2. Play the map

Former CSGO Pro Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowsk entered a new sport this past week as he debuted in his first MMA fight at High League PL. The announcement for the fight had been made a few months ago and Pasha had been training hard for it, as could be seen. He defeated Michal “OwcaWK” Owczarzak, who’s a bodybuilder and influencer in just 2 rounds, making short work of his adversary.

Before the fight, there was an outpour of support for Pasha from the esports community and from CSGO in particular. Pashabiceps represented Virtus.pro during their most dominant era and won a CSGO Major with them, alongside numerous other trophies. Pasha had always been well loved by fans and players alike, for his fun interactions and overall wholesome persona.

The CSGO community wasn’t far behind when it came to returning the love and support for their Papito. Be it Pro players like Christopher ‘GeT_RiGhT’ Alesund, Alex ‘ALEX’ McMeekin and Gabriel ‘falleN’ Toledo, casters such as Jason ‘moses’ O’toole, Anders Blume, the official FACEIT Account, the VP of IEM ‘carmac’ or even the Official CSGO account, everyone changed their Twitter profile pictures to that of PashaBiceps, to show him their support.

After the fight, Pasha thanked the community and his fans for their support. Saying that it was the support from the esport world that gave him a boost and he was able to win the fight in two rounds and that it made him feel like old times.

The official CSGO account also congratulated the former Virtus.pro star, after his win, like the rest of the community.

According to his instagram story, Pasha’s opponent suffered a broken eye socket and a retina issue after the fight. Pasha thanked Owcka for the fight as well and prayed for his recovery. Pasha has  no plans for stopping and said that this was only the beginning, signalling to the fact that he will continue his stint in MMA.

Having a paraglider is a cherry on top of the cake as it would never break let alone to worry about the repair costs and won’t take up space in your inventory.

The Paraglider you would receive would need to be upgraded by locating the craftmaster on your map. It can be upgraded twice, consuming Old World Money and Military Tech every time you would opt to upgrade.

As the Season 1 of Warzone Pacific and Vanguard comes to an end, the teams at Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games are gearing up for the release of the Season 2 update. 

The Season 2 update was supposed to go live on Feb 2nd but due to ongoing bugs within the game, the developers decided it was best to delay the season 2 update slightly and iron out as many bugs and glitches as possible for a smoother player experience.

Now the update is supposed to go live on Feb 14th and as with previous Warzone and Vanguard updates, players will want to download Season 2 update as quickly as possible to drop into the action once again. 

Today we are going to talk about common practices that you should follow in case you are looking to maximize your download speed or quickly install the update. 

1. Close background applications: Even if you own a high-end pc with good internet, some background applications or windows will try to download and install updates. It is generally a good practice to always disable any unwanted application as well as pause windows updates. This will ensure that no background application is sneakily eating away your internet bandwidth.

For Console players, a similar method can be followed with only a slight difference. Since both PS and Xbox consoles are all-in-one systems you can simply put your consoles in rest mode to ensure that the update gets priority over other tasks and completely first. 

2. Use Ethernet: Another common method to increase your download speed is by connecting your device via an ethernet cable. Sometimes when using Wifi the connection can face slowdowns as more devices join the network which will result in lower than expected download speeds. This method can be followed on any platform of your choice. 

3. Reset router: Nowadays most routers will cache DNS and site data for faster loading times. Most of the time it works reliably and actually increases the performance of websites, but sometimes these caches can get corrupted and cause issues later. Resetting the router will flush out old cache data and re-build new cache files which will fix any issues that may be affecting your download speed and other internet problems. 

4. Change DNS server: Most ISPs will automatically set a suitable DNS server that is close to your location and will provide the best performance. Sometimes the DNS servers used by ISPs can be slowed down due to traffic or maintenance, in that case, you can use open public DNS servers that are free to use. Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 is one of the best and most popular public DNS that is used widely. You can also try out Google’s 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 DNS servers in case you are having issues with Cloudflare DNS. 

5. Use a VPN (not recommended): only try this if other methods didn’t work for you. Using a VPN can fix your download speeds in case your ISP is throttling connection or taking a longer route to the destination server (i.e. ISP is looping requests through many places before reaching the destination). Just remember to only use the VPN server of your country (i.e. don’t use a European VPN server if you are from Asia or vice versa). Also only use VPN to download and install updates, don’t play the game with VPN enabled.

When is the next CSGO Major?

With the announcement of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022, Valve seems to be going back to its model of 2 CSGO Majors a year. The esports side of CSGO had suffered greatly during the coronavirus pandemic. IEM Katowice was the last LAN event, that too without a crowd and every event since had to be shifted online. The cancellation of Rio 2020 meant there would be no CSGO Majors for 2020. 

In 2021, CSGO went into a hybrid state of online+LAN events. The early days saw only online events and revered tournaments such as IEM Katowice and ESL Pro League Season 13 had to be played online. We finally got back to LAN in July, with IEM Cologne taking place in a studio LAN environment.

The first CSGO Majors in 2 years, PGL Stockholm 2021 was a breath of fresh air and was exactly what was missing from the CSGO space. PGL Major Stockholm was a huge success and broke every viewership record there was for CSGO Majors. A concurrent viewership of 2.75 million was a testament to the hype and the popularity that surrounded CSGO and 2021 ended on an unprecedented high for CSGO.

CSGO MAJORS IN 2022

After the reduction in the spread of COVID-19, Valve has decided to conduct 2 CSGO Majors yet again. The first CSGO Major of 2022 will take place in Antwerp, Belgium and will be hosted by the same TO that hosted the last Major – PGL.

PGL Antwerp Major will run from May 9 – May 22. The playoffs will take place from May 19-22 in the Antwerps Sportpaleis, an 18,000 capacity arena.

The prize pool for the first CSGO Major of 2022 is $1 million, reverting to the old prize pool for a major again. PGL Stockholm Major had a prize pool of $2 million since we hadn’t had a Major in 2 years. But Valve will go back to the 2 Major a year formula for 2022 and the prize pool for each will be $1 million.

The second CSGO Major is rumoured to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Rio Major will be hosted by ESL, their first CSGO Major since IEM Katowice 2019. 

This was reported by dexerto.com back in January. IEM Rio Major 2022 is likely to be held in the latter half of the year and the rumoured dates are October 31-November 13. 

WHO WILL PLAY AT CSGO MAJORS IN 2022?

Valve also took an active role in the professional CSGO scene and published an updated rulebook for CSGO Majors. This rulebook is to be referred to by Tournament organisers who will be hosting CSGO Majors. 

The Valve CSGO Major rulebook combined the six different regions in the online era into 3 regions. The teams will be able to qualify for the Major by playing in the RMR event which will take place on LAN and gathering enough RMR points. The 3 regions are – 

  • Europe (Previously Europe and CIS)
  • Americas (Previously North America and South America)
  • Asia (Previously Asia and Oceania)

Valve reveals the CSGO Major rulebook, changes made to the RMR format

A supplemental CSGO Major Rulebook has been deployed in a bid to eliminate “inconsistencies across Valve-sponsored events and allow tournament operators to prepare their staff well in advance of their events”.

Valve has released a CSGO Major Rulebook which highlights a plethora of aspects involving from the format of Major tournaments to Technical Specifications and Regulations to be scrutinized ahead of the pinnacle challenges. Through a blog post headlining the next PGL Major to be held in Antwerp, Belgium from May 19-22, the new Major Rulebook was brought into effect starting from the Antwerp major and forward.

Over the past two years, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive majors had indeed hit the slump leading to the ESL One: Road to Rio major getting canceled due to a series of unforeseeable circumstances forced by the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic as the Minors and the qualifiers were forced online, making Valve to introduce a new Regional Major Ranking System (RMR) spread across the regions Europe, Americas, Oceania, CIS, and Asia.

The CSGO Major Series Supplemental Rulebook does overhaul the above system with a single RMR event system and not more than one.

According to what Valve addressed is the Regional Major Ranking events (RMRs) sort teams within their region, and the top teams from each region receive Major invitations. In addition, the geographic dependencies would be taken into consideration in a bid to provide the teams with the least possible latency while in competition. 

Would the RMR events be held on LAN, there would be just three regions comprising the teams across the globe:

  • Europe
  • America
  • Asia

If the RMR event is forced to be held online, the above three regions would split in five:

  • Europe
  • North America
  • South America
  • Asia
  • Oceania

Unlike the previous majors, PGL Antwerp would determine their Legend and Challenger slots on the basis of how teams fared at the Stockholm Major. For example:

If a team from North America made it to the Champions Stage at the Stockholm Major, the NA region would earn a Legends Spot at the Antwerp Major while the teams reaching the New Legends stage at Stockholm would earn their regions, the Challenger spots in Belgium. The final contender spots are divided among the regions NA, EU, and Asia with the first two getting 3 each and Asia bagging two spots. 

The current and final composition of PGL Major Antwerp is as follows:

  • Europe : 7 Legends, 6 Challengers, 3 Contenders (Stockholm New Champions stage : Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, Gambit, Heroic, Virtus.Pro, Ninjas In Pyjamas, G2 Esports.)
  • Americas :  1 Legend, 2 Challengers, 3 Contenders (Stockholm New Champions Stage : Team Liquid.)
  • Asia : 2 Contenders
