All the games coming to Xbox Game Pass in January 2021

A new year means a new beginning and what can be a  better start than getting more value on a service you paid for before. With the start of January 2021, Microsoft has finally announced the upcoming addition of games to the already bang-for-the-buck Xbox Game Pass service. 

Available for everyone subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft will be adding the following titles to the Game Pass Library:

  • Killer Queen Black (Jan 5)
  • Cyber Shadow (Jan 26)
  • The Medium (Jan 28) – Xbox Series X/S Only
  • Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 Remastered (Jan 28)

This time around Microsft isn’t starting the year with a bang and has managed to get Yakuza 3,4 and 5 remastered on the game pass at the same time as their PC launch. Furthermore, now With the addition of the remastered versions, all the Yakuza games are playable on Xbox Game Pass.

For those unaware of Yakuza games, it is a Japanese video game franchise created, owned, and published by Sega. The Yakuza series primarily genre is beat ’em up, but elements of the action-adventure, open world, and action role-playing genres are also incorporated in each game.

The main theme of the series is the desire of the protagonist to leave being Yakuza for good and start over, raising orphans and trying to assimilate into civilian life, but the protagonist will face a continuous challenge from other Yakuza groups and thugs that are trying to take him down. Yakuza games offer players a variety of fighting styles to choose from. 

Cyber Shadow is another game from Sega that will join the game pass library on Jan 26th.

It is a 2d retro game that will take you back to the days of the Sega Generis. You play as a cybernetic ninja named Shadow who sets out to rescue his clan in a world overrun by machine.

As for other games, The Medium is an exclusive game for Series X/S only, and The Killer Queen Black is a multiplayer strategy game where you play with up to 8 players.

Team up with your friends on a journey to defeat the opponent’s queen and win the game. It is the first game of the year that’s coming on the Xbox Game Pass and will be available on Jan 5th.
