The PGL 2028 calendar now has 6 events instead of 8. PGL has confirmed the updated schedule, with a combined investment of $11 million across the year. The tournament organizer had earlier announced 8 events for 2028, but it has now cut that number. The first event starts on January 14, and the last one ends on October 16.
Here are the full dates and the events that PGL removed. The article also covers the funding PGL has pledged for 2027 and 2028.
PGL 2028 Calendar: What Changed
PGL has confirmed 6 Counter-Strike 2 events for 2028. The organizer had announced 8 tier-one events earlier, so the list is now 2 events shorter.
The 2 removed events were set for August 16 to 28 and November 1 to 13. The August slot overlapped with the usual dates of the CS Asia Championships.
The new plan carries a combined investment of $11 million for the year. That figure matches the yearly commitment PGL made in its CS2 roadmap for 2027 and 2028.
PGL 2028 Schedule and Dates
Each event now has a fixed slot. The events run for about 11 to 13 days each. Here is the full PGL 2028 schedule:
| Event | Dates |
|---|---|
| #1 | January 14 to 24 |
| #2 | February 9 to 21 |
| #3 | March 23 to April 3 |
| #4 | April 19 to May 1 |
| #5 | August 31 to September 11 |
| #6 | October 4 to 16 |
Four events take place in the first half of the year. The last two run in late summer and autumn. The list gives dates only and does not name hosts or locations for the events.
Events Removed From the PGL 2028 Calendar
PGL first revealed its 8-event plan for 2028 in an earlier announcement. That plan had the 2 extra events in August and November.
The August 16 to 28 slot sat on the dates that the CS Asia Championships normally use. The November 1 to 13 event has also been dropped.
All other dates from the earlier plan stay in the new schedule.
PGL Funding for 2027 and 2028
The 2028 events fall under the PGL Tier 1 program for CS2. PGL announced that program earlier this year with at least $22 million in funding across 2027 and 2028. That works out to at least $11 million per year.
The yearly money has several parts:
- $6 million goes to teams and players based on results. $3 million is player prize money, and $3 million goes to clubs.
- $2.2 million is a VRS invite bonus for teams that accept invites.
- $2.8 million is a viewership incentive.
Each event carries a $1 million prize pool. The invite bonus is $400,000 for 4 events per year and $300,000 for 2 events per year. It is paid to the top 5 VRS teams that accept their invites.

PGL has now locked its dates for 2028. Teams and fans can plan around the 6 slots listed above.
The updated list leaves no overlap with the CS Asia Championships dates mentioned in the original report. Further details on the events are yet to be shared.
