Amouranth may quit her “hot tub” streams following Twitch demonetization

When Twitch said they were “closely monitoring” the “hot tub” meta, no one expected their verdict to come unannounced, least of all in this fashion. Arguably, the biggest hot tub streamer Amouranth, had her channel demonetized that left others in a bit of turmoil.

Twitch never confirmed that the demonetization was a penalty for her suggestive content but it’s not too difficult to assume. They were in hot water ever since people started abusing the ToS to turn hot tub stream into something of a meta. The Amazon-owned streaming platform claimed that they were closing monitoring the situation and it is not until now that concrete action has been taken against any of the streamers.

For someone of Amouranth’s stature, ad revenue racks up to a large amount, losing which may be significantly damaging. Suspending advertisements on her channel will close a big income avenue for her that Twitch assumed will probably demotivate other streamers into following the “hot tub” meta.

“Time to finish what we started: LAST HOT TUB STREAM,” tweed Amouranth, with two pictures, one where she’s in a swimsuit followed by her Star Wars cosplay. Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the LAST HOT TUB STREAM had a connection too obvious to ignore.

$500,000 a year is a hefty sum and giving up “hot tub” streams for it would make sense, even with her extended sources of income. Amouranth may have gotten in touch with Twitch support behind the scenes that influenced such a decision, but nothing can be confirmed unless the streamer shares more specifics.

Krafton Inc. is ready to launch their new battle-royale title named Battlegrounds Mobile India in the country after a hiatus of about nine months. This game is set to replace all the other versions of PUBG Mobile that are currently active in India and one of them, PUBG Mobile Korea, is seen advertising this new game.

PUBG Mobile KR is the Korean version of PUBG Mobile which is specially designed for Korea and Japan. This game replaces the global version of PUBG Mobile because certain changes are made in it to better align with the local rules and regulations. The same steps are being followed in India as well, but the entire game is publicized as a new entity.

Battlegrounds Mobile India is basically PUBG Mobile India with a different identity and it has already begun its pre-registration process. An advertisement was recently spotted in the in-game events section of PUBG Mobile KR where Battlegrounds Mobile India was highlighted.

When PUBG Mobile was banned in India, most of the Indian players made a big switch by abandoning their accounts on the global version and switching to PUBG Mobile KR. Most of the PUBG Mobile players in India currently play on the Korean version and to alert them about the pre-registration process, an event board was added in that game.

This event board informs players about the pre-registration rewards. Alongside the Recon set, two other rewards are spotted which means that players will get a title and 300 AG for enrolling themselves. PUBG Mobile KR also took some big steps to keep the game localized to its designated region.

PUBG Mobile KR has already announced that Indian players will not be able to access the game from 30 June and hence, it can be deduced that Battlegrounds Mobile India might be launched before that deadline.

Riot Games announce League of Legends: Wild Rift Origin Series

Riot Games has announced an International tournament for their new mobile title League of Legends: Wild Rift. This event is called as Wild Rift Origin Series and will be the very first official tournament hosted by Riot Games on the global stage. Teams from Europe, MENA and CIS can qualify to win the lion’s share of €300,000 prize pool.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is the portable version of Riot Games’ flagship title League of Legends. This game has been making strides in mobile gaming community before it is even fully launched. It is currently under open beta stages but almost the entire world has access to it except a few countries.

WILD RIFT ORIGIN SERIES INFORMATION

Wild Rift has gained immense popularity within the mobile gaming industry and Riot Games is planning to tap into the abundant ecosystem of mobile esports with the launch of this new tournament. The first Wild Rift tournament called Icon Series was held few months ago in the SEA region but Origin Series is their first international event.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Origin Series will follow double elimination best-of-three match format for their initial monthly qualifier stages. A total of eight groups will be made and top two teams from each group will advance to monthly finals. The double elimination format ensures higher amount of matches for every team.

The top two teams from each group will fight in the monthly finals. A total of 16 teams from eight brackets will be seen in this stage. At the end of each monthly finals, prize money will be distributed according to the placement but each team will be fighting for a long term goal. Placement in monthly finals will decide which team will move to offline finals of this tournament.

This is the first official Wild Rift tournament to have an offline finale. Teams from various regions will compete in these finals to claim the bragging rights and big chunk of the prize pool.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Players from the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Turkey and CIS region can participate in this multistage tournament. The registration process is open-for-all and first monthly qualifiers will begin from 5th June. Multiple monthly qualifiers are expected to follow soon but currently, only the details about first qualifiers have been declared. Players from more than 50 countries are eligible to participate in this event so make sure to visit the registration section to know your eligibility.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

Simply follow these steps to participate in the Wild Rift Origin Series:

  • Click here to visit the registration page.
  • Click on Login/ Register and fill the form. Create a team.
  • Invite your teammates and ask them to register as well. Players can join the team via an invitation code.
  • After completing the process, you will be enlisted in the tournament.

Ninong Ering requests PM Modi to ban Battlegrounds Mobile India

Ninong Ering; Former MP, Arunachal East Constituency and current MLA of Pasighat West, Arunachal Pradesh has presented an official letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging the connections of Krafton with Tencent and China.

He has requested the Prime Minister of India to ban Battlegrounds Mobile India on the grounds that it is a “big threat to the security of India & privacy of our citizens and a way to circumvent & disregard our laws.”

Battlegrounds Mobile India is the new battle-royale title announced by Krafton in India and it started with reforming the social media front of PUBG Mobile India to Battlegrounds Mobile India. Some of the posts made by its social media handle confirms that the game is quite similar to Krafton’s flagship title, PUBG Mobile.

Ninong Ering tweeted about the “Chinese deception” caused by the announcement of Battlegrounds Mobile India and attached a three-page later to address several issues which link Battlegrounds Mobile India and Krafton to PUBG Mobile and Tencent.

He stated that multiple companies connected to PUBG, including Krafton, Tencent and PUBG India Pvt. Ltd. are trying to sidestep Indian laws and deceive Indian citizens and government by relaunching the game with a new name.

He added that this is a “mere illusion and a trick to launch same game with minor modifications to collect user data of millions of our citizens and transfer it to foreign companies and Chinese government.”

The inclusion of PUBG Mobile in the package URL of Battlegrounds Mobile India was also addressed in this letter.

Nodwin Gaming was also mentioned where it was stated that Nodwin will host PUBG servers and Krafton has recently invested in Nodwin Gaming, which works “very closely” with Tencent.

Concerns regarding the privacy policy of this new title were raised as well. These facts were brought together to conclude that Krafton and Nodwin Gaming are connected to Tencent.

The conclusion drawn from this letter is that according to the former MP, Battlegrounds Mobile India is just a renamed version of PUBG Mobile and minor tweaks are made to evade the ban-hammer.

Mr. Ering urged PM Modi to restrict the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India in the country based on all the factors mentioned above.

One of the founders of the “hot tub” meta Kaitlyn Siragusa aka Amouranth has warned “hot tub” streamers across Twitch that their ability to earn off advertisements may get suspended as hers did.

Twitch was in hot water ever since people started abusing the ToS to turn hot tub stream into something of a meta. The Amazon-owned streaming platform claimed that they were closing monitoring the situation and it is not until now that concrete action has been taken against any of the streamers.

The first streamer to suffer was Amouranth, arguably the biggest abuser of the grey area and a big name for Twitch to penalize in a way that doesn’t take the users off their platform. A pragmatically executed move to demotivate anyone from streaming similar content through cutting off a major part of their revenue stream.

Despite a huge cut in her revenue stream, her net worth is can keep her going for the rest of the decade. Amouranth’s ad revenue played a major part in her growing net worth and there’s no way around it. The demonetization will presumably take away half a million dollars from her yearly earnings but her sources of income aren’t limited to ad revenue.

Jonathan Lyndale Kirk aka DaBaby is an American rapper. Famous for his song “Rockstar” ft. Roddy Ricch has become one of the top artists in the rap industry in recent years. He is the sixth most streamed artist and the most-streamed rap artist on Spotify.

Recently, Twitch had banned a channel named after the artist DaBaby. The channel generally used to troll many top streamers like Pokimane, Hasan, and Ninja while posing as the rap artist DaBaby. 

It is believed that the real DaBaby doesn’t own or run the channel and someone used his name to create the channel to troll famous personalities. In the process of trolling, the channel somehow got itself verified by Twitch and had a tick mark on its profile. 

On May 19, Twitch banned the DaBaby channel. Although in typical Twitch fashion nobody knows why the channel was banned, we can only speculate that someone from the Twitch staff was alerted about the fake DaBaby account going around trolling others on the platform and being a headache. 

While the real DaBaby or Twitch hasn’t commented on the matter yet. The biggest question most streamers and community members are asking is how a fake profile could get the verified tick. If the account was indeed fake then why did Twitch wait for so long to ban the account? We might never get answers to these questions.

Esports Awards 2021 date and location officially announced

Esports Awards has officially announced the date and location for the upcoming Esports Awards 2021 ceremony. The Esports Awards 2021 are going back to the traditional live show format, unlike 2020’s virtual format.

The annual award ceremony dedicated to showcasing top-class performance and innovation from the players, teams, media, hardware providers, games, events, and personalities within the esports scene returns with a live audience from Esports Stadium Arlington, Texas on November 20, 2021.

Like every year, those interested can nominate themselves for different award categories before the closing date. Once all categories have nominees, the public voting phase will start. During the public voting, we the gaming public will have the chance to vote on who we think deserves to win the award category and the person/party with the most votes will be awarded. 

The exact dates for when the voting goes live are not known yet, but it should start after the last talent category is decided, and end just days before the show itself on November 20. So if you want to see your favorite streamer, host, company, etc then don’t forget to cast your votes.
