Free Fire OB30 update to bring in previously announced nerfs to Chrono

Free fires Chrono character has always been the apple of the eye for the community after the OB25 December update because of its overpowered special ability in-game. The developers took a huge chunk of time to realize the unfair monster they had deployed onto the live servers and led to players not being to play further with this character. The realization also soon led to the OB27 April 2021 update which nerfed the character to provide a more balanced gameplay experience.

Even post the nerf, the feedback from the community was not satisfactory said the developers as the character was still more powerful than the other co-characters in-game. Considering the same, a statement was made regarding further changes in the next 6 months where the special skills and the powers will be reworked they said.

The OB30 update is the update that will bring these changes into effect. Some reworks to Chrono will make the gameplay far more balanced than previously before.

Free Fire Season 24 announced

Free fire got the previous ranked season to reset on the 30th of August 2021 at 2:30 PM IST.

The new season demoted a whopping amount of players to lower ranks. The skill ceiling was recalibrated and to become a pro player the ranks had to be pushed again. But like all good things, this season has to come to an end and is going to be followed by the all-new season 24

When will season 23 end?

The current season will be in-game for 2 months ending on October 22nd at 12:30 PM IST. The rankup reward for season 23 is the SKS-S23 exclusive: Andrew “The fierce”.

Players can redeem this after reaching the gold 1 tier. Failure to do so will remove the rewards as soon as the new season update patch goes live.

When will the new season 24 arrive?

The next season will also be deployed on the 22nd of October at 2:30 PM IST after a short maintenance break of 2 hours. The old features and rewards will all be replaced with fresh new ones soon as the patch goes live.

Also just as all the previous seasons, the update will also bring new rewards for the season, so gear up to play!

RANK HIERARCHY IN SEASON 24

The rank tier expected for the upcoming season is as follows:

  • Bronze (I-III) -> Bronze I
  • Silver (I-III) -> Bronze II
  • Gold (I-IV) -> Silver I
  • Platinum (I-IV) -> Silver II
  • Diamond (I-IV) -> Gold I
  • Heroic -> Gold II

With the end of Ranked Season 23, a player will highest be left at Gold II-tier. So it is the best time to push your rank as much as possible before the current ranked season ends.

IEM Fall Closed Qualifier Teams Decided

With IEM Fall just around the corner, the open qualifiers have ended in the North American Region with South African org ATK and Triumph being the last teams to qualify for the Closed qualifier which is to be played between 18-19th September.

Teams qualify for the Closed qualifier via an open circuit of Open Qualifiers, once they get through there they take part in the Closed Qualifier for the Main Event, that is, IEM FALL.

The North American Closed Qualifier contains household names such as Bad News Bears and GODSENT as well as 2 other Brazilian teams and 2 American ones.

Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, and FURIA are already part of the main event based on their previous performances and RMR rankings. The closed qualifier will play out with the following teams:

  • paiN Gaming
  • Bad News Bears
  • RBG
  • Triumph
  • TeamOne
  • GODSENT
  • Strife
  • ATK

Two out of the 8 teams will be eliminated and the 6 that remain will make it to the main event. Bad News Bears and GODSENT will be the favorites as GODSENT has some pretty big names in their roster, such as major winner ‘TACO’ and Brazilian fan-favorite ‘felps’,

Bad News Bears too will look to make it to IEM Fall: NA and gather some more RMR points in the hope that they make it to the PGL Stockholm Major. They are fresh off their win at Fragdelphia 15 and will look to continue winning with the momentum.

Five Big Names That Could Miss Out on the PGL Stockholm Major 2021

It has been more than 2 years since Astralis completed a hatrick of consecutive Majors at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin. The venue, coincidentally plays host to the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Stage 3 Masters 2021 at present. While CSGO is yet to have another Major since that night in Berlin.

With the announcement of the PGL Stockholm Major in January, CS fans finally had something to look forward to. The RMR circuit is about to be concluded as well, with the Regional Major Rankings deciding which teams make it to the Major in October and those who don’t.

Times have been turbulent for every team in the Online era due to the pandemic, which reflects in the RMR standings. With slightly less known names like FunPlus Phoenix and Double Poney actually in contention for the Challengers Stage, it puts some big names in jeopardy. We’ll take a look at the biggest names that could miss out on the most coveted in event in 2 years lest they fail to show up at IEM Fall.

#1 OG

OG has impressed us all in 2021, after the addition of ‘flameZ’ and ‘niko’ to the rosters. They made the finals of IEM Summer, finished in the top 4 in ESL Pro League S14. Even before that they were the runners up of Flashpoint 2. But in RMR events their performances have been less than convincing and they currently sit at 12th, with 430 points. They would need a better finish than Sprout and Double Poney, and by a margin if they are to make it to Stockholm.

#2 FaZe Clan

Whoever saw FaZe Clan play in 2020 and early 2021 knows that they haven’t been up to their usual standards. With the transfer of ‘NiKo’ to G2 and then removal of ‘coldzera’ they had to face a deduction of points as well and have just 248 points, well behind Sprout with 480 who have currently claimed the last Contender spot.

#3 Fnatic

The Swedes arguably had the worst time of all in the Online era and never seemed to have recovered. They had to remove veterans such as ‘JW’ and ‘Golden’ to bring themselves even in contention with the big names but their qualification to the Major seems unlikely as they have 294 points, just above FaZe Clan

#4 Virtus.pro

The CIS squad who had a dream run towards the end of 2020 and early 2021 seem to have stopped midway. In the RMR events they have faced regular upsets at the hands of forZe and K23. IEM Fall will be the last event where they can try to gather some points, but it would be an uphill battle as they are 850 points behind 5th ranked forZe. It’ll be a shock to see the runners-up of the last Major not make it to this one.

#5 Extra Salt

Cited as NA’s last hope on occasion, Extra Salt have still not locked in a spot at the Major. They are placed 6th, behind EXTREMUM, Team Liquid, FURIA, Evil Geniuses and 00Nation. They have 1200 points and would need a better finish than EG or 00 Nation by a margin of 110 points or more if they are to make it.

After a disappointing 2020, the 3-time Major winning org was in dire straits throughout. Not making playoffs for S-tier events in 2020, and then losing to Tier 2 teams from the EU in early 2021 coupled with dead last finishes in 3 events on the trot had them scrambling. Unmotivated players and bad results are never a good mix and it showed.

Jesper “JW” Wecksell was benched from the roster in July 2021 which left ‘KRIMZ’ as the only remaining member of the famed Fnatic roster which one 3 Majors in the early years of CSGO. JW was a crucial part of that roster but his performances had been going downhill for a while and the benching was inevitable.

In-game leader ‘Golden’ was benched as well a few days before JW, as Fnatic went into a rebuilding phase. ‘Jackinho’ had already been added in place of flusha earlier in 2020 but he had role clashes with JW, both of them being AWPers.

Fnatic then signed ex-cloud9 duo Alex ‘ALEX’ McMeekin and William ‘mezii’ Merriman as IGL and rifler respectively. When both of them were signed in August 2021, the roster was #64 in the rankings, well out of the top 30.

Along with them, ex-Complexity coach ‘Keita’ was signed as well in the role of Strategic Coach. The results showed immediately as the roster was put in the toughest group of ESL Pro League Season 14. They defeated Evil Geniuses, FaZe Clan, and BIG in their run and qualified for the playoffs ahead of FaZe Clan and BIG which was no mean feat by any chance.

They did lose to Liquid in the Round of 12 but showed promise in their games and showed that with time, they’ll only improve. They rocketed up to #24 in the HLTV world rankings, and with the last RMR, IEM Fall coming up they’ll even look to vie for a contender spot in the PGL Stockholm Major.

REPORT: ‘flamie’ is a free agent according to Dosia

According to Counter Strike veteran and Major winner Mikhail ‘Dosia’ Stolyarov, NaVi player Egor ‘flamie’ Vasilev is a free agent now after terminating his contract with the org.

In a stream yesterday, PGL Krakow Major 2017 winner ‘Dosia’ claimed that NaVi has agreed to terminate flamie’s contract after 5 months of him being on the bench.

Dosia also claimed that flamie has received offers from teams that have ‘tier 1 players and with players that have potential to be tier 1’. The addition of flamie could work in a Hobbit-esque manner as it did for Gambit, having an experienced veteran with a team of young superstars for upcoming CIS teams.

Flamie joined NaVi 6 years ago, in 2015 as a stand-in and has been a permanent member since then, until his benching in April 2021 for 18 year old ‘B1T’. While on NaVi, flamie saw immense success and was the runner up at the FACEIT London Major 2018. He also won BLAST Global Final in 2020, and IEM Katowice 2020. He is also listed as part of the roster that won the Intel Grand Slam for his participation in the IEM Katowice 2020 win.

While these rumours could be false, it is more than likely to happen soon with the integration of ‘B1T’ going more than well for NaVi, having already won 3 trophies with him on the roster.
