YouTuber robbed at gunpoint while attempting to run across Africa

Russ Cook known by his YouTube handle The Hardest Geezer was robbed at gunpoint during his ambitious quest to be the first person to run the entire distance of Africa.

During his run, the YouTuber is actively collecting funds for two charitable organizations. Half of the donations received will be allocated to The Running Charity, while the remaining half will support WaterAid.

Despite the setback, Cook and Co are back on the journey to making it to the end of Africa on foot. The police have been made aware of the situation but they are unlikely to retrieve any of the stolen goods at this point.

“A couple lads popped open the side door and demanded everything we have. Desperate blokes with guns pointed. Infamously bad situation to find yourself on the end of. Proper spot of bother. Damage limitation.”

“None of us got killed or injured. We didn’t let them march us out the van. But we did lose a lot of our gear. Couple cameras, 2 iPhones, all of our cash, passports + few other bits.”

Rough gig. But we live to tell the tale. Could’ve been a lot worse. Local police doing as much as they can to help” he said in his Tweet.

It is extremely disturbing to know that while on a journey for a noble cause, Hardest Geezer had to come across such a difficult incident. Adversity did not let him down as once again he is on the path to complete his goal and raise funds for the charity at the same time.
