Asian Games 2022 Will Feature 8 Esports Titles Including Dota 2, Hearthstone and Street Fighter

Gamers across the world, rejoice! What many avid esports enthusiasts had considered to be a distant dream is now, in fact, a reality. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has confirmed that the 19th Asian Games that will take place in Hangzhou, China in September 2022 will feature 8 esports titles.

This is the first time that an esports event has been recognised as an official medal sport of the continental games. However, esports did make an appearance in the 2018 Asian Games as a demonstration sport.

This is undoubtedly huge news for the world of esports as it reflects the rapid growth and popularity of esports in the Asian continent.

Asian Games 2022 Esports Titles

As mentioned earlier, eight esports titles are set to be featured in the 2022 Asian Games and will award the winners with a total of 24 medals.

“We are looking forward to working closely with our friends at the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) and the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee to ensure a successful execution of the esports event at the 2022 Asian Games,” said Husain Al-Musallam, Director General of the OCA.

The esports titles included in the 2022 Asian Games are:

  • Arena of Valor (Asian Games Version)
  • Dota 2
  • Dream Three Kingdoms 2
  • EA SPORTS FIFA branded soccer games
  • HearthStone
  • League of Legends
  • PUBG Mobile (Asian Games Version)
  • Street Fighter V
