Sentinels buy TenZ in a million dollar deal from Cloud9

Last week has been phenomenal for Sentinels. Sans dropping a map, the North American squad triumphed at Valorant Championship Tour 2021: Stage 2 Masters in Reykjavik, Iceland. Besides winning $200,000, Sentinels are also the first team to secure their berth for Valorant Championship 2021 which will be held at the tail end of the year.

The addition of Tyson “TenZ” Ngo categorically has been one of the reasons behind their recent success. Amid the suspension of Jay “sinatraa” Won for six months for non-cooperation into an investigation initiated due to several allegations levelled by his former girlfriend, Sentinels loaned TenZ from Cloud9 in March 2021.

The 20-years-old lad has been performing consistently since his arrival and the statistics speak for themselves. The loan contract also had a purchase clause and according to a report by The Esports Observer, Sentinels has acquired the service of TenZ in a “seven-figure” deal. This means that his buyout price was anything more than a million dollars.

There were speculations that the deal had been under process for quite some time and the organizations had come to an agreement before the Reykjavik event. “Hey to give some context this deal was done before Iceland,” wrote  Cloud9’s CEO Jack Etienne on Reddit. 

“It was a dangerous deal for us as we knew we would soon face Sentinals in the Iceland Qualifiers, however it was important to Tyson to play and I wanted to make it happen for him. Best of luck to Tyson on Sentinels,” he further added.

Since the addition of TenZ, Sentinels have won NA Stage 1 – Masters, NA Stage 2 – Challengers 2, NA Stage 2 – Challengers Finals and finally the Reykjavik Stage 2 Masters.

Among Us Playerbase Rises to 2 Million After Epic Games Store Giveaway

Epic’s Mega Sale 2021 just entered week 2 of the sale and with that Among Us was the 2nd mystery game of the sale. 

Among Us was last year’s biggest indie game with more than 500K active users playing the game throughout the last year. Among Us was released in 2018 and only had a meager 2K active player base, but with the pandemic-induced lockdown through the globe, the game suddenly saw a rise in its player numbers.

Famous streamers and YouTubers also helped the game to gain more popularity. The game even won the “Indie Game Of The Year” award at The Game Awards 2020. The game’s fairly cheap price (sub $5 or free), easy-to-learn mechanics, crossplay availability, and casual fun experience helped in bolstering the player base. 

Now with the Epic Store offering the game for free during their ongoing Mega Sale 2021 has helped InnerSloth in expanding the game player base from 500K to 2M in just 2 days.

Victoria Tran, Community Director of Among Us tweeted about the milestone. She posted a graph on Twitter displaying the sudden surge in players of the Among Us PC version right after the game was offered for free on Epic Games Store.

She also mentioned other factors that were contributing to the surge such as long weekends or players testing out the game on other platforms. While the graphs only show the number of active PC players, most of the spike in the player base was no doubt caused by Epic’s giveaway and other factors only amounted to a minor rise. 

“Since Among Us is free on EGS until June 7th, I thought it’d be nice to quickly share some player count stats from over the weekend!”

However, Victoria Tran also said that the spike is only temporary and the player base will surely fall down back to the previous levels in the coming weeks. The achievement of reaching 2M+ players on an indie game is exciting and just shows that the game is still very popular and has now become a big part of the modern gaming culture.

PMPL Arabia 2021 Week 3 Day 2: Match Recap, Standings, Results

The final day of week 3 PMPL Arabia 2021 league day ended with Falcons Esport finishing at the top position in the leaderboards.

The team got a total of 116 points including the 54 kills. Besides this, the team took the highest number of position points among all the teams. RTG Esports secured the second spot with 115 points followed by GUNZ Esport with 86 points.

SUDOR Esports, who are sitting at the second spot in PMPL Arabia League Standings could not qualify for this week’s Super Weekend stage. The team only managed to get a total of 27 points with 20 kills.

PMPL Arabia 2021 Season 1: Week 3 Day 2 Match Wise Summary

MATCH 1

The first match of day 2 league day was played on Erangel. The first circle was formed on the northwest side of the map with a 40% water circle in it. RA’AD was the first team to get eliminated from the game. GUNZ Esport completely dominated the match with 11 kills and got the first chicken dinner of the day. It was a decent game for The Snipers as they finished at 2nd position in the standings with 17 points.

MATCH 2

RTG Esports emerged as the winners of match 2 which was played in Sanhok. The team got a total of 25 points including 10 kill points. SCYTES finished at second position with 25 points followed by RA’AD with 5 kills. Though Galaxy Racers finished at the 7th spot in the game, the team climbed up to the 5th position in the standings due to high kills (7). 

MATCH 3

SCYTES yet again displayed dominating performance in match 3 of day 2 league day. The squad took the chicken dinner with 9 kills followed by RTG Esports with 12 kills. RA’AD couldn’t do much in this match and was the first team to get eliminated at 15th position in the game. Fanatic Zombies finished at the number 3 spot in the standings with 16 points.

MATCH 4

As this was the last match of the day for group A teams. Each team was trying hard to get their spot for the week 3 super weekend stage. Galaxy Racer was the first team to get eliminated with 0 kills. Falcons Esports won the chicken dinner with 8 kills followed by Alpha Legends with 12 kills. Fate Esports managed to finish at number three spot in the standings with 19 points. 

MATCH 5

The last match of the week 2 league stage was played in Sanhok between the groups B,C,D,E. The first circle in the game was formed on the northern side of the map. Real Tiger9 was the first team to get eliminated in the 16th position with 0 kills. Rico Infinity Team got their first chicken dinner of the day with 12 kills. Hotline Esports secured the second spot on the leaderboard with a total of 18 points.

At Computex 2021, Nvidia showcased the upcoming brand new GPUs–the 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti. Alongside the launch of the GPUs, Nvidia also announced multiple games that will use RTX technologies, including Rainbow Six Siege, Red Dead Redemption 2, Doom Eternal, No Man’s Sky, and more.

One of the game on the list, Rainbow Six Siege already received NVIDIA’s Reflex technology back in March, which allowed players with the RTX series to play at a lower latency than other players. Now, Rainbow Six Siege is also getting support for DLSS 2.1, another RTX Tech that will significantly improve the in-game FPS performance at no loss in quality. 

DLSS 2.1 is a groundbreaking AI rendering technology that increases graphics performance using dedicated Tensor Core AI processors found only on GeForce RTX GPUs. DLSS uses the power of a deep learning neural network to boost frame rates by rendering the game at a lower resolution and then using AI to scale it to the preferred resolution. The DLSS 2.1 has come a long way and now the loss in quality is negligible, but the boost in performance is massive. 

Alongside R6S, the award-winning Rockstar title Red Dead Redemption 2, DOOM Eternal, Icarus, LEGO Builder’s Journey, DYING: 1983, The Ascent, and The Persistence will all be getting DLSS support soon. 

Nvidia also announced Reflex tech support for new titles, such as Escape from Tarkov War Thunder, Naraka Bladepoint, and CrossFire HD. 

Further details about when these updates arrive will be shared by Nvidia and the game developer at a later date.

Antidote Joins GodLike Esports Valorant Team

Sabyasachi ‘antidote’ Bose has been unveiled as the new player for Godlike Esports. He is the addition to the team as a 6th player. The ex-player of Velocity Esports (previously Team Mahi) entered into Valorant Esports on 27th July 2020.

Since then, the squad has dominated the complete Indian Valorant esports ecosystem. The former Team Mahi, consisting of Amaterasu, Rite2ace, Vibhor, Hellff, Antidote, Excali had an undefeatable run for more than 5 consecutive events.

After dominating the Indian Valorant esports for more than 8 long months, Antidote announced its departure from the team on 16th May 2021. Now, he is back with new teammates and is ready to rule over other teams. 

Today, Godlike Esports announced the addition of Antidote into their team through the official Instagram post. They wrote, ” GodLike eSports is going through a major makeover. And here we present our latest crown jewel ? @officialantidotecs #dilsegodlike”

Recently, Nodwin Gaming and Riot Games announced the launch of the VALORANT Conquerors Championship a qualifying tournament for the South Asian players. The teams would qualify for the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers as part of the 2021 VALORANT Champions Tour.

Before leaving Team Mahi, Antidote revealed the wish to change his role and become IGL for his team. With the VCC 2021 coming closer, we can soon see him leading his team towards victory and qualify for the Valorant Champions Tour 2021. Coldzera benched from FaZe Clan’s CSGO Lineup

Marcelo “Coldzera” David has been benched from FaZe Clan’s CSGO lineup and is reportedly set to be replaced by former player Olof “Olofmeister” Kajbjer.

For a player as decorated as Coldzera, the slump in the past few tournaments under the FaZe banner was too obvious to ignore. Having joined the organization back in September 2019, Cold was arguably putting up the worst numbers in his unrivalled career, which may or may not have been the reason behind the organization bringing Olofmeister out of retirement to replace him on the roster.

Ever since Nikola “NiKo” Kovac departed to G2 Esports and Finn “karrigan” Anderson brought back on the wheel, Coldzera was a shadow of his former self. The Danish IGL in an interview with HLTV made it clear that he will not shy away from making major changes to the lineup on their journey to the top, and Cold’s head is the first to the chopping block.

The pandemic situation gave little time to NiKo’s FaZe on LAN and the online scene was extremely volatile. Despite the hurdles, David managed to earn first place at Blast Pro Copenhagen and IEM New York EU, besides multiple notable top 3 finishes under the FaZe banner.

Replacing him will be another legendary name in Olofmeister who retired months ago only to come back at the hour of need. Olof has been with FaZe during their most dominant period and often finds himself and the receiving end of karrigan’s praises, which explain the organization turning to him for his services.

Their latest roster will likely debut in Blast Premier Spring starting June 15th. If these reports are anything to go by, FaZe will look like:

Adin Ross vs Ludwig drama has escalated to the point where it can not be brushed off as a typical Twitch drama anymore. For everyone out of the loop, here’s a brief insight into what happened between the pair in the interim.

Ross has called out Ludwig for disrespecting his fans along with big names like Sodapoppin and Nmplol. Ludwig ‘Ludwig’ Ahren, Chance ‘Sodapoppin’ Morris, and Nick ‘Nmplol’ Polom took a shot at Ross’s audience during a roast session which the latter did not take kindly at all.

Sodapoppin was the one to kick start the beef stating  “I know who Adin Ross is, but where the f**k did he come from?”. Everything was okay heading up to this point but remarks that followed triggered Ross. Soda mocked his viewer base along with the relationship that he shares with his fans. Nmplol added fuel to the fire, calling his fans “the kids in high school who want to be cool.”.

To nobody’s surprise Ross was furious and lashed out as soon as he got the wind of it, “Don’t disrespect my viewers like that, you guys literally have f*****g hall of fame nerds… in your chat that spam Poggers and Omegalul the entire stream.” he said, before labelling them as “unfunny streamers”. “fat, pimple-faced four-eyed people with social problems”  said Ross about theirs.

According to reports, Ludwing reached out to Adin Ross to squash the beef. “Yo, thought I’d reach out personally,” said Ludwing in his apology. “I don’t want any bad blood between us. Not defend what I said. If it made you feel disrespected, that’s on me.”

Given how everything said was in context to a roast session, the beef may have been unnecessary and something that could have been handled in a mature way instead of airing each other’s dirty laundry. The best outcome as of now will be that either side backs down from pushing any statement regarding the same and end it once and for all.

The recent situation involving popular Valorant pro Tyson “TenZ” Ngo and his contract with Cloud9 has caught the attention of the entire Valorant community. 

For the unaware, TenZ is currently under the contract of the North American organization but has been loaned to Sentinels for a year. Cloud 9 has set a buyout clause of $1,000,000 for the 20-year-old.

Former Cloud9 pro Spencer “Hiko” Martin has recently talked about the existent politics in esports and has claimed that he doesn’t think that TenZ and Cloud9 will be parting ways soon.

“As somebody who has been in Cloud 9 and knows how the esports politic works, if you think that TenZ is getting off of Cloud 9 you are sadly mistaken,”  Hiko said.

This time, it seems like Sean “sgares” Gares has also expressed his opinion on the existing contract between TenZ and Cloud9, saying that the 20-year-old is in a “contract jail.”

“That’s our best player NA stuck in contract jail,” Sean Gares said during a stream. “How is it hilarious at all that he’s stuck in contract jail for signing a 3-year contract when he was a near-minor?”
