Rainbow Six Siege Patch Activates Reverse Friendly Fire

0

In a dev blog, the developers at Ubisoft shed some light about the upcoming Reverse Friendly Fire update for Rainbow Six Siege.

As the name may suggest some, the RFF system is aimed to keep griefers in check. In RFF system if a player-friendly fires a teammate accidentally or for griefing reasons, the said teammate wonโ€™t receive any damage rather the shooter will receive the damage i.e. Reverse Friendly Fire. The system will be going live today (8th May) and will be applied across the game types.

The dev will be keeping a close eye on this and will be tweaking the RFF system based off data and player feedback. This will help to improve the future iterations of the RFF system and help the team at Ubisoft to find a perfect balance.

Friendly fire has been an ongoing issue for players since launch in December 2015. Griefers often use friendly fire to kill their own teammates which triggers rage quits and more toxic behaviour among the player base.

Currently, RFF system is applicable to primary weapons, secondary weapons and thrown unique gadgets only. Grenades and explosives will still damage the teammates and deal with no reverse damage to the player. Although Ubisoft have gone to great lengths to fix the griefing issue in Siege, the griefers will still have the main source of dealing damage to players i.e. grenades and explosives. But the developers have planned to include these to RFF system in season 2 update.

EA plans to bring Apex Legends to mobile devices

In the conference call on 7th May, EA confirmed that they have plans to release Apex Legends in China and on mobile devices soon.

Apex Legends is one the most popular free-2-play battle royale game that became popular overnight after its release. The game managed to reach a staggering 50 million players within 2months of its release in February.

The game is so popular for EA that no other titles in 2019 from publisher has managed to show similar growth. With this EA announced their plans to bring the game to even more platforms to further grow the number of players.

Further in the conference EA confirmed that 30% of Apex players are new to EA products and store. Many players are trying games/series they’ve never played before due to the large library on Access/Origin. With that in mind, EA plans to deliver new content for the game throughout the year with long term service which will include new legends, maps, cosmetics, etc.

The move to new platforms should come as no surprise for fans of Apex Legends considering the success of mobile releases of Fortnite and PUBG, EA would also want to challenge in that market. The mobile gaming market has become a large part of overall gaming market such that all the publishers are looking to release their games on mobile as soon as possible.

In addition to expanding to mobile, EA said they have plans to release Apex Legends in China, the worldโ€™s largest gaming market.

Microsoft releases Minecraft Classic for browsers

0

Minecraft is just days close to its 10th year anniversary. With the game becoming a decade old Microsoft have revealed that they plan to celebrate this with host of announcements for the game. And as a part of 10th-year-anniversary announcements, Microsoft have released Minecraft Classic! a free-2-play browser game.

Minecraft classic isnโ€™t new to old-time fans of the game. The game was available till 2009 before Microsoft bought rights to Minecraft and took down the game. But with the latest round of announcement old timers can rejoice and have a nostalgia trip ( according to Microsoft).

The game will be supported across all PC browsers and the players will have the ability to invite up to 9 friends to play together. Players will start with 32 blocks to build with and the same interface as 2009 version of Classic. The game will still feature the same bugs and workarounds as the old version did, this is something that was left deliberately for nostalgia reason.

With the 10th year anniversary on 17th May inching closer, Microsoft and Mojang ( developers of Minecraft) are to set to make more announcements. While some rumours about a game called Minecraft AR (a game similar to Pokรฉmon Go)ย  are going around the web lately, we might be getting some more information in the coming days about it. For now, letโ€™s just think of it as speculation only.

You can check out Minecraft Classic right here.

MDL Paris Major Day 3 Recap: Europe Dominates, Beastcoast & Empire Eliminated

After an exciting day two, the MDL Paris Major action resumed on Monday ,6th May 2019 at Disneyโ€™s Newport Bay Club, Disneyland, Paris.

Letโ€™s recap yesterdayโ€™s events. At the end of day two, the playoffs bracket looked like:

UPPER BRACKET:

LOWER BRACKET:

Upper Bracket Round 1 Games:

First upper bracket of the day saw Team Secret take on PSG.LGD. The game was expected to be competitive, but the first game was anything but. Team Secret won the game 1 comfortably to take a 1-0 lead in the series. PSG.LGD made a comeback in game 2 to tie the series up at 1-1. Team Secret held their nerves in the final game of the series and fought for a hard-earned 2-1 victory against the French-Chinese Giants.

Second upper bracket game of the day was the most anticipated matchup of the day.DPC Leaders for 2 years in a row, Virtus.Pro took on TI8 Champions OG, who ironically are attending only their first major of the season.

Even with Anaโ€™s return, not many expected OG to perform well, much less upset VP. But OG had other plans, and a surprise for everyone.

OG completely decimated VP in 2 games, lasting 23m45s and 19m18s respectively.

This game sets up a Round 3 Upper Bracket match between Team Secret and OG, which will be played out in the Disney Events Arena!

Lower Bracket Round 1 Games:

First game of the lower bracket round 1 saw an all North American affair between Beastcoast and Team Complexity. Despite their best efforts, Team Complexity were too strong for Beastcoast. This win sets up a match between PSG.LGD and Complexity in Lower Bracket Round 2.

With this loss, Beastcoast are the first team to be eliminated from the MDL PARIS MAJOR.

The second game of the day was between Team Empire and Mineski Gaming. The CIS squad was no match for Mineski, who won the game comfortably, securing themselves aLower Bracket Round 2 match against Virtus.Pro.

With this loss, Team Empire are the second team to be eliminated from the MDL Paris Major.

The Lower Bracket now looks like this:

Day 4 of the Major begins at 13:30 IST on 7th May 2019.

Schedule consists of two Upper Bracket games and 2 Lower Bracket elimination games.

MIBR invited to Blast Pro Series Los Angeles 2019

After attending Blast Pro Series in Sรฃo Paulo and Miami this year, FalleN and co. have received invitation to attend third Blast Pro Series event โ€” Los Angeles 2019. The event will be held at Galen Center on July 12-13 with a prize pool worth $250,000 USD. Like other Blast Pro Series tournaments, this event will also follow best of one round robin format and top two teams will advance to best of three grand finale. Apart from MIBR, FaZe Clan and Team Liquid are also invited to Los Angeles. Three more invites are expected to be revealed soon.

Lately, MIBR has been in a great form after the core reunited with Epitacio ‘TACO’ de Melo and Joรฃo ‘felps’ Vasconcellos. Addition of a couple of Americans didn’t favour the Brazilians in the long run. However, they are now back in the battle. MIBR secured the 3rd-4th place at IEM Major Katowice and IEM Sydney 2019. The lineup also placed 3rd at Blast Pro Series Miami 2019.
