œdeserves every bit of backlashโ€. He also explained that while streaming he was intoxicated and believed the gun to be unloaded and fired it. Later he went on to say that guns are not toys and shouldnโ€™t be used to toy around.

โ€œI was clearly intoxicated but the fact of the matter is whether sober or intoxicated, guns are not a toy. Even if Iโ€™ve had the gun for two years, you can still do something stupid like that.โ€

Itโ€™s unclear if Twitch will be un-banning him anytime soon even after the apology video and if thatโ€™s the case Carl would start streaming on YouTube.

TwitchCon Amsterdam Event cancelled amid fear of Coronavirus spread

1

Today Twitch via their official TwitchCon Twitter account announced the cancellation of the TwitchCon Amsterdam which was slated to start on May 2nd and conclude on 3rd May. After debating and analyzing the concerns and risk it was decided to cancel the event rather than postponing it.

Twitch in a lengthy Twitter statement said:

We have been monitoring Coronavirus concerns and having weighed the potential health risks to our community weโ€™ve made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel TwitchCon Amsterdam. TwitchCon is the best weekend to be a Twitch fan. To say weโ€™re disappointed you wonโ€™t be able to enjoy the show weโ€™ve been building for you is a massive understatement. But the health and safety of our community, employees, and everyone else who has a part in making TwitchCon happen is, as always, our top priority.

Later after the announcement, Twitch fans werenโ€™t happy and were concerned about the tickets and hotel bookings that were made in advance through Twitch. The company further announced that it would provide a full refund to the ticket holders and also refund hotel booking if booked through Twitchโ€™s block free of charge.

Even though the event still had 2 monthsโ€™ time for preparations, Twitch decided it was for better to clear the plans way before rather than keeping their fans uncertain for 2 months.

$500,000 ONE Esports Jakarta Invitational is set for November 2020

It’s going to be a big year of fans for the Southeast Asian Dota region as One Esports is finally back with a firm word on the One Esports Dota 2 Jakarta Invitational in collaboration with PGL.

Originally, bound to happen mid-April, the event is now pushed back to November 23-29.

Although having the same prize pool as of next season’s Major, there won’t be any DPC points up for grabs for this particular tournament.

Probably the first third party event to be held after TI0 and happening weeks before the next major.
In fact, it will be an attractive option for all the teams who have qualified for majors, they could use this tournament to hone their skills before going to the major considering there’s still plenty of incentive as well.

Ten teams in all will receive a direct invite to the event, while two more to join the stack surely going to be from the SEA region via dedicated Southeast Asian qualifiers held for teams from the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

ONE Esports has rapidly grown considering the organization is not even a year old yet, this event will be the third Dota 2 tournament hosted this year and fourth they have held in 12 months.

Stuttering still affects CS:GO even after 2 patches, Valve yet to respond to the community

Recent Stutters in CS:GO has really made the community go haywire with Valve yet to come up with a Fix despite tweets regarding the same from the Pro Scene.

The latest patch update of Counter Strike : Global Offensive which was pushed in the game on 25th of February might have fixed various flaws in the User Interface but in the due course it did worsen the FPS settings in the game. Also there have been numerous cases about the micro stutters which are being faced by the player-base as reported where the playerโ€™s game freezes for a pygmy period of time. This Bug appears out of nowhere and it doesnโ€™t have a static timestamp. Though these micro stutters stay for like a millisecond, they do start annoying one if they show up on a recurring basis.

With ESL Pro League Season 11 on the Horizon, Valve hasnโ€™t yet responded to any of these reported cases. Even players from the Pro Scene have addressed about the same on their twitter.

Valve did bring in an update on 4th of this month but it didnโ€™t really seem to focus on this issue as the update did bring in the Operation Shattered Webโ€™s latest and final mission set along with some issues resolved for the Map Vertigo.

Garena postpones Free Fire Champions Cup 2020 due to coronavirus

3

Garena had laid down a supreme plan for this year’s esports circuit for their flagship Battle Royale behemoth, Free Fire. Although, via a Facebook post, Garena has released an official statement postponing Free Fire Champions Cup 2020 which was scheduled to take place on April 19 in Jakarta.

This dangerous virus has penetrated almost every corner of the world and various sectors have been severely affected including esports. On March 2nd, 2 cases of Coronavirus were confirmed in Indonesia and as per a pattern observed globally, it would be foolish to say that the spread of this situation would be contained easily. Amidst this scare, Garena decided to postpone the event instead of directly canceling it.

Through their official release, they made it clear that the safety of the attendees, as well as participants, are their top priority right now.

Keeping to our commitment of prioritizing the well-being of our athletes, fans and staff, it is not feasible to bring them from around the world together for the event.

The altered dates have not yet been decided although Garena has made it clear that they will proceed when this adversity passes by and as of now have no plans to completely strike out the event. The Indian finals for Free Fire India Championship will go ahead as planned on 28th March but will now be a closed-gate event with no audience similar to IEM Katowice 2020.
