VALORANT hits a worrying benchmark at VCT Masters Copenhagen with record-low viewership

VCT Masters Copenhagen, although being the first VALORANT event in front of a live audience, did not have the success that fans would have expected.

Riot Games’ FPS reached a significant milestone in front of a passionate live audience at Forum Copenhagen. Still, its online broadcast of the tournament peaked at 786,185 viewers for the championship match between FunPlus Phoenix and Paper Rex, according to Esports Charts. The peak viewership is the lowest ever recorded for an international VALORANT competition.

Furthermore, VCT Masters Copenhagen had the lowest average viewership in VALORANT’s international history: 317,748. From July 10 to July 24, 12 teams from across the world competed in Denmark for a piece of the $650,000 prize pool.

The VCT Masters Copenhagen tournament was the second worldwide VALORANT event to not draw a million concurrent spectators.

According to Esports Charts, the VCT Stage Three Masters Berlin in 2021 did not break the million viewing threshold either, although the tournament in Germany peaked at 811,370 viewers.
