The Execute Producer of Krafton Inc, Kim Chang-han, has confirmed that Krafton is working on a new PUBG-based battle royale game and plans to release it by this year. It was also revealed that another PUBG-related PC and console title is under development alongside a completely new horror mode game. These new games can be referred to as PUBG and PUBG Mobile 2.
A report by Bloomberg has revealed this information cited by the Execute Producer himself. In this short interview story, Kim has stated some interesting plans for Krafton in the near future and some of them are directly linked to the launch of new versions of PUBG and PUBG Mobile this year.
Krafton has made big strides since the launch of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds and the mobile version of this game. PUBG became world-famous in a short period of time and became the face of battle royale titles for a short period. As the hype surrounding this game started to fade away, PUBG Mobile made an entrance into the market and took everybody by the storm. PUBG Mobile became immensely popular in the world, especially in the Asian region.
Owing to the success of their predecessors, Krafton is ready to launch a new series of PUBG games that could be similar to the former but unique at the same time. The description of these titles belonging to the ‘battle royale’ genre makes them sound very similar to the pre-existing titles so it will be interesting to see how new changes are implemented in these new games.
Previously, a Korean report revealed a similar kind of exclusive information where these games were referred to as ‘Battlegrounds 2.0’ and ‘Project XTRM’ but as there is no official announcement yet, these games can be considered as the newer versions or PUBG 2 and PUBG Mobile 2.0.
The mention of an upcoming horror game by Krafton is a big announcement. After becoming successful in the BR genre games, shifting to an entirely new genre is a big task. This game will be based on the “PUBG universe three centuries into the future” and will be released in 2022.
