FURIA are the winners of the PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, beating Nemiga 3-2. Having lost the opening map, the Brazilians were tested until the final map of the game by upstarts from CIS, as all five maps were needed to crown the champion in Romania.
This win marks their second tier-1 trophy of the second half of the season, following their Thunderpick World Championship title in October. FURIA, as a team, fell short multiple times in the first half of the season, despite making deep runs at a number of events; however, they managed to secure important victories against the likes of MOUZ and BetBoom, but NAVI and Spirit exposed the cracks earlier in the event.
As It Happened
Nemiga came in with hot hands to kick off the Grand Finals, securing a whopping 10-2 half on the T side of Ancient. With a solid start to the series, they secured a flawless second half to close out the map and take an early lead in the series. FURIA returned the favor in the following map as they levelled the series with a 13-5 win in Dust2. With a level scoreline, FURIA went on to secure yet another one-sided map, taking the lead with a 13-2 win in Cache, putting Nemiga on series point.
Nemiga found their footing in the 4th map as they kept FURIA on the back foot for the better part of the map, as a tight scoreline sent the series to the final map of the series. Starting on the defensive side of Nuke, FURIA edged out a narrow lead before maintaining their momentum on the offensive side, having switched sides. Winning the pistol helped extend the lead further as FURIA pushed the series over the line with a 13-6 scoreline. YEKINDAR’s 82 kills across five maps proved instrumental in the side’s dominance at the tournament as the Latvian secured a whopping 1.56 IR.
FURIA have secured an important victory that will help build their confidence ahead of the highly anticipated PGL Major. The losses to NAVI and Spirit have raised questions, especially given the little time they have left. On the other hand, a convincing win over MOUZ has shown everyone that when it comes to playoffs, they are capable of hanging with the best teams, but only time will tell if they can achieve similar results against the likes of Vitality and Falcons.
