Aleksib turns down $1m Complexity deal

Reputed journalist Richard Lewis has added to the report from Jared ‘DeKay’ Lewis that Complexity founder Jason Lake flew to Helsinki to hold talks with Aleksi ‘Aleksib’ Virolainen to be the new IGL for their team. The Complexity owner offered the benched ENCE star a deal worth a staggering 1 million USD.

According to the report, the deal offered by the Dallas-based organisation not only included basic salary but also a luxury apartment as well. Aleksib though, did not want to relocate to North America and turned the lucrative offer down.

Aleksib’s rejection saw Jason Lake turn his focus to Heroic IGL Benjamin ‘blameF’ Bremer. blameF agreed to join Complexity in a move that has set the organisation back by around 500,000 USD, according to French journalist nelendirekt.

Complexity have since gone on to announce the acquisition of Will ‘RUSH’ Wierzba from Cloud9 as well. As for Aleksib, fans will be waiting to see where he ends up.

Team Liquid picks up Alliance’s former roster

0

Team Liquid announced that they will be leading into the next DPC season with the ex roster of Alliance after their own roster which was already famous for its consistent performance left the organization earlier this year.

The newly signed Liquid squad features Michael โ€œmiCKeโ€ Vu, Maximilian โ€œqojqvaโ€ Brรถcker, Samuel โ€œBoxiโ€ Svahn, Tommy โ€œTaigaโ€ Le and Aydin โ€œiNSaNiAโ€ Sarkohi entirely from the ex-Alliance lineup.

The ex-Alliance squad has a long running history in the esport scenes of both DOTA 2 and HON. After Alliance failed to qualify for The International 2017, they acquired the the boys who were then leaving HON scene. Despite not qualifying for TI8, the roster stuck together and finally made it into TI9. Sadly, their TI9 run was short lived and the drafting mistake of iNSaNiA became the final nail in the coffin for their TI9 run.

Even though they haven’t had impressive performances in recent events, the squad shows a lot of promise and finally with an organization like Team Liquid signing them and giving them a chance, this might be a turning point for the boys who have stuck together since their time in HON.

It is only a matter of time before we find out if the newly signed squad will survive and shine in the harsh DOTA 2 competitive scene under the banner of Team Liquid, or it will fail to make its mark.

Colleges in the US and UK now allow students to earn a degree in esports

1

In a bid to capitalize on the booming industry of Esports several schools and colleges across US and UK have started to offer programs and degrees for skilled professionals. The main aim of these is to make individuals esports ready and to further improve their skills.

Across the global the emergence of esports as market leader is clearly visible. In Asia alone the market has expanded more than any other industry and is still showing strong growth. Several schools in Singapore and China were already offering courses related to Esports for years, and with continuous rise in popularity of these programs other schools and colleges have also debuted esports courses.
In US alone more than 100 schools are on their way to add esports to their curriculum by launching dedicated esports programs. Many retired professionals from the industry have also joined the ranks of teachers and are offering their experiences with students. Chichester University in UK have hired Rams Singh, a former pro gamer also known as R2K, as a senior lecturer for esports programs which includes playing games such as FIFA and League of Legends.

Last year, the University of Staffordshire in UK, launched bachelorโ€™s and masterโ€™s esports programs, in which students were taught about marketing and management skills tailored specifically for esports industry. This year they plan to expand the programs to London. Similarly, several schools in London have also debuted esports study programs.

Several Colleges in US have also started to treat the Esports similar to traditional Sports and are offering scholarships to top players to entice them to join their colleges, a privilege that was only offered to top sports athletes.

Call of Duty: Mobile stuck on loading screen? You’re not alone

The most awaited mobile title of this year hasnโ€™t had a dream start as merely 4-6 hours after the official release of Call of Duty: Mobile, several complaints have come to notice about the game freezing on the primary loading screen. It has caused panic on social media sites where multiple complaints have come up regarding the same issue.

The exact cause for this is yet unknown but we do have an official statement from Activision Support on twitter. It is being speculated as a server issue or a server overload as the game already has already been downloaded over a million times in a very short span of time considering the game was launched today itself. Activision specified that they’re already working on a fix and that it will be resolved soon.

It is still unclear as to how much time could be taken in resolving this issue and we can just hope that it gets done as soon as possible. If your game too is stuck on the primary loading screen then youโ€™re not alone.

G2 Esports signs huNter- and nexa, benches Lucky

G2 has finally announced the signing of Nemanja “nexa” Isakoviฤ‡ and Nemanja “huNter-” Kovaฤ from CR4ZY. After an impressive spell under the Serbian banner, the duo was quick to jump in on the radar of some of the top tier CSGO sides around the world. Rumours were floating about them joining G2 ever since Richard “Shox” Papillon and Lucas “Lucky” Chastang were benched by the French side after the Starladder Major.

nexa and huNter- had a superb run in the major under the CR4ZY line-up, showing that they were well and truly capable of keeping up with any top side they come across. nexa will be taking over the skipper role from shox, which means the G2 roster are to communicate in English through their matches.

With these changes, G2 now have:

  • Kenny “kennyS” Schrub
  • Audric “JaCkz” Jug
  • Franรงois “AmaNEk” Delaunay
  • Nemanja “nexa” Isakoviฤ‡
  • Nemanja “huNter-” Kovaฤ
  • Damien “maLeK” Marcel (coach)
  • Lucas “Lucky” Chastang (benched)

The newly seasoned G2 roster will make its debut at DreamHack Masters Malmรถ. The French organization have been drawn in Group A, featuring Astralis and Vitality, and will take on the new look FURIA in their first match of the tournament.

You could soon see a different title instead of Terrorists & Counter Terrorists in CSGO

After the completion of ESL One New York Championship, where Evil Geniuses took the title. ESLโ€™s Michal โ€˜Carmacโ€™ Bicharz shocked the CS:GO community by running a poll to rename โ€œTerroristsโ€ and โ€œCounter-Terroristsโ€ to more subtle and viewer-friendly names like โ€œoffenceโ€ and โ€œDefenceโ€. This change was suggested by Rod โ€˜Slasherโ€™ Breslau, who is an eSport consultant.

The community definitely did not want to see the change which was evident by the votes which were inclined heavily inclined towards keeping the existing names. Over 13,000 voters took part in the poll with 69% of them wanting to keep things as is.

Counter-Strike has its roots that go as far back as 20 years, which makes it understandable as to why the community would not want to see this change. However, the names Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist can be controversial and not very sponsor-friendly. To attract more investment and mainstream viewership, it is possible that these names get changed in the future.

Famous CSGO YouTuber Anomaly agreed that the change could have a positive impact. Not having to use the word โ€˜terroristโ€™ in a video will help in avoiding possible demonetization.

On the flip-side of things, map designer FMPONE was not very happy about the possible change. He showed this by tweeting, โ€œAppeasement is absolutely futile, authenticity is worth fighting forโ€.

Whether the change happens or not is yet to be seen. Valve will have to consider various things before making such a drastic decision.
