PGL’s plans for their 2027 Krakow event have hit a snag. The TAURON Arena, initially booked for PGL’s tournament from January 13-25, is no longer available. It appears Krakow itself has stepped in as host and co-organizer of a competing event during the same timeframe.
This development has clearly surprised PGL. They expressed disappointment with the venue’s last-minute cancellation, emphasizing the impact on both themselves and the Counter-Strike community. Despite this setback, PGL remains steadfast in their commitment to holding a CS2 event during those dates (January 13-25, 2027) in Krakow. They’ve immediately begun the search for an alternative venue, one that understands the importance of esports and welcomes its global audience.
Interestingly, PGL had previously announced Krakow as the host city for this very event. They even have a history in the city, having organized the successful PGL Major Krakow back in 2017, where Gambit emerged victorious.
The original plan was to return to the TAURON Arena, a venue capable of seating over 15,000 for sporting events. PGL’s CEO, Silviu Stroie, even highlighted the positive memories from the 2017 Major, expressing excitement about returning to Krakow and building on that legacy.
