Battlefield 2042 got delayed to November 19

0

Battlefield 2042 was set to release on 22 October for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, with an open beta later this month. However, industry insiders Jeff Grubb from Venture Beat and DualShockers’ Tom Henderson claimed that the game could be delayed but will maintain its 2021 release. DICE and their supporting studios have now confirmed the leaks, stating that Battlefield 2042 will now launch on November 19, 2021, almost 4 weeks after its initial release date.

“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams,” Oskar Gabrielson, DICE General Manager issued a statement.

“Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work for the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.”

The announcement also mentions that details regarding the Open Beta will be shared “later this month,” indicating that that the September 22 beta has been delayed in conjunction with the final product. According to Tom Henderson, the beta will now begin on October 6 for players who have pre-ordered Battlefield 2042, while the Open Beta launches on October 8 for everyone else.

It seems that this holiday season will be packed and eventful, with Battlefield 2042 releasing closer to Call of Duty: Vanguard and Halo: Infinite.

The CSGO Knife That Costs More than $1.5 million

0

The CSGO skin marketplace is no stranger to hefty prices but the one we’re talking about today might just take the cake, priced at more than a million and a half US dollars.

You wouldn’t have to go back in time too much to figure out how the Skins in CSGO have exploded in price. An AWP Dragon Lore, one of the most coveted items in the game used to cost $2000 in 2018.

But today its nothing close to that, priced at $10,000. The same can be said for the most valuable stickers, the Titan and iBuypower Holo stickers from EMS One Katowice 2014, which cost $50,000 and $30,000 respectively.

But the knife that is THE MOST valuable item, is nowhere close to that number. Owned by a well-known trader by the name of Newb Rage, the Karambit|Case Hardened is a sight to see. A blue gem from top to bottom was priced at $600,000 just a few weeks back. But there have been many developments in that price since.

Twitch streamer and trader ‘ohnePixel’ acted as a middleman for the purchase of the knife owned by Newb Rage. The amount offered was $1.2 Million, the most ever in CSGO history and by a large margin. But the owner still refused to sell, citing the offer as low and asking for a price of $1.5 million or higher.

With the rise of Cryptocurrencies and NFTs(non-fungible tokens) more and more people have invested in CSGO skins, and if this is a sign of things to come the prices may be even higher in the coming days.

A South Korean High School has an Esports Department and government issued textbooks

South Korea has a rich culture of esports with a big history of competition in retro titles such as StarCraft. A South Korean High School has inculcated esports as an integral part of their curriculum by using government issued textbooks to promote esports among the students.

South Korea has been a dominant competitor across various titles and one of the best regions in world’s biggest esports title ‘League of Legends’. This region has produced stars like Faker, who is recognized globally as one of the best players to ever touch the game.

A tweet from PlayerIGN, a well known PUBG data miner, has revealed that these textbooks are approved by the South Korean government and teach various aspects of esports to the students.

https://twitter.com/PlayerIGN/status/1437961630508204035

The textbook contains information about the history of esports, how to prepare for a real tournament and includes modules of multiple genres of esports titles such as MOBA, FPS, FIFA and RTS. The name of this high school is ‘Eunpyeong Meditech High School’ and it is located in Seoul, South Korea.

This school has a dedicated esports department with multiple gaming classrooms. The following video showcases multiple insights on how the classes are conducted and mostly, League of Legends is the preferred title due to its immense popularity in South Korea.

The modules of their course were also mentioned in brief where it was stated that the first year contains information about various esports events and esports in general. The second year students learn about work ethics in esports industry and in the final year, students receive a ‘esports psychological training’.

It is a very rare sight to see a High School including esports as a part of their curriculum and this certainly shows the influence of esports industry as a whole in South Korea.

Activision Blizzard Employees File Unfair Labor Practice Suit Against The Company

0

After a lawsuit from the federal department of California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), Activision Blizzard faces further legal action, and this time it is from the very employees of the company.

Employees at Activision Blizzard along with ABetterABK and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) have filed a new lawsuit over unfair labor practices. The lawsuit accuses Activision Blizzard of violating federal labor laws through intimidation, union-busting, and surprising evidence.

In a press release yesterday (14th Sept), CWA alleges that Activision Blizzard is retaliating against employee efforts to organize by “using coercive tactics to attempt to prevent its employees from exercising their rights to stand together and demand a more equitable, sustainable, and diverse workplace.”

The current lawsuit follows on the July lawsuit filed by the state of California Department of Fair Employment and Housing for its “pervasive frat boy workplace culture.”

Tom Smith, national Organizing Director at CWA said:

“We are very inspired by the bravery of ABK workers, and we will always stand shoulder to shoulder with workers fighting harassment, assault, and discrimination. Management could have responded with humility and a willingness to take the necessary steps to address the horrid conditions some ABK workers have faced. Instead, Activision Blizzard’s response to righteous worker activity was surveillance, intimidation, and hiring notorious union busters. The National Labor Relations Board under the Biden Administration has made it clear that it will hold companies accountable whenever they break the law; we have filed these charges to ensure that the actions of ABK management will not go unanswered.”

For the past 3 months, Activision Blizzard as a company is undergoing the federal agency lens for its culture of “constant sexual harassment” and “turning a blind eye to complaints”.

Some faces such as Blizzard president J. Allen Brack, Head of HR Jesse Meschuk, and three more high profile Blizzard employees have left the company following the lawsuit.

Since then the company has tried various things such as CEO Bobby Kotick’s letter promising to improve the culture and amend the wrong, to hiring union busters to stop employees from unionizing, the company has failed miserably to appease its employee.

Reports Of Nvidia RTX 2060 Revamp With 12GB GDDR6 Memory Emerges

0

Earlier this year, reports of Nvidia revamping its one gen older RTX 2000 series emerged after the worldwide chip shortage made it almost impossible to find RTX 3000 series cards on the shelf. The report stated that Nvidia had plans to revamp two of its most popular cards from the RTX 2000 series — RTX  2060 and RTX 2060 Super.

Thanks to a new round of rumors confirming the revival of the RTX 2060 card the earlier reports might become a reality very soon.

According to insider information that Videocardz got from its sources, NVIDIA is now planning to launch an updated RTX 2060 GPU based on Turing architecture with model number PG161. The new card would feature 12GB GDDR6 memory and the same TU106-300 GPU. Contrary to the previous RTX 2060 6GB card which launched in January 2019, the new RTX 2060 will only double the memory and won’t include any new features from RTX 3000 series cards.

The source also claims that NVIDIA has allegedly told its board partners to anticipate this card by the end of this year or possibly in early January next year. Since these cards will be manufactured on the same TSMC 12nm FinFET node the availability of the wafer will be better than the extremely limited wafer quantity on the Samsung 8nm node that is used in the RTX 3000 series.

This new card will act as a stop-gap measure until the chip shortage eases a little. While it’s good news for gamers, at the same time it confirms that the chip shortage will be in effect for the most part of 2022. So your dreams of getting the new latest and greatest RTX 3000 series might suffer a little.
