Gamers across the world, rejoice! What many avid esports enthusiasts had considered to be a distant dream is now, in fact, a reality. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has confirmed that the 19th Asian Games that will take place in Hangzhou, China in September 2022 will feature 8 esports titles.

This is the first time that an esports event has been recognised as an official medal sport of the continental games. However, esports did make an appearance in the 2018 Asian Games as a demonstration sport.

This is undoubtedly huge news for the world of esports as it reflects the rapid growth and popularity of esports in the Asian continent.
