Twitch has been on a ban spree and the latest to get under the hammer is U.S. President Donald Trump. The Amazon-owned streaming platform has temporarily suspended President Trump’s account for ‘hateful conduct.’
President Trump is resuming his Twitch’s campaign for the upcoming elections, hence the activity on the account went up recently. Twitch apparently is clear on not altering their code of conducts and ethical guidelines even when the insubordinate is world’s most powerful man, i.e. President of the United States of America.
In a conversation with Gamesindustry.biz, Twitch’s official confirmed the action and added, “Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch. In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed.”
The report furthers that the account was banned because of several hateful comments, one even dating back as far as 2016. The recent one however, triggered the action. “Hey, it’s 1:00 o’clock in the morning and a very tough — I’ve used the word on occasion, hombre — a very tough hombre is breaking into the window of a young woman whose husband is away as a traveling salesman or whatever he may do. And you call 911 and they say, ‘I’m sorry, this number’s no longer working.’ By the way, you have many cases like that, many, many, many. Whether it’s a young woman, an old woman, a young man or an old man and you’re sleeping.”
The ban on President Trump’s account is temporary. Though, yesterday Reddit had permanently banned a sub-reddit called “The_Donald” citing ‘policy violation.’
Not many days ago Twitch had put a permanent ban on one of the famous gaming personalities who goes by the in-game nick DrDisrespect. The streaming platform however, didn’t comment on the reason of the ban yet. It, however, appears, Twitch is tweaking it user’s guidelines with excellent stringency.
