Fnatic decimates Astralis 2-0 at DreamHack Masters Malmo semi-finals

Fnatic secured their spot in the finals at Malmo, DreamHack Masters by taking down the Danish power-house Astralis. Fnatic won in a convincing manner by scoring 2-0, not dropping a single map against the Danes.

Map 1 was on Overpass, where Fnatic started things off by taking a quick three-round lead over Astralis after winning the pistol round on the T-side. Astralis bounced back and were able to take a round off Fnatic. However, it wasnโ€™t enough to secure the game,Fnatic built tremendous momentum in the second half. Ludvig โ€œBrollanโ€ Brolin put the nail in the coffin by a Krieg triple kill which ensured their T-side win. Fnatic concluded the first half with a score of 9-6.

In the second half of Overpass, JW took three members of Astralis off-guard and ensured the pistol round for Fnatic. Astralis answered back with a force buy, winning them three consecutive rounds. This victory was however short-lived as Fnatic quickly took the game under their control and cruised through the rounds, winning the map and letting the scoreboard rest at 16-9.

Map 2 was held on Nuke, and history repeated itself, Fnatic started things off by winning the pistol round. Brollan stole the show with his smoke defuse play in the 1v1 against Peter โ€œdupreehโ€ Rasmussen on the B-bomb site. The rounds went on to be neck and neck but Fnatic came out on top, finishing 9-6 with yet another triple kill from Brollan with a Krieg.

The Swedish team won the pistol round yet again in the second half, not losing a single pistol round in the entire set. The fight turned out to be anyoneโ€™s game as both the teams played to the best of their abilities which became evident as the match went on to Overtime.

Overtime had both teams exchange 2-1 on the CT-side. The additional rounds which followed had the exact same outcome, and only in the third and final overtime, Fnatic was able to close out the map and set with a score of 25-23, securing them a place in the finals.

Entity Gaming wins Dew Arena CSGO 2019

Entity were made to toil by Global Esports over three maps but survived the scare on Train to retain the Dew Arena title.

The match started on Dust2. It seemed like Entity had perfect reads on just what Global Esports were doing and ended the half with a 12-3 lead. The defending champions then, closed out the map 16-8.

Train looked like Global Esports were being served more of the same, this time on the defence. But, the HellRanger led stack mounted a brilliant comeback from 9-3 to then win the map 16-11.

The decider saw Entity continue dominating on the offence, swapping over to the CT side with a 10-5 lead. Entity did not let their lead slip and swiftly captured the map 16-7 and the series 2-1.

karam1l was the highlight for Global Esports while psy and DeathMaker contributed heavily on the other side.

But, it was Entity IGL Amaterasu who championed through the decider, Mirage, with 23 kills to his name in as many rounds.

S1mpleโ€™s graffiti has been re-added in the new Cache

One of the most memorable moments in CS:GO is the 1v2 that S1 s1mple pulled off against Fnatic at ESL Cologne 2016. Fnatic was at a man-advantage, having 2 players of their own against the sole survivor, s1mple. When the players Dennis Edman and Freddy โ€œKRIMZโ€ Johansson decided to rush the B-bomb site in an attempt to close out the round. S1mple turned things around by divebombing with his AWP from heaven, eliminating Dennis and then no-scoping KRIMZ right after that.

Recognizing this iconic play, Valve added a graffiti in de_cache at the B-bomb site under the heaven position.

This year Cache got a remake, which was showcased at ESL One New York. Fans were disappointed to know that the graffiti which paid respect to s1mpleโ€™s iconic moment was removed. However, during the ESL Livestream for the new version of Cache, fans were relieved to see that the graffiti was re-introduced.

The new version of de_cache will be fully released this year in October. It is however not certain if the new map will be directly added to the Active Duty map pool.

Shroud says CSGO and PUBG are his favourite game of all time

0

Popular Streamer Michael โ€œshroudโ€ Grzesiek has said that his all time favouite game is Counter Strike, with World Of Warcraft as a close Second, followed by PUBG.

While this might not come as a surprise for his long time supporters, the fact that he streamed the game only for 7 hours in the past 3 months did raise some questions about his love for the game.

His long standing association with the game, however, is one of the biggest reasons for his love with CS. Having competed in the professional CS circuit with Cloud9 for 4 years and winning titles such as the ESL Pro League in the process, Shroud was one of the most mechanically gifted players to have graced the game.

However, he did not enjoy playing tournaments and having to practice for the same, and decided to focus on streaming as his full time job where he was having a growing audience and had the flexibilty to work on his own accord.

Since then, he has been one of the biggest streamers on Twitch, showing his talent on every FPS game he played, by making incredible and impossible plays. While he currently only focuses on Battle Royales, the game from which he made his name is still very close to his heart.

FaZe Clan files motion to dismiss Tfueโ€™s lawsuit from California court – Report

0

A report by esport journalist Richard Lewis has stated that Faze Clan has filed a motion to dismiss their lawsuit against Turner “Tfue” Tenney from California, favouring a motion at New York instead.

While the Faze camp claims it is “better suited” for New York courts, Tfue’s reps have claimed that it is only done to avoid California’s strict labour laws. More specifically, they said that the California Talent Agency Act ensured that Tfue was protected against Faze acting against him to limit his sponsorship opportunities.

On the flip side, Faze argued that New York was a neutral location for both parties and that Tfue was a Floria resident and therefore California was not the appropriate location anyway.

โ€œFor the foregoing reasons, FaZe Clan respectfully requests this Court dismiss this proceeding to permit Tenney to re-file his claims in New York.โ€ FaZeโ€™s legal team said.

The court is yet to decide on the outcome of the motion.

Esports declared as an official sport in Sri Lanka

2

Sri Lanka has made history by being the first country in South Asia to officially recognize esports as an official sport, after the Ministry of Sports published the declaration on 2nd of October.

The Declaration was made on 26th of Spetember by Harin Fernando, Minister of Telecommunication and Sports. It was a culmination of the efforts of the Sri Lankan Esports Association (SLESA), after a long fought decade old battle.

Sri Lanka now joins the likes of France and South Korea as the countries having recognized esports as an official sport. The move was spurred by an increasing change in dynamic of the scene, with Sri Lanka itself ssing a record 150 schools take part in the recently concluded Inter-School Esports Championship.

With Esports as a demonstration sport in the Asian Games, The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) endorsed it, prompting its inclusion as an official sport in the country.

Liquid considering NAF removal

Rush B Media journalist Will Land has speculated that Team Liquid are considering the removal of Keith ‘NAF’ Markovic from their active CSGO lineup. The report states that personal issues within the roster combined with the recent disappointing results have pushed the organisation towards the above thought process.

The report further states that Liquid are considering bringing in Timothy ‘autimatic’ Ta from Cloud9 to replace NAF. But, this is just a speculation at this moment of time. As for NAF, the report states that Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses are both plausible destinations, should he be benched at Liquid.

Should Liquid decide to replace NAF with autimatic, it will reunite former Major Champions Jake ‘Stewie2k’ Yip and autimatic, with the two having played together previously under the Cloud9 banner.

While the report states that a change is ‘inevitable’ in Liquid, this rumour would come as a shock to many-a fans of the organisation, especially with the team doing so well in 2019 so far, barring the Group Stage exit at DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019.

Fnatic takes Overpass to 34-32 to beat FURIA at DreamHack Masters Malmo elimination match

Fnatic and Furia needed 66 rounds to settle things on Overpass. And the best part? That was only map one in a best-of-three series.

Fnatic and Furia would trade rounds back-and-forth, and trade highlights as well, as both teams sought to take that 1-0 series advantage by any means necessary.

Not only did Ludwig โ€œBrollanโ€ Brolin star in most of the highlights that came from this map, he and Freddy โ€œKRIMZโ€ Johansson led the way for Fnatic with 57 and 54 kills respectively.

Furia had a very good team performance, with no lone player noticeably falling behind, but Vinicius โ€œVINIโ€ Figueiredo and Henrique โ€œHEN1โ€ Teles did the heavy work, finishing with 55 and 52 frags.

With a final scoreline of 32:34 in favour of Fnatic, this map officially tied the record for the longest map to take place at a tier-one CS:GO competition.

The longest ever CS:GO match on record? That honor belongs to XENEX and exceL, who went 88 rounds in an ESL UK Premiership match in 2015. XENEX won that map on Inferno 46-42 after 2 hours and 43 minutes. They also won the series 2-0.

Fnatic joins Ninjas in Pyjamas at the Malmรถ Arena for the DreamHack Masters Malmรถ playoffs, who qualified after a much less competitive 2-0 victory against Team Vitality.

Grayhound upset Liquid; mousesports overcome Optic challenge

DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019 has been full of upsets and we saw another one come to fruition, this time in the Lower Bracket of Group B. The LB semi-finals saw Liquid take on Grayhound in what appeared to be a comfortable series for the current #1 CSGO team in the world.

The map veto also seemed to favour Liquid to a great extent. But, Grayhound swept away the series 2-0 to eliminate Liquid and progress to the final of the Lower Bracket in Group B. The Australians overturned a 12-3 deficit on Mirage to shut Liquid down 16-13 before mounting another comeback on Nuke to close the map 16-10 and series 2-0.

The elimination is Liquid’s first Group Stage exit in big events in 2019 and marks the end of the North American challenge at DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019.

In the second semi-final in the Lower Brackets of Group B, mousesports were made to toil by Optic gaming. But, the European stack managed to close out both maps at the end and secure the series 2-0.

mousesports will now face Grayhound in the Lower Bracket Finals of Group B. The winner of the fixture will proceed to the Quarter-Finals of the competition.
