Unlike CSGO, Valorant won’t have any Character skins

1

This week Riot Games finally revealed their upcoming free-2-play competitive FPS game, Valorant. With the reveal of the game Riot also shared various information about the game and how the alpha version is progressing towards soon-to-release Public Beta.

Valorant is the companyโ€™s first FPS game and also a shift from the regular MOBA genre for which Riot Games is best known for. According to gameplay videos, Valorant will be a mix between CS:GO and Overwatch but will lean more towards Counter-Strike style of gameplay.

With the game being so similar to CS:GO and Overwatch you might also ask โ€Are there any skins in the game or lootboxes?โ€

Well for once the development team at Riot Games confirmed that the game will only launch with the weapon skins, i.e. Cosmetics that will change the looks guns. According to devs, there wonโ€™t be any pay-2-win element in the game and no skin will change stats or provide an unfair advantage.

Also, there will be no character skins in the game, nor are there any specific plans to add them. Although the development team said that theyโ€™re a possibility in the future, but for now, the microtransactions only include gun skins.

Valorant will be Free To Play

Riot Game’s ambitious Project A: Valorant, much like their own League of Legends Valve’s Counter Strike: Global Offensive will be Free To Play.

The developers will offer in-game micro-transactions to customize the ‘looks’ of the game which will not be effecting the gameplay. CS:GO players will resemble some of the features of Valorant as it’ll also feature graffiti stickers, weapon skins and character skins.

These cosmetics can be bought through from the in-game store or won through battle-passes and missions, much like CSGO.

Valorant already looks much successful in terms of grabbing the attention of the FPS community by releasing system requirements which could run even on a decade old PC, swiftly.

Recently, Ubisoft also revealed their interest in making Rainbow Six Siege free to play, which encourages and appeals to the mass gamers to try their game.

Unlike CSGO, No Loot boxes for Valorant players

Riot Game’s new FPS game Valorant to not have Loot boxes, the developer has confirmed. The news comes in after the game was being compared to Valve’s CS:GO.

Counter Strike Global Offensive, Valve’s most successful and world’s best FPS game makes most of its money through Loot boxes and skins in game. Except, Riot Games, who have confirmed in an interview to Polygon about a different setup.

The game will however, have, micro-transactions, skins and sprays which in some way or the other, resembles the CS:GO mode of operations.

โ€œI think [character skins] would have to be in a way that thereโ€™s absolutely nothing to impact the gameplay, itโ€™ll be narrow. I think thereโ€™s a way to do that. And those are things that weโ€™re interested in exploringโ€ speaking to Polygon, Valorant‘s executive producer Anna Donlon said.

We are awaiting complete details of this agreement via an official post by either Entity Gaming or Team Solo Mid
