Valorant Night Market Returns Today

Valorant players, keep your wallets ready, as it has been confirmed that the Valorant Night Market is set to return to the shooter today.

If you’re a Valorant skin collector, or simply looking to get some skins for cheap, the Night Market is definitely something you should be looking forward to returning.

The Night Market offers Valorant skins at discounted rates for the players to purchase. These discounts can be up to a whopping 50%, which means you can potentially get a Valorant skin at half its original price.

However, each player is only limited to receiving 6 skins in their Night Market that are revealed once the cards are flipped, and there’s no option to ‘reroll’ or ‘refresh’ these skins. This means, there’s always a chance that you won’t be receiving any skin you like, in which case you’ll have to wait for the next Night Market to arrive.

The only way to refresh the Night Market offers is through purchasing the skins that you get in your initial Night Market. Once you’ve completed a purchase, there’ll be a new skin waiting for you in the Night Market.

Typically, the Night Market returns to Valorant once every Act, and remains active for about two weeks before disappearing.

Since the Night Market is returning on May 18, players can expect for it to remain in the game until approximately June 1. If you’re looking to top-up your Valorant wallet and grab some Night Market skins, make sure to do so before it disappears.

Congress MP proposes formation of Online Gaming Commission to regulate gaming in India

0

Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, Dean Kuriakose, recently presented a private member’s bill in the Parliament seeking to form a new governing body to moniter and regulate the gaming industry in India. This proposed body will be known as Online Gaming Commission and will control multiple aspects if implemented.

The presented bill is known as Online Gaming (Regulation) Bill, 2022 and it is necessary to prevent fraudulent activities in the ever growing gaming industry of India.

The government of India has already been taking steps towards officially recognizing esports in the country by supporting it in several ways and this commission could be seen as an official body regulating these activities.

The bill aims at putting some restrictions on the gaming activity. According to Medianama, the Gaming Commission will take care of following things:

  • Provide oversight of the functioning of Online Gaming Websites
  • Prepare periodical or reports on online gaming for the Union Government
  • Suggest measures to control or curb illegal online gaming
  • Grant, suspend, and revoke the licence of online gaming websites
  • Determine fee for licence applications and renewals of such websites

If this bill is implemented, there would be some extreme limits set. As the bill mentions, a license will be issued to concerned parties to run servers and presumably events as well. The citation is as follows:

  • No person shall engage in Online Gaming except through an Online Gaming Website.
  • No person shall operate an Online Gaming Server or an Online Gaming Website without a license granted under this Act.
  • Any person who operates an Online Gaming Server or an Online Gaming Website without a license, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years and with such fine as may be prescribed.

The implications of Online Gaming (Regulation) Bill 2022 are very vague for now and it would be more clear once it is set in action, if the parliament decides to pass it and implement the entire proposed bill.

NiP CSGO in Sticker Money Dispute with Former and Current Players

A new report published by Richard Lewis of Dexerto.com revealed that Swedish organisation Ninjas in Pyjamas are in a dispute with some of their current as well as former players regarding the distribution of money earned from sticker sales.

The members of NiP’s CSGO roster claim that they should’ve gotten a share of the  sticker money, but havent as things stand.

Valve released RMR stickers in 2021, after the ESL One 2020 Rio Major was cancelled. Teams still had RMR points and were divided into categories of Legends, Challengers and Contenders. Based on the RMR points, sticker capsules were released and were named 2020 RMR Legends/Challengers/Contenders.

At the time, Tim ‘nawwk’ Jonasson was part of the roster as an AWPer and as per the report, he claims that he has right to a portion of the sticker money too and NiP are contractually obligated to do so.

According to sources, nawwk is looking to take action against his former organisation, for himself and for other players on the roster so they can get paid their fair share. The amount is expected to be around $200,000-$300,000, but nothing concrete can be said as the contract for players may differ from organisation to organisation.

According to the contract:

“[The] Team shall receive 16.67% of the team stickers money earned by the Player. The Player shall receive the remaining 83.33% of the team stickers money divided with his teammates.

The Player shall allocate 2% of the Player’s stickers money to a marketing fund dedicated to the CS:GO team.

Team shall when receiving the stickers money deduct and transfer to a dedicated bank account. The funds shall be spent on initiatives approved by the CS:GO team. Minimum four (4) members of the CS:GO team have to approve how the monies are spent.

The Player shall receive 100% of the individual stickers money, which is allocated to the players.”

The ESL One Rio 2020 Major was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and it wasnt until October 2021 that we got a new CSGO Major. Since the tournament didnt take place, the NiP management believe the move was done by Valve to support the scene by helping teams stay afloat and pay player salaries without having to release their roster.

NiP’s COO Jonas ‘calc’ Gundersen said

“I understand there’s a lot of talk floating around the ‘stickers’. We’ve talked about this earlier, but it seems people have forgotten. These were ‘Capsules’ created by the teams, and Ok’d by Valve, in order to survive the pandemic and keep paying salaries without any cuts, despite the complete lack of sponsorships and exposure.

Therefore it’s not stickers as it would be normally – because there was no major. This was a desperation move for many teams because elseway something like half would have pulled out of CS:GO altogether.

“I know many teams treated this differently and some paid portions out to the players – we opted not to do that and keep salaries intact and the business running normal, adding more support staff around the team to make it an even better place to win majors. There’s also very different contracts on teams based on the normal sticker money, where you guys get almost 100% and either way everyone does things individually.”

Sources say three active members of the NiP CSGO roster are also affected by this, namely Fredrik ‘REZ’ Sterner, Hampus ‘hampus’ Poser and Nicolas ‘Plopski’ Gonzalez Zamora who haven’t said anything publicly just yet.

PGL Antwerp CSGO Major – All Teams Qualified for Champions Stage

The Legends Stage of PGL Antwerp Major has come to a conclusion, giving us 8 teams that will compete for the biggest trophy in Professional CSGO.

The 8 remaining teams have qualified to the Champions stage, and will compete in a single elimination playoff bracket starting 19th May 2022 at the  Antwerp Sportpaleis in Belgium in front of a crowd of 18,000 spectators.

The 8 teams will battle it out for a prize pool of $1 million, the lion’s share of which $500,000 will go to the winning team. The prize pool for CSGO Majors had been upped from $250,000 to 1 million USD in 2016, at the MLG Columbus Major.

Since then all Majors have had a prize pool of $1 million, barring PGL Stockholm Major 2021 which had a prize pool of $2 million as it was the first CSGO Major in 2 years.

TOP 8 TEAMS AT PGL ANTWERP MAJOR 2022

The Legends stage ended with some upsets, with Cloud9 being the most notable of them.

After signing Gambit’s roster to return to CSGO after more than year, Cloud9 looked set for a deep run but a mismanaged map veto vs FaZe Clan, followed by a shock loss to Fallen’s Imperial saw them eliminated with 1-3 record in the legends stage.

Last year’s Major runner ups, G2 esports also failed to make it to the playoffs with their new roster as they fell to FURIA in the last game.

A tough road in the Legends stage saw them face NaVi and Heroic on their way, followed by Outsiders. They went out with a 2-3 score and will miss the top 8.

ZywOo, the 2nd best player of 2021 as per HLTV, will also not be present at the Champions Stage as Team Vitality lost to Heroic in a must win series, which saw the Danes progress ahead of the French-Danish mix.

The biggest surprise came from CIS side Team Spirit. They revamped their roster at the start of 2022 by adding Patsi and s1ren from their academy team.

They were the last team to qualify for the Major through the European RMR B and made their way to the Legends stage with ease. They shocked everyone by going 3-0 in the legends stage and were the first one to qualify for the playoffs, alongside reigning champions Natus Vincere.

LIST OF TEAMS QUALIFIED FOR PGL ANTWERP MAJOR QUARTER FINALS

  • Team Spirit – 3-0
  • Natus Vincere – 3-0
  • ENCE – 3-1
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas – 3-1

New Twitch emotes will help streamers support artists

0

Emotes were a big part of Twitch from its early days. They were designed a fun part for viewers to support the streamers and for obvious reasons it carries a storied history for the Amazon owned streaming platform.

Emotes are a fun way that uniquely distinguish every streamer from each other. They are unique and functional in its own way for which there is a lot of efforts that goes into its making.

Creators of these emotes did not get enough credit, until the latest update that would let streamers give shout-out to these artists.

The update on May 17 will be adding a way to credit the artist who created each individual emote, and a way to link to their Twitch profile, as well. Now, when streamers upload an emote, they can enter the name of the artist who created it and their name will show.

Never a better time to be an emote creator on Twitch, no more worries about exposure!

Pokimane faces backlash for Depp vs Heard meme

0

Depp vs Heard trial has resulted in plethora of memes. Every creator jumped in to get a piece of the pie and so did Pokimane but she came across severe backlash from the community to the point she was forced to delete it.

The Depp and Heard case, captured the attention of the media across the globe where Amber Heard is getting devoured by the media for her acts of injustice against Johnny Depp.

Pokimane like all of us, has been following the developments in the case and has subject it to joke which many people did not like.

The community were disgusted by the idea of someone making a mockery of domestic abuse. Several users criticized her for deleting the post before mentioning that everyone knows she posted it in the first place.

One user stated: “Love mocking a huge domestic abuse case!! This will definitely not signal that I’m a terrible person to come to in case you’re being abused!”

Another user said: “Ah yes let’s make memes and jokes about this case cuz this will definitely not affect anyone in the same situation.”

Pokimane has deleted the Tweet ever since but people will remember this for a long time.
