CSGO is now Free To Play; Battle Royale introduced as Danger Zone

2

Valve has finally decided to join the Battle Royale hype train, as it has decided to take the plunge following the likes of Fortnite, PUBG, H1Z1 and more recently Call of Duty Black Ops 4 to introduce the last man standing and winner takes all game mode.

โ€œDanger Zone,โ€ which is Valveโ€™s take on Battle Royale, where players are dropped in an unknown island with no supplies, guns or equipment, with the main aim of surviving till the end as the play area gets smaller and smaller. Players can drop in as Solo, Duo or even as a Trio in the map called as โ€œBlacksite.โ€

Valve have also taken a bold step and followed Fortnite in making the game free to play, from the $14.99 price earlier. The aim of this move is to maximise the number of users playing and limiting their revenue model to that of in game purchases.

To commemorate this huge update, Valve have released a cosmetic set called the Danger Zone case, which contains 17 community made finishes and horizon knives as rare special items.

PUBG PS4 gameplay leaked ahead of its Launch

0

A Reddit user u/Tastes-Jammy posted an 83-second clip showing the gameplay of PUBG PS4, which is not available to anyone since its announcement a month ago.

The user had found a local listing online, which turned out to be legitimate and he downloaded and played the game only to realize that since no one else had access, he was pretty much the only one in the lobby, and couldnโ€™t actually play a full match.

PUBG PS4

However, from first impressions, it looks very similar to the XBOX version. It is, however, around 33 GB in size compared to the 14 GB of XBOX, and while all the menuโ€™s, graphics etc look the same, the true difference between the 2 versions will be apparent only at release when the 100 players are in a server together.

Nonetheless, it seems promising, with no input lag and frame rate drop seen by the XBOX, and it will be exciting to see how the game compares to its PC and XBOX counterparts.

This German Politician wants the term esports removed

0

German government official and State Minister of the Interior and for Sports of Hesse Peter Beuth, says that he needs to “annihilate” the expression “esports” on the grounds that it has “nothing to do with games.”

As indicated by the Spiel Times, Beuth put forth his expression in a discourse to the members of the vaulting and sports congress in Darmstadt, Germany.

He put forth his expression in light of the decision alliance in Germany having plans to recognize esports in the association that will permit esports competitors and associations to profit by certain affiliation rights. Should these rights be without a doubt, esports clubs can be set up with welfare and advantages secured by German law.

โ€œThis congress is about education and health. We want to get the kids into the gym and into the field. Gaming has its value. But it does not belong in a sports organization as such because it adorns itself with a title whose values I miss there,โ€ added Beuth.

Beuth has contradicted the arrangement and alluded to it as “disastrous.” The lawmaker contended that esports competitions are not played by the standard of conventional games affiliations yet that of “American organizations.”

Then, Ralf-Rainer Klatt, the Vice Principal of Landessportbund Hessen, the umbrella association of composed games in the German province of Hesse, shielded the movement. He contended that when the adolescent methodology clubs and “say that [they] get a kick out of the chance to do esports as group activities, at that point that is something else than when the individual [is] alone with the support [or] PC.”

Ninja has streamed Fortnite close to 4K hours in 2018

1

The most popular streamer, Ninja, recently just revealed his streaming hours in 2018, showing just how much dedication is required even by the biggest names.

According to his Twitter post, Ninja spent 3800 hours of streaming in 11 months of 2018. To put that in perspective, that is nearly 80 hours per week, amounting to nearly 11 and a half hours of Fortnite per day. That is over double the time an average American works for.

The 27-year-old has over 12.5 million followers and over 45000 paying subscribers, making annual earnings just shy of 2 million dollars from subscriptions alone. Apart from that, his sponsorship with Redbull running in millions, as well as his YouTube channel where he uploads highlights, was the fastest growing non-music channel to reach 10 million subscribers, which is a feat in itself.

The pressure on Ninja, however, is huge, as his followers demand a lot from him. When he took a break from streaming for just 3 days to attend E3 2018, he lost almost 48000 followers which has caused a lot of toll on him to deliver regular, long streams to maintain the growth of his channel. Other challenges include devoting time to practicing more, causing streams to be shortened.

Nonetheless, it is fair to say that Ninja is living a dream life by playing the game he loves for a living, having flexible working hours, earning millions, and most importantly, working on his own terms.

OpTic Gaming Disbands PUBG Roster Citing Uncertainity with the Game

1

OpTic Gaming has caused a major blow to PUBG as an esport, after they announced that they would not be fielding a PUBG Team for the upcoming National PUBG League [NPL].

Although it’s not clear whetherย the release of the roster was due to the performance of the team or the future of PUBG as an Esport, OpTic on its subreddit said that it was the latter.

With the recent news of the National PUBG League (NPL) kicking off in the coming months it has required us to really focus in on the title and where we see it moving in the future, causing us to question our belief not only in the game as a competitive esport but also the formatting and structure of the league itself. Because of these two reasons alone, following the GLL Finals December 6th-8th, we will no longer be fielding a PUBG team.

The statement clearly stressed that the structuring of the league, which is set to begin in early 2019 is the reason for the move, although the sheer reduction of viewership in PUBG, marked by the increasing bugs in the game, as well as not optimising the viewer experience may be the actual reason which has caused them to take such an extreme step.

This marks the end of the road for OpTic in PUBG having been active for a year. They, however, have not ruled out a re-entry in the future, as they stated that they would โ€œcontinue to keep an eye on the PUBG space,โ€ keeping open the possibility that they might re-enter the esport if the league is successful.โ€

Astralis could win an extra $1 million if they win ESL Pro League Finals

0

Astralis, who have been on a roll off late have a chance to win an extra $1 million if they win the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals thanks to the Intel Grand Slam which has been running for over a year.

According to the rules of the Intel Grand Slam, any team that wins 4 premier titles, which includes ESL, IEM and Dreamhack events, are eligible to receive $1 million from Intel. This, however, is based on a rolling 10 event period, meaning after winning the first event the teams need to secure the other 3 in the next 9 events.

Astralis, who most recently won IEM Chicago, have also won ESL Pro League Season 7 and Dreamhack Masters Marseille 2018 have FaZe hot on their heels who are at 2 wins, and would look to displace Astralis off their perch by making it 3 wins and making it an even more exciting contest.

This is, however, not Astralisโ€™ final chance as they can also win the IEM Katowice Major to claim the prize, which could be a fitting way to mark their dominance. Another interesting addition to this format by Intel is that the team that beats Astralis if they reach the final stands to win $100000 which puts another target on the backs of the Danes.

Boltz to move to Luminosity: Report

2

According to a report by VPEsports, Ricardo โ€œboltzโ€ Prass is set to join Luminosity Gaming just days after MIBR released him from his contract.

The 21-year-old is expected to replace Gustavo โ€œyeLโ€ Knittel in the active roster, thus having a reunion of sorts with Lucas โ€œLUCAS1โ€ Teles, Henrique โ€œHEN1โ€ Teles and Lucas โ€œsteelโ€ Lopes from his time at Immortals prior to his move to MIBR.

Boltz has played for Luminosity in 2015, being replaced by Epitacio โ€œTACOโ€ de Melo and Lincoln โ€œfnxโ€ Lau which completed the hugely successful core lineup of Luminosity and then SK Gaming, winning 2 successive majors. As for YeL, he was the longest serving member of the organization having been with them since 2016, thus ending a 2-year stint with the Org.

Rumours of a Battle Royale Update intensify as CSGO Devs hint at a release date

0

CSGO Developers seemed to be teasing gamers with a major update round the corner, after they tweeted โ€œWhat are you doing on Wednesday?โ€ today, sparking various rumours of what this possibly could mean.

The most anticipated, yet unlikely rumour was that of the highly popularised Battle Royale mode making its way into the FPS Game, with a number of leaks suggesting the inclusion of this mode.

Via U/GABEFOLLOWER

The tweet which led to the buzz was preceded by the change of the profile picture of the official CSGO Dev Twitter Handle, with a red silhouette that appeared to be vastly different from any character model in the game. What is more strange is that they hardly change their profile picture, which caused these rumours to intensify.

This could, however, be just one of several moves by Valve to build some hype for their next announcement, as there has been no real, concrete evidence to back the claims of a Battle Royale mode.

Other theories include the announcement of a new operation, the first in over a year, which has left fans rather disappointed, or it could just be one of those updates with some gameplay and visual changes. All we know for sure, is that we will have to really wait till tomorrow to find out what Valve has in store for us!

Seangares denies coaching offers from top CSGO teams

0

Former Cloud9 IGL Sean โ€œseangaresโ€ Gares has admitted that ever since he has taken a step back from competitive Counter-Strike, he has been approached by top CSGO teams to be their coach, which he declined.

Explaining the decision, the 30-year-old felt it would it’s not something he feels too comfortable about doing now but has not ruled it out in the future.

Itโ€™s just not something Iโ€™m too sure about,โ€ he said. โ€œItโ€™s definitely a big plunge to take. Iโ€™m not saying Iโ€™m never going to do itโ€ฆ I think I would do it pretty well, but there are negatives to it. I feel like youโ€™re very tied to really making the team want to win. If I were to accept a coaching job, I would never be able to take analyst gigs. I would never be able to feel comfortable streaming when Iโ€™m at home, releasing YouTube contentโ€ฆ All of those things are things I like doing right now.

Gares most recently qualified for the Americas Minor qualifier to be held from December 12, with a mix of ex-pros and some new talent, and has also been very successful in running a YouTube channel where he explains common strats, positions and breaks down important matches. While this is an instant recipe for success in coaching, perhaps it would be too soon in his career to shift from active playing to watching from the sidelines.
