Valorant APAC Last Chance Qualifier: All you need to know

0

Teams at the ongoing Masters 3 event of the Valorant Champions Tour are now in contention to secure a significant amount of circuit points across their respective regions in a bid to further qualify for the ultimate Valorant Champions event, to be held later this year in Berlin.

The ones who are unable to qualify for the said Champions event will have to go through a regional Last Chance Qualifier [LCQ] event where they will fend off themselves in a Best of 5 Grand Finale battle to determine their fate further in the VCT circuit. Four Last Chance Qualifier events have been organized by Riot, including the regions, North America [NA], South America [SA], Asia-Pacific [APAC], and lastly Europe, Middle East & African regions [EMEA]

Valorant today on their blog revealed the details towards the APAC Last Chance Qualifier, scheduled to run from October 11-17. The APAC LCQ event will see 10 teams from 5 regions compete for a single spot at Champions. They have also revealed the regional team allocations which are as follows:

  • Southeast Asia [SEA]: 3
  • China [CN]: 2
  • Korea  [KR]: 2
  • Japan [JP]: 2
  • South Asia [SA1]: 1

As being said, slots will be secured upon the basis of the circuit points earned in the respective regions that previously missed out on their chance to qualify for the Champions. The 10-team bracket would see teams from Southeast Asia, Japan, China, and Korea get seeded in the second bracket following the rule that teams from the SEA regions won’t be matched up against each other in Round 1 itself. The latter will have randomized seedings and are yet to be decided.

Teams will engage in a  Best of 3 double elimination bracket from October 11-16 while the Best of 5 Grand Finale series for the lone spot at the Champions will be played on October 17. The APAC Last Chance Qualifier will be an online event amid the current travel restrictions imposed due to the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.

NODWIN Gaming Acquires Gaming IPs And Talents From OML Entertainment For INR 73 Crore

0

Gurugram headquartered NODWIN Gaming, Asia’s leading esports startup and an independent subsidiary of gaming giant Nazara Technologies has acquired the gaming and adjacent IP business of Only Much Louder (OML) Entertainment for INR 73 Crore (~$10 Million). The transaction will provide partial liquidity to OML Entertainment shareholders, including CA Media.

Ajay Nair, MD of OML Entertainment, will join the NODWIN Gaming board as part of the transaction and will work with Akshat Rathee, MD of NODWIN Gaming, and the management team to ensure smooth integration of the OML IPs and help in growing NODWIN Gaming’s business.

The OML Entertainment is known for managing some of India’s biggest gaming & entertainment creators such as Tanmay Bhat, Samay Raina, Suhani Shah, etc. and for owning and executing storied IPs such as the BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender (described by The Guardian as “India’s answer to Glastonbury”), well-attended comedy touring properties such as LOLstars and Headliners and India’s biggest hip-hop league – Breezer Vivid Shuffle. OML Entertainment also works with some of the biggest brands in India to produce well-known properties such as Levi’s Music Week and the hugely successful YouTube FanFest.

This deal will also help in enhancing NODWIN’s esports IPs including Dreamhack, Dew Arena, and India Premiership using IPs that OML has created. NODWIN also claims that post the acquisition of its gaming biz, the company will continue to work on its non-gaming IPs and scale its over-the-top (OTT) offering.

Akshat Rathee, Managing Director, NODWIN Gaming said, “NODWIN Gaming strongly believes that continuous growth in the IP portfolio is central to building a vibrant ecosystem of fans, talent, broadcasters, and brands.

This has been the essence of NODWIN Gaming since the early days of creating The India premiership or Dew Arena. The addition of some of the largest IPs in India like NH7 weekender is going to accelerate the massification of esports and gaming entertainment across the spectrum of fans and brands. The multi-faceted talent that joins us cuts across gaming and pop culture and lays the perfect foundation for NODWIN Gaming to create more IPs.

The proven capability of the brilliant team that joins us from OML Entertainment will further ensure that we can execute and monetize our IPs.”

Ajay Nair, Managing Director, OML Entertainment, added, “We believe in the convergence of different pop culture genres and have seen that this has already happened across several platforms and IPs. It makes a lot of sense to consolidate the strengths that OML Entertainment and NODWIN Gaming have in the live IPs and gaming spaces.

Over the past years, our experience working with NODWIN Gaming has been very fruitful and we are confident that our live IPs and the teams that execute them have found a good home at NODWIN Gaming. OML Entertainment will continue to focus on building its OTT content production, talent management, and branded content businesses. I look forward to working with Akshat and the NODWIN Gaming team to deliver on the true potential of this partnership.”

OML Entertainment clocked an impressive INR 91 crore in total revenue in FY20 (pre-covid) with an EBITDA of ~10%. The startup also claims to have clocked INR 170 crore in total revenue from all its businesses in FY2020 pre-covid times. OML Entertainment will continue to consolidate its non-gaming creator-driven content and talent management businesses as it scales its OTT offerings and branded content marketing suite of services that currently works with over 700 creators across the world.

nak To Stand-in For MIBR, will become the oldest player at an S-tier event

MIBR’s problems have risen at the worst time possible as they will have to use not one but 2 stand-ins for their appearance at BLAST Premier Fall Groups.

Ricardo ‘boltz’ Prass had tested positive for COVID-19 and thus couldn’t travel with the team to Europe. Meanwhile, Marcelo ‘chelo’ Cespedes was involved in a car crash a week ago and is still recovering from his injuries. He will be hoping to be at his 100% as soon as possible, especially with the Major right around the corner.

MIBR will play with strategic coach Renato ‘nak’ Nakano as a stand-in as the two members recover. Breno ‘brnz4n’ Poletto from the academy team of MIBR will also be playing at BLAST Fall Groups hoping to make a name for himself.

‘nak’ is currently 34 years of age, and with his appearance at BLAST Premier Fall Groups he will become the oldest player to play at an S-tier event. The record is currently held by Virtus.pro Legend Wiktor ‘TaZ’ Wojtas who was 33 years old when he played for Aristocracy in late 2019. The others who come close are 32 year old Patrik ‘f0rest’ Lindberg who played at cs_summit 7 and Filip ‘NEO’ Kubski who was also 32 years old at the Starladder Berlin Major 2019, playing for FaZe Clan.

MIBR are in Group B of Fall Groups 2021, alongside G2, NiP, and BIG. Their first game will be against G2 and the next matchup will be determined by the loser/winner of the NiPvs BIG game later on.

‘nak’ last played for South American team DETONA in 2020 and has since then retired to ply his trade as the strategic coach for MIBR.

MIBR will have the following roster for BLAST Premier Fall Group B:

  • Gustavo “yel” Knittel
  • Raphael “exit” Lacerda
  • Bruno “shz” Martinelli
  • Breno “brnz4n” Poletto (stand-in)
  • Renato “nak” Nakano (stand-in)
  • Alessandro “Apoka” Marcucci (coach)

Galaxy Racers bench Owais, Roxx and Ultron from BGMI Roster

Galaxy Racers India has benched Owais, Roxx and Ultron from their BGMI division for multiple reasons including insubordination, breach of contract and many more. The BGMI roster currently comprises of two other players Maxkash, who is inactive due to medical reason, and MJ will be the only active member on the roster for now.

The Indian division of Galaxy Racers handling Battlegrounds Mobile India roster has been in the limelight a couple of months ago due to multiple rumours stating that its roster will be disbanded or players will be released. Galaxy Racers clarified that these claims were in fact rumours and no such actions will be taken.

According to a report by AFKGaming, Galaxy Racers initially suspended a member of their coaching staff for certain undisclosed allegations but did not take a legal route due to lack in substantial evidence. They also issued formal warnings to resolve this matter.

Galaxy Racers has once again taken a big step in their Indian division by benching almost the entire roster. Taking Owais, Roxx and Ultron out of the equation, MJ remains the only active player for GXR and hence, the organization might hire more players under their banner.

The official statement reads as follows:

Owais has represented Soul and Fnatic in the past and is one of the star players from India. He and Maxkash joined the old roster of Team Celtz while this new team was formed. The players mentioned above are still under contract with Galaxy Racers and hence, will not be able to play from any other team until the contract ends.

Battlegrounds Mobile India esports is still yet to official kickstart its competitive season but as the roster has benched most of their players, it is highly possible that Galaxy Racers India will look for other players to play alongside MJ in the upcoming BGMI India Series. They have mentioned that further announcements will be made in due time and hence, these speculations remain unverified for now.

Blue Zone Grenade introduced in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

The v13.2 patch in PlayerUnknown’s Battleground will see players get a chance to create their own Blue Zones, all thanks to the feature of a brand new “Blue Zone Grenade” to be inculcated in the game.

What is a Blue zone in PUBG?

A Blue Zone is basically a Blue circle which shrinks over time in the game, pushing players inward and into a safer territory known as the “White Circle” If you’re caught outside the Blue Zone, you will receive an amount of damage that is significantly stacked if the next iteration of Blue circle further starts to shrink. As said, the White circle is the safest territory in the game as it further allows the player to focus on his duels.

The upcoming patch will see players equip a Blue Zone grenade, just like any other throwable to create a temporary Blue zone surrounding their enemies. This grenade will work exactly like the normal Blue circle, which would deal damage if one is caught inside it.

Popping a Blue Zone grenade would temporarily set up shop for you as it would push your opponents out of the hiding and peek you if in a closed combat zone. This can prove to be a nightmare for some hardcore campers who chose to play the game out from one corner. In addition to this, the damage dealt from the Blue Zone grenade can be stacked with “N” number of grenades, of the same kind. The blue zone Grenade generates a circular blue zone area with maximum coverage of ten meters nearly lasting for five seconds. It will disappear after five seconds of detonation.

PUBG 13.2 Update patch notes

In this update, fan-favorite P90 SMG is being added to Care Packages. The P90 will be the first Care Package SMG since the original Tommy Gun, and as such, the developers have made sure it is a worthy addition. It comes loaded with its own unique 5.7mm High Powered ammo, which is capable of longer-range combat, unlike our other SMGs. It also comes with a Cheek Pad, Handguard, Laser, and Silencer pre-attached and non-detachable.

It also features dual optics that allow for fast switching between close-range and medium-range combat. Use the Holographic Sight for nearby foes and Flip on the Flipsight for added magnification when they make a run for it.

It comes paired with 250 rounds of 5.7mm ammo in the Care Package.

A single magazine holds up to 50 rounds which you (and your foes) can see deplete live as you’re firing due to the magazine’s translucent design. With the translucent magazine keeping you aware of the high Rate of Fire and the Laser helping you keep track of your targets, the P90 is a solid addition to your loadout.

  •  Spawns on all maps
  • Equipped with all attachments right out of the crate
  • Silencer
  • Laser
  • 50 round magazine
  • Non-detachable small low profile sight with some magnification
  • Ammo type
